your absolutley right, they thought it was a scaled evaporator and changed it. Thats where thoroughness comes in. Other night I was checking a 5 well steam table and it was 8pm and I just wanted to check the heater to the well they were complaining about. But you kept popping up in my head and saying "look at the big picture". I did and I found two other wells with their safety limits bypassed and the unit is not grounded!! You are teaching great attitudes. Thank you sir.

Glad you mentioned the Cube Guide. Customers often don't want to replace that even though it's so cheap compared to a Water Pump. I always tell them "It's up to you, but this Cube Guide is about $40 and your Pump is about $400-$700." That line usually gets their attention xD

It's always important to make sure the right parts are on the machine to eliminate any problems that might arise. However it is good to install a water filter system with a water pressure guage to make sure you are getting enough water pressure. Usually when a bin thermostat goes bad either the machine wont come on or the machine wont turn off. It is good to use a volt meter with ohms and continuity to check the bin thermostat. Many times also a defective or dirty float switch can cause a freeze up on the evaporator for Hoshizaki

90% of ice machines have quite a bit of mold in them most people don’t keep up with cleaning
@kurtheil49224 жыл бұрын
Yeah most of the big bulk ice makers have mold in them and unless they get cleaned on a regular basis. Which with most companies doesn't happen because that would mean you'd have to spend labor dollars on it and the labor at most places is barely enough to keep the doors open much less do thing like clean machines like the are supposed to be. If you think that ice bin is bad you don't want to know what a fountain machine looks like. I started managing a convenience store and got taught how to properly clean the machine I've never drunk fountain drink ever again.

I don't know about the newer machines but 15-20 years ago When I had a bad freeze up on a Hoshi it was normally related to harvest problems. Hoshi is my favorite machine. I heard Hoshi had problems with evap plates separating but I only ever saw it once and I worked on a lot of them. I could work on them all day, though I do not anymore. Over the years 98% of ice machine problems are water side. Replace maybe 2 compressors and one expansion valve and maybe one bin stat. Lots of check valve rebuilds.

If the machine had a history of evaporator freeze up, It could have been why the evaporator went bad. Those evaps are made of stainless steel. the coils are sandwiched between the plates. So, if water gets between those plates it will over time separate the plates from the coil.
@sirrealism58064 жыл бұрын
Thank you for mentioning this. I was going to say the same thing. Not very often have I seen one leak but many times you see the tubes broken from the evap plate. This causes long freeze issues.

Anyhow ,in the past 7 months i've had 7 ice ups, never any fault beeps, always defrosted and checked every component to work, its makes ice a ok..did the full ice up fault sheet for Hoshi USA and they saw no issue with water or anything else.. once it ran for a 68 min freeze cycle,after i defrosted it ,i changed PC board, then discovered Hoshi manual says dip switch setting are max 60 mins, but its wrong and those dip switch settings are 70 min max freeze cycle factory set... iv'e set dip switches for 50 min now... have been given a new water valve , new float, changed, still ice ups at irregular intervals.. .. 12 days, 7 days,40 days,12 days,80 days.14 days.. David at Hoshi USA is stumped,30 emails later.. ive put 6 of these in and never had issues over the past 8 years.. this model has magnetic bin switch, seen bin full and off 10" under ice head countless times, tested bins switch a 100 times.it works..im getting a new comp relay to fit soon... any clues out there USA Techs...??? thorough job on that machine Chris..

Good learning info, good detail, but deicing, running multiple cycles, looking up all that info. weighin ice and water times adjusting board. must of took 3.5-5hr hr service call. Inless ur company not to busy way to much time spent, normal to have 3-7 calls a day. Also proper water valve, bigger water line, and proper bin extension lots of customers will ask. it been running like that for years why all of the sudden won't work? 95 percent of the time 1 part out or just got to dirty. Good job tho.

What about the lack of ever pure water filter combo 3filters installed to protect the plate
@HVACRVIDEOS5 жыл бұрын
great catch this customer doesn't have water filters on most of their ice machines, but I will be submitting a quote to install some. I was just thinking that! Why spend 30K on an ice machine and not put a filter on it?

Have you dealt with the new KMS- 2000 MLJ models.i have two units which are at two separate stores about 100 apart and they're both freezing up they got installed 2019. I've tried following hoshis check list and I end up short and baffled.
