Thank you for this video, I bought my Epic recently and needed a tutorial like this. I will make a video in Spanish for Those who bought the machine and need this tutorial too.
@marywhite48578 жыл бұрын
Hello, just bought my Epic. I am still getting to grips with it, it's a lovely machine. The one thing I am disappointed with though is the instruction manual. With the machine you only get a very shortened version, and that leaves out many fundamental things you need to know. I discovered that there is a much longer one you can download, but I really feel this should have been included with the machine itself. I *know* you have the tutorials on the machine itself, but you have to be very familiar with the machine before you can find them all. It is much easier to have the printed version in front of view at times. To get the extra 150 pages you have to download the longer manual, then print it off - all 150 pages extra. That's a lot of paper, a lot of ink and a great deal of time (for printing rather than the downloading). I really think for a top of the range machine that this should be included. You pay a lot of money for this, and it should be included for that price. It doesn't just contain little extras, it contains information you really need to know!! What is worse, you are not even told that there is a longer manual online, so if you are a struggling newbie, you don't even know that there is this to find.Please could this be mentioned to the powers that be! It really isn't difficult for them to add, and it isn't unreasonable to have a full instruction manual provided.
@PaulaStorm8 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary, I appreciate what your saying but I think the reason they have done this is because the full manual is already in the machine. Personally I have never even opened my manual because everything I need to know is just one press away. If you click on the Joyos adviser and then click on Knowledge centre you will see the full manual is there. Not just the tutorials but the full manual. If you are in the middle of something and need to know how it works you just press on the question mark across the top of the screen and then click on any item. A brief explanation will come up telling you what it does, or you can click on the bar that says for a more detailed explanation click here. Then you will be taken to that exact page in the manual saving you time trying to find the right page... I know some people really like a book to hold in their hand, but personally I haven't missed it... Hugs Paula

Thanks for your reply, but there are things I cannot find. My key one at the moment is how to adjust stitch width, and I'm not even sure this is possible! I know it sets this automatically, but I need to be able to change this. I'm using the zigzag, and need it to be really wide, but the machine only stitches out a really narrow one. I can adjust the length, but not the width. What I thought might be the width seems to change the tension or the foot pressure, I'm not quite sure. I don't know any sewer who does not need to do this at times.If you can tell me where I can find how to do this, or the instructions, I'd be really pleased!
@PaulaStorm8 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary, Yes you can definitely change the stitch width on pretty much every stitch in the machine. You know how theres the tutorial that you have showing across the bottom of your screen, if you close that you will see the width adjustment buttons underneath it. Regards Paula PS. the other adjustment at the top is to adjust the new thread feeding system. This eliminates the tension disc's so you get a perfect stitch even with fussy metallic threads.

Thanks Paula, I learned several things. I was disappointed it did not include the large instruction booklet. I did download it and copy it, had holes put in it and then into a binder. I absolutely love the machine. it sews great and the embroideries come out perfect. My Designer Diamond (loved it) I had for 10 years and it started to break down, I took it in , they sent it off and too cost too much to repair so they threw it away. There was so many problems with it. I guess I wore it out. I do sew everyday. I do think it is worth the cost it if you use it a lot. I thought I may be too old for it,(76) to get my use out of it, but I have granddaughters that like to sew as well. The best part is that financing is available with no finance charges for 5 years. I also got $5000 credit for my Diamond. So I pay $145. a month til it is paid off. I can afford the monthly charge. Sometimes I pull up the manual on my tablet and set it up in a stand beside the machine so I can read it. It s also a good method for a tutorial . I use a memory stick for all my embroideries. I bought an extension for the memory stick as it is kind of hard to put the stick in. I like how you just have to tap/hold the embroidery on the screen, then you can dump it or make changes to the embroidery. I have a problem with the machine screen as I cant seem, to find out the size of embroidery I have put in the machine., Im sure I already know it but would like to see it on the screen, it does show the size of the hoop to put on. I love to make doll clothes, doll quilts and large quilts as well and clothing for people. lots of bags, etc, etc.. so many embroideries so little time. I joined the epic clup, but mostly they do new feet projects. maybe I missed the beginning classes. Now I have to sell items from my Designer Diamond. I was able to use some of t he items on the Epic. I thank you again for the tutorial, I will be watching for others . Have fun no matter what you do. jeanne

Paula, Could you please post a video of the Viking Epic machine sewing and embroidering with no back ground music. The reason I ask is because when I tested the machine at my local dealers it made a whining, whiring sound when sewing, and the embroidery unit was also very noisy. Of all the videos on You Tube for this machine, all of them have back ground music! I wanted to compare the sounds I heard at my dealers, to other Epic owners machines. Thank you.

