HVAC VFD Operations & Troubleshooting

This months hvac training I will be going into variable frequency drive operation and troubleshooting. I will detail how to go through basic troubleshooting steps to confirm VFD operation. A VSD (variable speed drive) is the same thing as a VFD. This is a good one for a hvac technician.

I use to use welding bond kits for these larger connections. Also use to do infra-red pictures to give to my customers free. Camera was not a high dollar one but would help. I educated customers about the importance to have it done on thier entire building once atleast every 5 years. Showed them how to get discounts on thier insurance by having it done

You could check the bridge rectifier and IGBT reverse bias diode check of the inverter board by using the 12 point checks

It's more than just being true RMS DMM. The DMM needs to have a low pass filter so it sees the RMS voltage without seeing the invidual PWM pulses.
