Do you have any advice for a 19 year old installation apprentice who just started at a local company in Utah? Other than school and certs, I'll begin a 2 year class this fall. I'm a big fan of your videos by the way, the cinematography is superb. You inspire me not only in HVAC but also to create a KZbin channel of my own, eventually.

How’s it going? I just wanted your feedback on wireless temp sensors that I can monitor via iPhone. Any recommendations? I do my share of service and installs but with the cold winter it is beneficiary to not have to keep going inside and out numerous times in one visit. Temp probes or strap on sensors to monitor supply air and pipe temp. Any suggestions will help. Thanx

Great vid bro, I had a question is it normal for leads to get real frustrated with a guy still learning an to go as far as to yell and talk crap to you. Makes it difficult to work like that
@ianicus1235 жыл бұрын
that question about school is a no brainier, absolutely school. In Canada we have no choice, to work on refrigerating equipment you need to be a certified journeyman or an active apprentice, and its all strictly regulated through the government, who issues you your certification once you complete your 4 year apprenticeship (including 4 stints at school, 2 months a piece) it always blows my mind that down south any old joe can pick up some tools and start doing refrigeration/ac

Why is it so damn hard to get into industrial HVAC. I tried at so many companies, but have been rejected each time. Do you think is because I'm new to the trade and they don't want to have to train me?
@AKHVAC5 жыл бұрын
Hard to say...did you try a bunch of companies through the internet or in person? Walking in the door, a handshake and a commitment to doing good by them goes a long way today just like it did 50 years ago. If youre new to the trade maybe try a residential company to get some more experience and exposure while you continue looking to move industrial.

AK what up. I need some help picking a manifold. I have yellow jackets analog, but it’s time for a new one. Had these for 4 years
@AKHVAC5 жыл бұрын
If you're going back for analogs, try NAVAC's. Several models available and extremely durable. If you're going smart/digital, until NAVAC releases a fully loaded digital manifold I liked the YJ P51-870's I started using last summer.

I am an installer working 7 months already, I don’t seem to really enjoy the no guide in learning with my crew, I asked for help and for to go to school and it seems no one wants to teach anymore or put the time for you when your new. also would like to be a tech but being in installs takes a total different look when lifting heavy equipment. I been trying and with hard work drive it hurts when they don’t give us 35 or 40 hrs in slow season, kinda lost on what to do. Also I always want to work but when we are slow they make us not coming in and stay at home barley get to ride with a tech. I have to beg for hours. A company should want you at work, not the other way, I thought.

@AKHVAC5 жыл бұрын
Fluke 902 has never let me down my whole career. The last 2 years or so I almost exclusively used wireless probes vs a manifold (Testo and Fieldpiece). For analogs I'd say give the NAVAC manifolds a shot, extremely rugged and functional.

Started hustling in the field. Chasing work. I can never be basic and settle in anything I do. I got lucky and jumped into a refrigeration company out of school and have been blessed since then. It’s up to the individual to take hisself where he wants to in this field. There is no limit to where you can take yourself here. I am currently training to get RETA certified and work on ammonia systems. Anything o chase that dollar is what I’m hunting for. Refrigeration is year round and that’s what I’m looking for.

@@michaelowens1890 I'm in the process of building my career up, I'm two weeks into a HVAC company but I'm starting in the wearhouse. They know my goal is to be a HVAC technician so I'm just soaking up as much as I can in the shop. I'm coming from a security job so I know very little about HVAC.