Hello Paula, will you please explain what the numbers are directly above the stitch length. On the basic sewing screen... it also seems to have an "on/off button " I have no idea what it is for, and I haven't been able to find the link or any tutorial on it! Please HELP!! Thank you in advance!
@susancarne38986 жыл бұрын
Hi Karren, the numbers directly above the stitch length is for tension. if you are in stitch A2 a standard straight stitch the number probably reads 50. the is a swirl with two black dots and a small circle around the swirl. The white button to the right is not really an on/off button. It is called an alternate switch button. It will toggle between the two types of tension that are built into this machine. Standard tension is a pressure system and the second system is a metering system. Your dealer can explain this better, maybe with a demo. Whenever you see the little white button it indicates that there is another function underneath that you can toggle to. If you see the button next to stitch length you toggle to control the density. If the little white button is below by the stitch width, you toggle to the needle position. In embroidery there are more little white buttons. Check with someone local, they can show you these features.

The Epic is about 5 inches wider (not including the embroidery arm). It is big. Husqvarna Viking website has a side by side comparison chart. The Epic can do larger embroideries. The Epic is a lot more money. Many are very satisfied with their Brilliance 80. Hard to justify the added cost and weight.

@seagreentangerine20657 жыл бұрын
If you're buying one of these incredible machines, regardless of model, you MUST make sure the supplier runs the Owner courses. Yes, you could learn from the machine, but lots of us learn by being shown in a class situation. Do not buy one without that course, otherwise you could end up like some ladies I've interviewed recently, they have mega expensive machines.... never used them, bought at retirement, never used... that's a real crying shame, a gorgeous machine gathering dust. I can recommend two UK Midlands/North places - Coles in Nottingham and another dealer in Sheffield whose name escapes me but it's run by a group of very knowledgeable women.

Paula I have both the Ruby deluxe (great machine) and recently bought Diamond Royale. Would I be doing myself a favour by selling both and invest in an EPIC rather. What is your thoughts on this. I must admit that I am not really using the Diamond as I found that I could not do much more on this machine than on my Ruby.
@PaulaStorm7 жыл бұрын
Hi Linette, I think you will need to sit down and have a demo on the Epic to see if it will suit you. Personally I had the diamond and I loved it! Before I saw the Epic I really didn't think it could be that much of an upgrade. I just couldn't imagine that the features could get any better! I was so wrong! The Epic is so easy to use! The screen is so much more user friendly and there is quite a few new features. The resize feature is one of my favourites. Personally I'm very glad I changed over, the Epic is much bigger, it is also much easier to use, so if that's important to you I would suggest you have a demo of the Epic. I hope that helps xxx

How much is this machine? Where can I buy it? I live in utah and plan to start my own buisness making and selling things (like apparel quotes baby blankets Etc) and I am looking for a machine like this but I am finding it hard to find the prices.

You're right Rachel, it's very difficult to find the prices on all Viking machines. They want to get you hooked first then tell you the shocking price.......hahaha. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE my Epic and have never regretted trading up to my 4th Designer machine in the last 10-12 years. The MSRP is or was $15,000 18 months ago. It may have come down a little by now but please always wait for the sales/deals/trade-in offers and you can save thousands off the MSRP. It's still a lot of money but if you sew every day like I do - worth it to me.

It's hard to find the price on any expensive machine! It irritates me when I have to email the company to ask

I had a problem with my sewnet. When I down loaded it, it caused my machine to shut down due to a problem. I had it in the shop several times, and they couldn't figure it out. I stopped the sewnet and the problem stopped. I was very discouraged! I will never use this again, I always use my USB stick instead.

So sorry to hear this. I use my sewnet all the time and have never had an issue. Love getting alerts on my phone in another room when it's time to change thread color, etc. Don't give up - completely uninstall the app and reinstall and try it again. Good luck

Your tutorial was really helpful however. I would love some more on particular features, maybe showing the steps in more detail (for the non technically savvy like me). I love your presentation style, it's really easy to follow what you say. Thanks :)

A lot but they do have promotions. $14,999 was the latest price but again look for the promotions Husqvarna Viking (HV)offers. Just got mine with a trade in and it was $1,000 off list, plus my trade in and $100 to spend at HV store and trolley
