About the Spools hanging up: I made a round thingy out of 5mm felt. You stamp out the middle so that it fits the inner cylinder of the spool . Put it together and Bob's your uncle! Very informative Video!Thx for show and tell!

Thank you, this is an amazing walkthrough of the machine! Im currently collecting all the green machines i could find, i recently got a "cousin" of this sewing machine, the 21e, its lovely and free-arm!
@theprojectproject012 жыл бұрын
I have two of its freearm cousin, the 21s. Extraordinarily competent machines, and one of the few zigzaggers I've found that gives a really tidy straight stitch.

Thanks for this wonderful video. I bought a machine that looks the same, it came without the outer belt. Called Nordic zig zag. I bought a rubber belt today. It is made by Husqvarna. Motor is Danish made. I did open the back when I first got it but don’t think it has the cams. The motor would get in the way. I have several husqvarnas among other older machines. So tomorrow may see it working.

That's a Husqvarna model 49. They are solid machines but not very many were made. They're mostly the same as this machine without the cam mechanism. Your machine should be mostly parts compatible with the more common model 19 and 19e which were mostly the same but in a free-arm rather than in-table model.

Thanks for the video. I have a Viking comming from Goodwill tomorrow. Not a gem as yours but a 70 vintage . Your video gave me the push I needed to do a video once it's sitting pretty and running like a, drum roll please, .....sewing machine.

The "push-button-reverse" tends to gum-up on these old machines, so you can't select forward or reverse anymore. The remendy is to open up the machine in the right manner, apply heat, not much over 100 °C, applying 5-56 or WD-4, working the parts back and forth, wiping off excess oil, applying more oil, more heat, working the parts until they are completely free.
@bekanav7 жыл бұрын
Good advice. Even better is to take mechanism out. When I've done it it has been amazing how tough that gummed-up oil can be. But if your method is enough to solve the problem there is no reason to do it more arduous way.

Thank you for specifying thread size, T90 in your text. I have had a hard time finding this figure. I have been nervous, that the special shuttle hook driver and construction could cause lower possible thread size.

Beautiful... I got an hysvarna Rotary... I can’t find information about it, but it’s green like this one... and it seems older.

I think I have the same one you're describing. Did you find any info about it that maybe you could share?
@Drottninggatan20172 жыл бұрын
Rotary is the name they used for the straight stitch only machines. They are from the same years as this one. Probably started in late 1950 and went on to somewhere around 1967. The Rotary uses a lever for the stitch length, but that doesn't mean it is older than this one.

Hi, I have a 49e. It’s called Nordic Husqvarna. It is very similar to the one in video, but no cams. I’ve got it out to sell it (I have too many lovely old machines) but find it wants to stitch on the spot. I.e very short stitches. I have tried everything I can think of ,but nothing works. Do you have any ideas?

Hi, nice machine and video. Just to clarify something you say early on when you mention that this machine has 'a cast iron body. It's actually die-cast aluminium - much, much lighter! Makes a big difference to moving the machine around... Sam

I have and use a 21e. A beautiful machine. The motor is about 70-75 w. That is 1/10 hp. One hp is 736 W. Mine has two gears. I own a 2000/6440 also. This is stronger with more elastic stitches, but not better/finer .

Hi. I just got one like this, but it was not so well taken care of. I am trying to make it great again, but it doesn't have the bobbin case. I tried the Singer one, but it doesn't fit perfectly. Could you show me the bobbin case so I can buy the right model? I will have to import, since husqvarna is really hard to find in Brazil. So the price is really high for me and I don't want to get it wrong.

I have a Cl 51 A. Cannot get the hook to pick up the bobbin thread. Any advice, greatly appreciated. I have the needle in correctly. Just can't see anything that is wrong.
@thesergeant35244 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a timing issue. Take a look at the my video on "how to time sewing machine". Confirm that the needle and hook point are in the correct relative position. The other thing is confirm that you are holding the threads down before you start sewing. A lot of people don't realize you have to "trap the threads" when you start or you'll ended up with a birdsnest.

hello every one ..do u have a user menue of the cl 51 ....
@Drottninggatan20172 жыл бұрын
You can get a hint of what year the machine is built by looking at the serial number. It is inside the left hand cover. Probably it would be a letter and then 51 and then some digits. If the letter is M then it is 1958, if it is S then it is 1964, and so on, counting up. This system was used up to 1967.
@Drottninggatan20172 жыл бұрын
And also, to prevent the spool from spinning ahead and messing up the thread, you should have the felt washers on the spool pins.

Just gave my 12 year old daughter one of these, it's my grandmothers old machine. it works just fine for a few seconds until the belt starts slipping and it just stalls. Not sure if it is worth fixing or just scrap metal. Pretty cool looking retro machine and since it belonged to my granny i'm interested in finding out how much would the drive belt cost? I'm talking about the belt that is in the far right side between the flywheel (handwheel) and the motor.
@bekanav7 жыл бұрын
Worth fixing? You have just a simple belt too loose. It is like you said: My car has a flat tire, is it worth fixing or is it just scrap metal? There is screws in motor mount to adjust the belt tension. New belts are surely available for 5 bucks. Belts can be easily made from thick leather if new one is needed/not found. Hope this helps or you have fixed that problem already.

Goodnight. I bought a beautiful Husvarna machine, used, with furniture, now I have it broken, the bobbin jumps out of its place and begins to spin in its cover, the thread becomes tangled and it is impossible to sew. Also the tension button is loosened and slips out of place. in my country they don't know how to fix it. please what should i do. I don't want to have to get rid of it because I can't find a way for it to work. It is Viking 51 model.Thanks for your reply.
