My 435 leaks as well, when I opened it to inspect, I found that the worm gear/bushing was completely melted and very tight on the shaft- not entirely sure that is the cause of the leak but will be replacing them anyway. Another option to putting rope in your cylinder is to use the grooves in the clutch that say "off" with an arrow, I quick tap with a hammer and screwdriver and the clutch will spin right off.

@@MakerMaxCorbett Is the purpose of the rope to get the piston from moving? Why do you have to find TDC? Is it possible to find without a special tool? What is the possibility of damage?

@@ChrisWilson37 There is also notches marked "OFF" in the clutch a quick tap with a hammer and flatblade screw driver will take the clutch off without putting rope in your cylinder.

Mine has the same problem with my 445, does not oil well when using it (will ty to clean out again), leaks a lot of oil in storage since it was new years ago, when I took to dealer (when new and under warranty) of course they said only normal seepage nothing unusual...

I wonder how you rotate to top dead center it would really help one that is trying to learn on your video that does not have a clue that is me

You don't need to go TDC to do this fix. To get to TDC put a pencil in the spark plug hole and rotate the crank until the pencil is the tallest.

What happens if you don’t get the cylinder dead bottom??
@markmeeks21353 жыл бұрын
Absolutely nothing! You just won’t get as much rope in the cylinder and it may rotate while trying to remove clutch.
@Drottninggatan20172 жыл бұрын
You should not have the piston at the bottom, as they did here. What will happen then is the rope will go out the exhaust and transfer ports and be caught between piston and cylinder wall. Always move the piston up from the bottom, in the direction you are going to turn the shaft.
@Fueler Жыл бұрын
Yes it should be pass the exhaust and transfer ports before putting the rope in.

Ive got the husqvarna 450 rancher. Looked similar to yours. I’m having the same issue. I only notice it leaking after it sets for a while. I’m wondering if this would be a fix for it. It’s less than a year old.
@MakerMaxCorbett4 жыл бұрын
There is not much to them on the inside. You can pull it apart and look for damage. The parts were under $25 for both and took less then 1 hour to do. Better then cleaning up bar oil all over.
@joncarpenter9844 жыл бұрын
Put a small film of any silicone on the back side of the Oiler tube don’t cover the hole with it let the saw rest on its side while it dries about 1 hour you can put the plate back on while it’s curing. Leak will seal up good to go. Shouldn’t have to do this but it works

Do you think these parts changed much over the course of the 372xp production run? In other words, do I have to find the parts specific to the serial# of my saw?

I'm thinking after reading a bunch of replies, I'll just dump my oil after every use. I was keeping the saw in my storage compartment of my RV so wherever i go ill have a chainsaw, a pole saw and a weed wacker to clean up the surrounding area. Grabbed the saw 1 day and found oil all over the floor. I was a tiny bit shocked as the saw was only a few days old and only used for like an hour before storage

What can you do if the piece of rope won't come out?
@magicone93272 жыл бұрын
If the rope gets caught into the exhaust or intake port. U have a 50/50 chance of which one. Most likely though it is the exhaust port. Remove muffler and remove it.

I have a 350 and leaks like a bitch too. Saw a video where the guy used red thread lock to seal things up. I completely took mine apart and cleaned it up, compared parts and i have short oiler hose that goes to the bar and the pump outlet sticks in there. I also noticed the case has a port connecting the oil reservoir to the rubber piece. Where that oiler port is there is a small plastic screen cup sort of like a tiny thimble held in by a screw on the bottom of the saw. I have never seen a plastic to plastic part seal against each other so this is probably my leak. Just looking at a couple more videos to see if anyone uses sealant on the tin plate or oiler tube or anywhere and why not use rtv like on car intakes?
@MakerMaxCorbett4 жыл бұрын
I guess you could use RTV to seal it. The oil hole is small so keeping it from clogging that you need to be careful. Also this is not under pressure so I guess husky thought friction would be enough.

@MrTapes7 ай бұрын
It’s to keep the engine from rotating while you’re turning the clutch to remove it. Without stopping the piston from moving you’d never get it off, the engine will just keep spinning.
@IRONHORSE427RACING2 жыл бұрын
You do know while you had your oiler assembly apart you missed a perfect chance to put fresh grease on the worm gear and then when re assembling the rest you should have put grease on the needle bearing for your clutch drum. Just saying.

Thanks. This was my first time doing this.

Someone here recommended putting silicone between the rubber oil line and the saw. Would this be to create a "rubber washer" around the oil hole, if it is then why not put a small rubber washer there instead? Please explain the idea behind this. Thank you in advance.

There is that. I might do the same thing.
@joncarpenter9844 жыл бұрын
Add a film of any silicone to the down side of the Oiler tube where it meets up with the hole on the saw. The plate and one screw are not enough pressure to keep the oil tube down in place. Allow 1hour or so with the saw on its side while silicone has a chance to dry and problem solved this works for any saw with this kind of Oiler system. I know it should seal without it but it doesn’t. Oil leak fixed
