Soooo many variables in this. Stihl looked to have the butt end of the log, the chain on the husky is clearly in better shape, you can see the Chips whereas the stihl almost looks like it's blowing dust at times and the biggest part of all, the husky beats the stihl in displacement by a whopping 12cc's. Huge difference when we're talking about engines this size. Fresh or properly sharpened chains on both saws and they would be too close to have any meaningful difference in that size wood. But it was still fun to watch.

I own both saws. Love them both. The 500 is lighter and I can feel it as well as my friends when handling. Also I bought an Echo 7310 and that I'm happy with also. Great vid.

No replacement for displacement!!!! That’s a 90cc against an 80cc !!! With 36” bar’s in big wood it would really be even more obvious!!!! The husky has that better air filter system too!!!! That’s the best saw in the world that the 500i is trying to hang with so it’s really a pretty good showing for that poor little chick saw!!! 😂😂😂👍. The 500i is a bad ass saw and I think probably more than most people need, would much rather run one all day over a 90cc saw with weight alone, but when it comes to big wood there is no replacement for displacement. 500i is the best at what it was meant for which is a larger mid sized saw but when you need that 3 foot bar in hardwood the 90cc is always the better choice. All depends what you’re looking for out of a saw, it’s best just to have all of them in the arsenal, stihl or husky

The unfortunate thing here is the 500i had the larger side, the husqvarna is 12cc larger and 3 pounds heavier, the chips on the husqvarna look to be bigger than the stihl which means the chain on the husqvarna is in better shape...

@@finditfixitfarmit Actually, I'd say it was very fair. That Stihl choose to sell their machine for the same price as the Husky is their fault, not Husqvarna's. I would say that the Stihl had the butt end, so thicker wood to deal with, but the Husky was nearly 2 cuts ahead and the start was fluffed. But as you say, it was a bit of fun, and good fun to watch, too.

I love that the husqvarna was 10cc larger and they were all happy it beat the stihl???? I will tell you which saw I would rather run all day and it would the 500-i, it gives up some cc's but with a 25" light bar there is no comparison with any other 80cc saw. The 500i-R I own is an ass handler with a 25" and 28" bar!!!

The makita 7900prz2 which I own is 78.5cc and the echo 7310pw is closer at 73.5cc the 462. Stihl is 72cc. Run that big husqvarna next to the stihl 661 and it would be a fair race. Thanks for the video!!!

The 592 has 12 more cc’s is heavier and in this instance had a much sharper chain my personal experience is the 500i is an exceptionally light and powerful saw unlike any I’ve used before owning 170-090 all falling and tree work saws t435,192,194,201tc 170,250,362,440,046,460,462,500i,660,661c,090,homelite2000automatic No disjustice to husky but 500i is superior

Barkbox is yoked with that spark arrestor they tack on. Look up Salvage saw company and get a Duke. Not as loud but certainly adds more power.

And at the end of the loggers career the Husky guy will be the one with the White knuckle syndrome. I suffer with it after 20+ year running 090 Stihl saws, but today I help run WorkSafe fallers courses in BC, and we get our hands on both, now fallers use Husky too, not in the early years is much, it was the landing saw. Tougher mounts, but also more white knuckles according to long-term payouts by WorkSafe. So now when instruction on basic saw safety, my hand act up on Husky days much quicker. So in still a Stihl guy, it's not about speed, it's about lots of safer thing, my 2bits worth.

Don't know about the MS661, but there is a video of a 592 making an MS660 look pretty tame. No idea about the conditions, but I know enough about the pride of ownership of these machines to know that you don't put one of these up against the competition without making sure your chain is sharp. Edited; Just found one. And the Husky is still quicker.

Not stupid at all. they both cost almost exactly the same in mot markets (€20 difference in the EU). You can hardly claim that it is Husqvarna's fault that Stihl prices are higher. This reminds me of those car tests where you have a VW of a supposedly similar sector tested against the "Equivalent" Hyundai, or whatever. They may be in the same theoretical sector, but the VW probably costs about €6000 more. Nota fair comparison at all.
