I bought a Svartpilen 701 as a second bike earlier in the year off the back of your review. The bike is great fun, handles brilliantly and has loads of character. I purchased a 80 mile demo bike for £6500 and bought a Akra exhaust for £800 which I wouldn’t bother with as it’s too quite. Great review these are great bikes
@KnoxArmour4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gareth, glad you enjoyed it! Thats a great price for a great bike... yes I agree on the exhaust, honestly I'm personally a bit wobbly with aftermarket exhausts, they either don't add power or sound, or go the other way and they cock up the fueling, need remapped and are too loud for tracks... it does look good though! Thanks Aaron Knox

I didn't even know these existed until I happened to see a 2018 model on the street a few weeks ago. The bold styling and "701" on the tank instantly caught my eye and as soon as I got home I checked out what it was... None of the dealerships near me have any unfortunately but I'm really hoping to be able to see one in person sometime soon... only 6 months until riding season starts again. Aesthetically I think the 2020 701 is the best looking, really curious to see if a 2021 version will be introduced though.

Three months ago bought myself a 2020 701 supermoto and it was a close call between the vitpilen, cause it's drop dead gorgeous; at the end decided for the supermoto because of the long legs and the SM appeal. Great review, all the points you make are the same that drove me to 701 models, in the road you don't need more, that's more than enough and a lot of fun every time. Congrats for the excellent review, keep up the good work. Best regards.

So far, I’ve watched TMF, MOTOBOB, F9, Nothing to Prove, and Knox regarding this Vitpilen. I’ve had about eight years away from bikes, practically all of which were screaming inline-4s. First purchase, very shortly (so, I’ll be buying it and putting it to bed for the winter) is an immaculate, last of line Buell XB12S Lightning. Am I a Sadi-masochist? Possibly. As a result of these great reviews, I’ll be buying a new Vitpilen 701 as soon as spring is here. I will of course be taking a look a the Knox website to let myself out. Thanks for the content.

I have no problem keeping up with any bike on mine. Even if the other guy has spent three times as much. Very simple reason why... You can't go faster than you can stop. I love it. Its awesome. One of the best toys I've ever had. Its a proper larrikin machine for throwing around and testing yourself. I also like that it doesn't scream, it grunts. There are more and more mods available all the time too. Plus the chain guard, taller rear hugger, sprockets etc from the 690 duke go straight on, or carbon parts for its as I've used. Best mod I've made on mine so far is also the cheapest. A few more teeth on the back sprocket and an x-ring chain. The LV-10 pipe has been ordered now.

very nice report, i can only agree. i bought one in spring, thought for a long time: is that enough bike for me? the bike surely has an image problem. the sound takes getting used to, the tank is made of plastic...but: it's more fun than my superduke and all that in the (almost) legal speed range. perfect. no two cylinders, no 1200 ccm, sewing machine sound, you have to be able to live with that. but if you are at peace with yourself and don't need to attract the most attention at the biker meeting point, take the vitpilen. nothing is faster on the small roads here in austria. the chassis is a dream. since 1984, i have been riding to work every day plus for fun every free minute, the vit is my new toy, one that protects my driving licence.

Did you guys have to do anything to enable the two-button combo to disable the ABS? Or is it only a 2020 model thing? I've got a 2019 Svart 701 and while the TC is easy enough (hold the unmarked button) I've never managed to disable the ABS, which is a pain on dirt and gravel! Great video as always though, you guys really have the quality right up there.
@KnoxArmour4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Matt, appreciate your feedback. Actually, this was the first 701 derivative we turned the ABS off... purely because I've only just learned motorcycle stoppies ;). It should work on all of them though, but try turning the TC off first, then hold the TC button and the other one again for 5 secs and it should work. However, it is a bit fiddly, and as an example, if you don't do it absolutely perfectly on our 701 Enduro, you cant get it turned off. Best of luck, Aaron KNOX

Hi Mark, thats a really tough one. The FTR is faster and more powerful and also has fantastic character.
