They are a great firewood saw 👍. Base gasket delete and a timing advance perks them up nicely on top of the MM. Have a great weekend and merry Christmas. Forgot to say, the 455/460 rancher clutch cover is a great upgrade too as it gives you a nice large side tensioner instead of trying to find that little one in there.

so to make a comment on the part where your complaining that it is low on power for a 70cc saw ... this isn't a 70 cc saw it is a 359 with a big bore kit ... the power still has to go through a 259 crank , clutch , sprocket and bar ..... i haven't had a 357/359 apart , so i can't speak to how well theses parts will hold up to the higher hp .... but you are putting 50% more power through it . also with the smaller saw , it won't wear you out and you will be faster and less tired operating it ..... which would make it a more productive saw over one on a larger heavier frame that makes more hp
@dynojoemods2764
@dynojoemods2764 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the rest of it is lighter than the 70cc saws. But with the engine itself displacing 72cc 34mm stroke x52mm bore I had hoped to make the same type of power as my other 70cc builds. It is a nice saw to run and use. Huge increase over stock.
@chrisvincent5938
@chrisvincent5938 Жыл бұрын
I would add that this 359 is only 34mm stroke. This I believe would also hold this saw back as the modern 70cc saws now carry 36mm strokes. Night and day difference between an 038 and the 044

While it doesn't seem super impressive for a 70cc saw, it would also be nice if you report power/weight. This is what really matters for a chainsaw, since you have to carry it. I think people get a little too focused displacement. While it is generally going to be the limiter on power, power:weight is what makes a saw usable.

I ran a 359 for the first time just a couple weeks ago. It was completely stock and I was in LOVE! The reason I liked it so much is because it felt sooooo similar in size and weight to a 350, but with an additional 10cc! I bet it feels Amazing with even more cc's. I would be bummed too with only 6hp though. Definitely a disappointment and surely it should be capable of more power than that. Gotta be getting held back. I for one would love to see you work the bugs out of this saw. VERY interresting. I would also love to see it compared to a good ported 359 and 357. But I think you may have those in another video. I'm pretty sure I've seen that you have gotten the Echo 620 to produce 6.8 hp and Charlie has gotten 7.2 hp, so yeah...if I built a 70cc saw that only produced 6hp...I'd be totally bummed out. Gotta be something going on. My heart weeps for you!

that seemed easy ...... i wonder if there is room for a 58mm big bore cylinder from a 395 ? :D so along the same lines as your build , it seems very possible to fit a 272 cylinder onto a 257 / 262 ( maybe even with a 254 with a 257 / 262 crank ).... which would be very similar to your build , only smaller, lighter , and with worse antivibe
