I'm sitting here wondering how it would be with a normal 17" wheel ff the Vitpilan. I see no need for the bigger front wheel and would like the stance better and slight increase in maneuverability. My local dealer has one for $8000 US dollars but I have a KTM SMC 690R and its kinda the same bike--on stilts--except without the massive style--and WAY more $$. great engine for just riding and smiling.

It has heated grips and comes with tank and side bags. This seems like a lot to me what are your thoughts? Also, is this an every day bike to you and if you wanted to do about a 100 miles in a day on it do you think it is comfortable enough. I did not hear your thoughts on the highway does it feel like it would struggle to keep up. For the record I am in the U.S. so that might help with your thoughts on pricing etc Did they discontinue this bike? I do not see any 2022 at the website? Thanks

Cause I think the comfort isn't the big problem.

I think I'd personally prefer the Vitpilen, especially since it's a naked bike with clipons (which is one of the sexiest looks a bike can have, have a look at Speed Triples and MT's with clipon conversions). But then I can't say much, I've still got another few months until I can do my A2. The side panel behind the right pillion peg ruins the look a bit for me, if either both sides had it or neither sides had it, it'd look a lot better. By the way, with the Lake District, I'd love to take a trip over there, what roads would you recommend riding?

Thanks for the comment! In the Lakes there are loads of great roads depending on whether you want scenery or great riding. A favourite loop has to be Keswick-Ambleside-Kirkstone Pass-Ullswater-Matterdale-Keswick. Try that for a start and you wont be disappointed! Thanks, Aaron KNOX.

Hi Joao, thanks for the feedback and great question and not an easy answer!!! No doubt, the 790 Duke is a faster engine... but, both are really fun bikes. I had a 2004 tuono for years and sports bikes before it, fancied a change and after selling it a local dealer had a 03 sv650n, I had no intention of buying one but took it for a spin and loved it, I live in Ireland so with the type of roads we have I can have much more fun on the 650. The new sv would not be as premium a finish as the husky but if you haven't tried one, and you enjoyed the husky, you definitely should, especially considering the price compared to the husky.

just bought one, but i feel like the only premium stuff is the mechanical stuff. esthetics are all feeling like cheap plastics. the mudguards, handles, tank, all the visual sensors and elektronics. under 3000rpm its horrible, i dont like the sound coming from some triumph triples. but it made me smile like a child when testriding. you need to be in the right gear or you get punished and i like that 😅, and the gears are short and way more usable instead of the 70+ mph first gear on a 675 cc triumph street triple f.e.

Westerners call this a beginning bike. Europeans call this the right on bike! I always loved single cylinder bikes. SR 500 for example..

Anyone who wants premium components/set up/quality … sure. Go for it. But anyone who pays more for a “brand” - come on! Check yourself.

Believe it or not, if you do proper maintenance, most modern bikes are reliable.

@@millennialmalaise9386 yeah most of them are actually Japanese which are very reliable but not European shit and KTM engine are unreliable anyone with decent bike knowledge would tell you that.

It’s a KTM, at a higher cost.

MAKSTR If the new 890 doesn’t intrigue you I’d like to hear what bikes you have. I wasn’t knocking KTM, just stated a fact. My first bike was a Duke 390, second a 690 and regret getting rid of either.

I would prefer the KTM dash.

No offences, KTMs are great, but it's just a matter of taste, so there is no "correct" bike here. I would pay even more to have duke690 specs, but not having its' look. Never considered duke for myself, but when 2018 vitpilen appeared in local ktm/husky dealership it was the bike of choice immidiately, without even a test ride. It's my daily (any weather, winter as well) commuter and weekend twisties fun for a bit more than a year, no regrets at all.

Totally agree with the Vit/Svart Husqvarnas. Loved the Vitpilen and think, like you, this is a very underrated bike. If I had room, I'd get one. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqeZe3x6qqyMocU

Styling of Vitplien is much better, they should have just retained that with handle bars of Svartplien, and the lovely paint job of Svartplien , would be much better and appealing thing than this.

They didn't get the sound quite right. It is not even as impressive as the Royal Enfield bullet.

Lovey bike, shame you had to do wheelies on it, you shouldn't really as it encourages street cred muppets to do the same. You can enjoy any bike without doing wheelies. These should be kept for track days and green lanes.

at 9300 GBP the bike is cheap. If you think that is expensive go get a job.

But you would have to have money to burn, to consider a bike so tiny. I would hate to think how it would handle rough surfaces and strong crosss or head winds. To me it is an example of form overwhelming the function.
