Worked like a charm- thanks! My Husqvarna 351 leaked bar lube from day one. I returned it under warranty to Better power in Waterbury, Vermont, USA and they could never figure it out. I put up with this much longer than I should have... A constant battle with bar lube leaking everywhere - and now not a drop! I would add that it is nice to use a clutch removal tool on this saw. Thanks Theinfoworks... if I ever find myself down on your side of the globe - I will buy you a beer.

The Hylomar finally came in the mail. Made a clutch removal tool, then got down to the oil pump. My 357xp is different than the 346... has rubber blocks for both inlet and outlet which simply press against the pump body... just little teats on the pump, no hose fittings. I put a film of Hylomar on the rubber blocks and reassembled. The leaking has stopped! Incredible. Thank you so much for posting your video!!! Oh, I get a little piddle of oil when I screw on the oil filler cap, but during use, or sitting on the floor.... no leaks... thank you again.

For what it's worth, I own a 350 and a 44 and never had an oil leak until I switched to some Master Mechanic "cheap oil". I eventually went back to Some Stihl oil and now using tractor supply's product and the oil leaks went away. Not at all saying that there are not other reasons, but just glad the fix for me was so easy. It seems as long as there is plenty of STP in the product the results are excellent. My 44 must be well over 20 years old and has been used and abused and still a great saw. They just don't make em like they once did.

Sounds like the chain oil is getting on to the exhaust. I had this with an MS250. It was a plug in an oil gallery that had come out allowing oil onto the exhaust. Clean the area up and investigate, could be other reasons but see where the oil is going when the saw is running. It may be that the bar oiling is poor also. Cheers

Not supprised, some dealers can be bad news. I am not familiar with your model, but if you are getting some oil then the pump will be working to some extent. I suggest you watch parts of the 350 rebuild series, as the oil pump and filter are different from the 346. The oil filter is in a different place. I would check and clean out the oil tank, oil filter, check the oil pump worm drive and drive dogs, and the oil passages and the bar oil holes. Hope that gives you something to work on. If you are using a bar that is too long for the saw that will not help. Also bio-oil can crystalise and block things up. let me know how you get on, cheers. Subscribed?

I have a husky 55 rancher I'm having this issue with. Unfortunately mine is quite different then this and I can't seem to figure out the problem. I did purchase a new oil pump but I haven't installed it yet. First I took old one apart and cleaned it and I also inspected and compared it to the new one. After I cleaned it I didn't see anything wrong with it or that could go wrong. It's leaking when the saw is off but I did put 10w 40 motor oil in it before I cleaned it to see if it would pump it and it didn't seem to but that was before I cleaned it. Now it's still leaking and not pumping oil on the bar. I'm wondering if it's missing something.

@@TheInfoworks well this one is different. I honestly don't see exactly how it works because the spline is part of the shaft and can only see it when the pump is removed but I'm sure it's touching but kinda weird. Hi, if you are talking about oil coming out from behind the side plate then the only reason is that the oil cannot find its way into the bar. Maybe the bar holes no longer line up with the oil groove in the saw body, or you have changed the bar for a different kind, investigation required before you use te saw again, cheers

@TheInfoworks4 жыл бұрын
Hi, it is normal for oil to be sprayed from the tip of the bar when the saw is running and the chain being driven. When the saw is ticking over there should be no oil as with modern saws the oil pump is not driven until the chain moves. The pump is driven from the clutch. On early saws the pump with driven all the time and so a pool of oil could be seen when a saw was ticking over. If you are getting an oil pool it could be that the bar is not fitted correctly, or there is some other fault, hope this helps. Please like and subscribe, cheers

Or Husky could correct the specs and solve the "simple issue" themselves. I've had my new 440 for less than a year, love the way it performs. But it started leaking chain oil on the 2nd or 3rd time I used it! Surprised to learn this is a common issue for chainsaws in general, though I understand things get worn out. But this is more a design flaw, straight from the factory. I shouldn't have to damn near take the entire thing apart to put a "small dab" of glue on the end of hose, just to get it to not leak everywhere. Certainly not a new unit.

You have flooded the cylinder with too much fuel. Take the plug out and turn the engine over slowly a few times, then leave overnight before re fitting the plug. Check the plug electrodes and give them a good clean. Cheers

Owh ok,thank you for the answer, so if my chainsaw alright,maybe I just can't really full the tank for gas and oil.is that right?

No, it might be that you were trying to start it with the choke on for too long. Or it might be that the plug is dirty or not working, or the air filter blocked. There could be many reasons. Cheers
