This is great and what I needed for instruction.... yet somehow also entertaining.

Simple! Use your thumbs and wrap your hands around like you’re going to choke it. That was just what I needed. I snapped it together in seconds. Thanks!

I’m so glad to see other people struggle with what initially looks straight forward. Thanks for sharing this. Now, to my basement!

After watching this several times, I still can't assemble 4" air duct. I was almost reduced to tears today trying.

Thank you for showing this. I felt like an idiot until I watched this video. I had the exact same problem.

thanks for posting. It helped in the redo of my 2 furnaces wasted ducting, especially the snap unlock after mismeasurement.

The secret is to get one end started, and then use a strong spring clamp to hold it while you work it together the rest of the way down. Just did a heavier 26-gauge section that way.

Helped so much, thank you!

I hadn't done any duct work in 15 years. As my mother would say it is as easy as falling off a bike. Right. I spent an hour wrestling with just 3 pieces. I watched this video and refound my lost abilities just observing somebody that could do it blindfolded. I loved the outtakes but my video would have been much more embarrassing. 👍

Thanks! Seems like the smaller diameter pipe, the harder it is!

And this is the stuff to use for dryer vents going to the outside? No foil tape ?

Sure wish someone would show doing this on a small duct without putting bends in the metal. It's a lot easier on big duct like this. Hoping this would show some nifty trick. Good for the basic technique, though.

Ken Clark thank you for your positive feedback in your comment. We will have to opportunity to make more duct work videos next January 2020 when we start the 2 semester with air distribution. I will take your suggestion under consideration.

The smaller the duct diameter, the harder it is to assemble for a given material and thickness gauge. The 3-inch galvanized steel ducts used as water heater vents are the worst.
@conchim997 ай бұрын
I had to zip tie every 6 inches or so. It is so hard. It kept popping out without anything to hold one end. I have strong fingers and hands but look like 3 inches for dryer vent is so hard. 😢

Once together, would you tape the seam?

Shouldnt come apart after, if you mean when install into other sections of pipe, yes, some use rivets to maks sure it never comes apart.
@davidr32464 жыл бұрын
Now show it with 3” pipe
@andrewhendrick33472 жыл бұрын
Yeah your example should have been a 4-in aluminum galvanized not as easy as what you're showing

Nice. Now try 26 gauge
@josevillalta74033 жыл бұрын
Is easy just flip it is just they do it backwards
@garywilliams72335 ай бұрын
It looks like you are using 30 gauge duct..26 gauge is a lot harder to get it to come together because it is a whole lot stiffer.

THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE
@AnthonyHoekstra5 жыл бұрын
Hili P repetition is key. It gets easier with time. After awhile you don't even think about it while you are assembling duct work. Thank you for your comment.
