A very good video. I have a Janome binding foot and have never used it. I already machine bind my quilts by attaching the binding to the back of the quilt pulling it to the front and stitching it down on the front with a decorative stitch. Someone commented you talk a lot..you do..but that’s what we are here for..to listen to you talk about this product. What I appreciate is your confidence in speaking and not giving us a lot of umms and ahhs. Well done, thank you.

excellent tute! i dont have this machine but i have some binder feet that i could never get to work. when you showed the tech for pressing the seam ripper down in front of the foot, i realized that that was where the problem was🤗. also, the glue stick is also a good idea for getting all the corners neat (i usually get 3 of 4 good and one that just wont behave). thanks for the tips. i came to see what a binder was and glad i stayed for the tute!🙃

Hello thanks Sarah! Very pleased to have this new video. Just one 'however' - we were showed this by Jamie Warren last year at Coles when the product was introduced, and a couple of times since. He did say, you don't need bias strips unless you are working round curves. He also used strips that weren't on the bias.

We are trying to figure out what presser foot you are using. We have a ton of presser feet but we don't know which one you're using here. Do we need it to get the best results? After spending so much on this attachment I would hate to have to spend a bunch more money on another presser foot! This foot wasn't included with our attachment.

How wide do you cut the binding strips? Abs what is the finished size? I have 3 of the attachments ordered. The 32mm has arrived. That’s 1 1/4. Is that the width I cut the fabric or the folded binding width?

Great video. I wish these manufacturer's would realize that a binding under 2" is not a good measurement for an actual bed quilt! Ugh...ridiculous. 2-2 1/2" is the standard...they should make their devices accordingly.

Will a 2.5” standards width binding tool be introduced? It would be nice as an add on for the already purchased binding tool.
@ElderPinkerton
@ElderPinkerton 2 жыл бұрын
That's what we are thinking too. With the 2 1/2" you have two layers of fabric. I'm afraid after they're laundered a few times the fabric is going to wear through and we will have to turn around and rebind the quilts that the little kids are using.

Was this one easier than the bias binder foot? Do they both leave just a single piece of fabric for the outside edge? Not like when we take a 2 1/4" fold in half, to get 2 layers of fabric for the regular way to bind a quilt. Wow! That is hard to explain. Haha! I hope you understand what I was meaning.

Just got my binder yesterday. I have watched a few videos about this, but had not heard anyone mention that the strips had to be on the bias. Personally, in the past, I have preferred to cut my binding strips on the straight grain. Have found it works well for me, and on all the quilts I have done it has never been an issue. I have manually turned the corners in the same manner. Can I still cut my strips on the straight rather than on the bias?
@HeirloomCreations
@HeirloomCreations 4 жыл бұрын
The quilt binders really do best with the extra "give" that bias strips offer. Trust me, once you start using bias strips for all your bindings, you will never go back to straight of grain binding. ;) Sara

I have a question about the presser feet of the singer machines or in your case the generic pressers can be adapted to the husquevarna 116 smeralda machine? is that the singer 3333 has the same type of Stilt foot than the husquevarna 116. Is that possible or is there a difference?! Greetings and thanks for your videos

Hello, thank you for the excellent video. You mentioned the walking foot at the beginning of the video, but then used a different foot (the megs piping foot?). Why would you not use the walking foot?
@quiltlover3891
@quiltlover3891 3 жыл бұрын
Since the author is not replying, she stated in the video that she likes the visuals with the mega piping foot better. She felt that the walking foot was hard to see around and maneuver her fabric. I can see after watching the video why you would need a slender foot that you can both see all around and be able to get in there and really move your fabric. Other than being able to see more, there was no reason why you can't use the walking foot, it was just her preference to use the mega piping foot as it works well and she felt she could see more and control more.

Good video and I just finished watching your other one with the smaller binding foot options. After watching all of these I really don't care for the size, like another commenter said, when will these engineers actually ask quilters what size these binders should be made for and second, I really don't like the finish at all. I think I will stick to a more traditional approach and use what you posted in your video from a few years ago about having the binding with what I would call a flange that allows you to stitch in the ditch on the top. Much more professional in looks. I suppose even with this you could always stop and finish the tails in a traditional method for a better finish but I still don't like the size for any bindings. 2 1/2" is the standard for a reason. ;)
