Husqvarna Z254F Mower Parking Break Issue

In this video I share what I finally discovered having to do with in issue with the parking break on my Husqvarna Z254F Zero Turn Mower that has been frustrating me for the past 2 mowing seasons. Very simple fix. But you don't know what you don't know.

Spot on! Thank you for posting! I have had the same issue for about three mowing seasons on a Z246. Usually it would sputter and shut off if I didn't hurry to engage the arms after starting it up. Did what you suggested and now it runs like new.

Actually, I just watched your video last night. Got up this morning and in less than 5 minutes fixed my Husky 54. I too have been fighting it for the last 2 seasons. God bless you for putting out info that did help several of us. You gained a subscriber. Side note: how come it seems to only the left side that is plaguing us? I can't see under there either, but can hear a spring sounding off as it is expanding, like it is lightly rubbing on something. Could it be supplying tension for both arms but affecting the left more because of the way it is hung? I'm 72 and will have to wait for younger helpers that can get down there to figure it out. You are a life saver. I have the exact same model and the EXACT same problem that drives me crazy. I'll give this a shot as I'm convinced there might be a manufacturing defect in the support arms for the left handle. Thanks again and hope to report back success tomorrow!

I had the same problem on my z246 left handle. I did tighten the arm retaining nut, but it keeps coming loose. I don't know what else to do at this time.

I just bought a new Z254F (returned, prev purchased). It has a good battery but doesn't turn over. Parking brake/seat safety switch?

Sorry for the delay. Just now seeing this. Yes possibly one of those switches. Could also be something with the ignition switch.

Also check the relay under the ignition switch. Sometimes that relay will vibrate slightly loose, which can cause that issue.

My Z254F dies when put into gear. Don't know why.

Check the switch under the seat. If it starts, it knows it's in park. If it won't run with the blades engaged, it thinks the seat is empty.

My problem with my husky is the axles are both locked up after the customer let it sit for a year. I'm thinking it's the parking brake that's frozen in the transmission so I've been watching videos about parking brake problems. Even though your title says parking brake, it's got nothing about the parking brake in the video. Maybe retitle your video.
