Worked like a charm- thanks! My Husqvarna 351 leaked bar lube from day one. I returned it under warranty to Better power in Waterbury, Vermont, USA and they could never figure it out. I put up with this much longer than I should have... A constant battle with bar lube leaking everywhere - and now not a drop! I would add that it is nice to use a clutch removal tool on this saw. Thanks Theinfoworks... if I ever find myself down on your side of the globe - I will buy you a beer.

The Hylomar finally came in the mail. Made a clutch removal tool, then got down to the oil pump. My 357xp is different than the 346... has rubber blocks for both inlet and outlet which simply press against the pump body... just little teats on the pump, no hose fittings. I put a film of Hylomar on the rubber blocks and reassembled. The leaking has stopped! Incredible. Thank you so much for posting your video!!! Oh, I get a little piddle of oil when I screw on the oil filler cap, but during use, or sitting on the floor.... no leaks... thank you again.

For what it's worth, I own a 350 and a 44 and never had an oil leak until I switched to some Master Mechanic "cheap oil". I eventually went back to Some Stihl oil and now using tractor supply's product and the oil leaks went away. Not at all saying that there are not other reasons, but just glad the fix for me was so easy. It seems as long as there is plenty of STP in the product the results are excellent. My 44 must be well over 20 years old and has been used and abused and still a great saw. They just don't make em like they once did.

I haven't fixed my 345 like you have shown yet but I now leave the oil cap loose so it can't build up pressure from temp changes. Bar side down, oil cap up and so far it doesn't leak out with cap loose. I'm probably just lucky so far. I'll do your fix later. Great saw and a great video. Thanks.

Hi. hylomar is a sticky gasket sealing compound. You could try RTV and I am sure that would work equally well. Only the smallest amount used so as not to block the oilways. I hope you get this sorted as it's a common fault with husky's. All the best.
@TheInfoworks

Let's hear how you got on. This worked for an earlier and later 346. On the later 346 with the suction and delivery pipes as separate units, I had to make the tin oil pump cover put a bit more pressure on the delivery pipe union. I just put a ding in it with a centre punch. Let's hear how you got on, for the benefit of all my channel subscribers. Thanks for your comment

Hi, yes, well observed. In your case it is in the manufacturing and in mine not taking enough notice. As the clutch is self-tightening with a left hand thread then the mistake is not noticed until its time for a sprocket change. This mistake can happen on a husky but not on Stihl. All the best

After it cools and before being stored pop the cap to balance any pressure difference. A full reservoir won't leak like a half full one! I just store mine caps down (right side up as opposed to top side up) never had a drip since. Free and 4 outta 5 of my huskies agree

HI. The gasket sealer was Hylomar, but any sealer should do the job as long as it sticks to the rubber pipe. Remember to only use a small amount. Hope this trick cures your chain oil leak.

This fix seems to have worked for me. I didn't have any of that fancy blue stuff you have so I just used a light coat of lithium grease. Hopefully that works out ok. Question: why does my the clutch (the part with the two "c-clips" that you turn the opposite way) rattle when the the saw is in operation? I don't remember if it was like this before I did this fix... obviously it should be loose when the brake isn't engaged, but I don't remember it rattling...

Yes it's a poor design, as another viewer commented, like a chicken wire canoe. The leak can also come from a faulty oil cap, or maybe a pump badly fitted, or worst of all a crank case gasket leaking at the oil tank, see if the crank case bolts are tight. Hope you fix it, cheers, Andy

Sounds like the chain oil is getting on to the exhaust. I had this with an MS250. It was a plug in an oil gallery that had come out allowing oil onto the exhaust. Clean the area up and investigate, could be other reasons but see where the oil is going when the saw is running. It may be that the bar oiling is poor also. Cheers

Not supprised, some dealers can be bad news. I am not familiar with your model, but if you are getting some oil then the pump will be working to some extent. I suggest you watch parts of the 350 rebuild series, as the oil pump and filter are different from the 346. The oil filter is in a different place. I would check and clean out the oil tank, oil filter, check the oil pump worm drive and drive dogs, and the oil passages and the bar oil holes. Hope that gives you something to work on. If you are using a bar that is too long for the saw that will not help. Also bio-oil can crystalise and block things up. let me know how you get on, cheers. Subscribed?

I've got my Husky 350 torn down for the same problem. Ordered a new rubber channel on eBay...coming from China (to MS, USA) so it will be a couple of weeks before it arrives. You threw me big time when you glossed over the "Blue ?" product. Never had seen that product before. I found in prior comments where it is a product called Blue Hylomar and is a gasket sealant. I have on hand some Permatex. Will Permatex do the same? I wonder if I should just install the new rubber "as is" or if I should install using a gasket sealer...Your opinion? Hi, if you are talking about oil coming out from behind the side plate then the only reason is that the oil cannot find its way into the bar. I have a husky 55 rancher I'm having this issue with. Unfortunately mine is quite different then this and I can't seem to figure out the problem. I did purchase a new oil pump but I haven't installed it yet. First I took old one apart and cleaned it and I also inspected and compared it to the new one. After I cleaned it I didn't see anything wrong with it or that could go wrong. It's leaking when the saw is off but I did put 10w 40 motor oil in it before I cleaned it to see if it would pump it and it didn't seem to but that was before I cleaned it. Now it's still leaking and not pumping oil on the bar. I'm wondering if it's missing something.

@@TheInfoworks well this one is different. I honestly don't see exactly how it works because the spline is part of the shaft and can only see it when the pump is removed but I'm sure it's touching but kinda weird. The plastic pump gears show no signs of wear which I'd think the way its set up it actually would. Everything is clean I've even taken the rubber piece out that seals and pulls the oil and cleaned it.

When the saw is ticking over there should be no oil as with modern saws the oil pump is not driven until the chain moves. The pump is driven from the clutch. On early saws the pump with driven all the time and so a pool of oil could be seen when a saw was ticking over. If you are getting an oil pool it could be that the bar is not fitted correctly, or there is some other fault, hope this helps. Please like and subscribe, cheers

Or Husky could correct the specs and solve the "simple issue" themselves. I've had my new 440 for less than a year, love the way it performs. But it started leaking chain oil on the 2nd or 3rd time I used it! Surprised to learn this is a common issue for chainsaws in general, though I understand things get worn out. But this is more a design flaw, straight from the factory. I shouldn't have to damn near take the entire thing apart to put a "small dab" of glue on the end of hose, just to get it to not leak everywhere. Certainly not a new unit.

Nice one, all part of the information sharing. Here's the equivalent of buying me a beer, Check out my books shown on some of my other vidoes. When you go to the LILI web site, then, books, shelter, and scroll down to either Wood stoves, Wind generators, or Solar Electricity. My books will be the first shown. Also available on Amazon and ebay. Please pass on the word to all like minded people, as I haven't signed up to advertising on my channel it is truly free info. Thanks

my husqvarna chainsaw had a problem,it can't start, when I start it,some of oil will come out from the plug.what is the problem.
@TheInfoworks

You have flooded the cylinder with too much fuel. Take the plug out and turn the engine over slowly a few times, then leave overnight before re fitting the plug. Check the plug electrodes and give them a good clean. Cheers

Owh ok,thank you for the answer, so if my chainsaw alright,maybe I just can't really full the tank for gas and oil.is that right?
@TheInfoworks

No, it might be that you were trying to start it with the choke on for too long. Or it might be that the plug is dirty or not working, or the air filter blocked. There could be many reasons. Cheers
