Greg, greetings from San Antonio, TX., where we have had one long hot dry summer. All the licensed hvac companies have been busy. Being retired from the hvac field, I have easily transferred experience reading schematics and understanding logic functions of timers etc. to my Speed Queen electric dryer ADE3LRGS171TW0 and Amana electric dry NED4655EW1. The Speed Queen has a part labeled cycling thermostat, that controls cabinet temperature settings from the fabric temperature switch. This part has a N/C set of contacts, that open due to the heating element in the part, so this part has 4 terminals, 2 for the contacts and 2 for the heater. The part reads L 153-15F. Your valuable video has provided important information. Thanks for your added insight on reading these parts.

You are by far the best teacher/tech I've seen on here and your vids are outstanding. I was wondering if you knew any "real techs" in the hvac world in the Greensboro NC area. I have an old Williams furnace with heat strips and they keep blowing the fusible links which doesn't make sense that the limit switch doesn't cut them off before the links blow. Now my heat strips are staying on even when the heat is switched off and just run the fan. Nobody wants to actually work on these old units and keep trying to sell me a new one. Thanks in advance for any help

My switch L145 -30F, Great video confirmed what the numbers mean and I was able to resolve issue. Issue I had was end of heat cycle the blower was turning off too early. My system has air dam limit switch. I removed air dam during summer to help lower static pressure for best A/C flow. After understanding how limit switch work, I replaced air dam, all is good.

I bought two thermodiscs for my hot blast wood/coal furnace. Both of them don’t work right. On off on off every few minutes! Then maybe a half hour working right. Called the company. They said these are sensitive to drafts and may work better in time. I think they must be defective because I saw a website where people complain about the same problem. The old thermodisc worked perfectly for years until it wore out. The only thing I had to do to fit the thing into the cover, was I had to bend the prongs inward , to be straight rather than angled outward, because I couldn’t fit the cover over them.

Amazing video! Perfect remaining before the heating season. Thank you. The ones I've asked the supplier give me a replacement for the flame rollout switch. It was my first heating season on the field. He brought me the switch without manual reset and with membrane metal protector. I thought then it's wrong. But he said "its direct replacement". Don't trust everything that seller will tell you. Am I right? Another thing I've to discover than flame rollout switch without metal protector, come on the way faster than with it. typical 5-7 sec. And with metal protector almost +10sec. (15-17sec total). And in case of the open fire, it's faster shot off the gas valve. And prevent wiring inside the cabinet of burning. The point, if you working with the gas furnace repair, YOU will responsible for the Lifes! Put ONLY properly parts. If you don't sure, ask the expert. Or live the job. You will save someone life.

I have a friend with a thermopile gas boiler. The unit gets up to 225 degrees so he’s replacing the aquastat with a L4006A Honeywell . He showed me a picture of his pile and it has a black box with two. Stake-ins that go to a sensor that is taped to the thread well sensor of his aquastat. Explain this device and its function . He seems to think it’s an ECO safety??.

Thank you for this informative video! I'm now trying to fix my electric heater and I suppose that one of the thermal switches on it is broken. However I can't really test it because I'm not sure if it's normally open like the other switch. The part name (ksd302) is used for both NO and NC switches. I tried applying pressure and heated it with a lighter with no effect. So either it's normally closed and I didn't get enough heat or it's normally open but broken. Is there any other test I can do to know whether it's supposed to be normally closed or open?

I believe the trouble I'm having is with the limit safety switches the high heat switch was bad and now i want to replace the high and low limit switch just to make sure . these switches turn on & off the blower motor. the numbers of the switches are F135-1.5 R9V and the other is L180-3.5 V9V My question is the last three letters/numbers on it what do they mean are they important?

I pulled a high limit on a high efficiency gas furnace, but failed to notice what position it was in before removing it. It's a L250-25F Nordyne part for Norydyne furnace. From a vertical position, it can be installed slanted right or left with sensor up or down. There was no air dam below this switch, but was something off to the left of it... possibly the heat exchanger. Can you tell me the correct position for this switch. Switch sensor is about 3 inches deep into furnace from the front face of the furnace it's mounted onto. Red leads about 3" long with black mounting plate with offset notches top and bottom.

Thank you for making this video. I have voltage on one side of a new F110-20 fan switch but it never gets warm enough to actually turn the blower on. The furnace does run and heats up (and the heat spreader gets hot) but the switch itself never changes state. I pulled it out and ohmed it while it was on a space heater and it does change state so the switch is good. Does anyone know why it might not be getting hot enough when the furnace is running? I'm really confused. lol.

Follow up: I pulled the thermoswitch out and ran a heat probe into the slot and ran the furnace. It never got higher that 95 degrees at the switch. I double checked the inducer motor and it is running and has a good seal against the frame. I also put a probe up by the heat exchange and it got up to 190. I got scared after that and turned the furnace back off. Anyone got any idea what might be going on because I'm lost. lol.
