Very interesting , I have two 61's , one I bought new in 79 and will keep stock. The other one is a parts saw I'm going to put a 272xp top end on. When you get around to porting yours make sure you put a timing wheel on it and you'll see why its so lazy. Great video thanks

I have a ported with a degree wheel 55 that out cuts my stock 272xp by a landslide. I have a 61 we wore out I'm thinking about dropping a 272 top end on it.

Needs the exhaust opened up. Seems like it didn't bog as much.

Thanks for putting this information out there im doing the same build right now, maybe that cheap cylinder has bad timing ? Or maybe it needs a couple tanks ran to get the rings seated

It is probably multiple issues. I reinstalled it without the base gasket, and that seemed to help, but then I quickly had an intake gasket failure. I would definitely recommend using it without the base gasket, and with OEM intake gasket. Also, the 272xp has a larger carb, so the bigger Chinese cylinder wasn't able to breath like it was designed. I'm currently back to the stock cylinder and plan on porting the Chinese cylinder in the future and addressing the larger carb. If it ever happens, I'll video it. So subscribe!

like i had one of those 61 farmertech cylinderkits just rebuild because of an engine lockup. It was run in 2-3 tanks later and it was much more lively

Test again ounce the rings have setted in, three or four tanks through it.

Man that's a lazy saw now, what brand was the cylinder? Check what your timing numbers are but I would Open up your lower transfers a bit, port matched exhaust depends how numbers are maybe bump the exhaust groove in 2 degree increments and see what happens, taking in consideration there is alot of factors to consider before just hitting it crossing fingers and hoping for the best. There is potential unless the cylinder numbers are way out to lunch

Without the carb of a 272 you won't gain anything. Get a Tillotson 260A and you will see different results.

The saw in both vids sound God awful as far as I am concerned...I have an old 61and my brother has one and they don't flounder or bog like that in ANY kind of wood....something wrong somewhere.....I would suggest starting with the drags..... filed too low possibly....for ONE thing.
