Which line is quicker checked: In Gfred 53, What Have I Just Done? Broughy goes past the J's Bonds sign at 9:49, goes up the Hotlap route, and tags the checkpoint at 12:09, 2min20sec later. (This was a stream record run, in the dry.) In this Gfred, Broughy goes past the J's Bonds sign at 11:51 and tags the checkpoint at 14:25, 2min34sec later. This run was in the wet *and* Broughy loses a few seconds overshooting at the top of the mountain. There is a very strong chance that the Goldilocks line is faster overall: even if it's not, it's probably more reliable because there's no river jump, no train, no need to ride the rails, and no narrow bridges.

yep, Saucercats line is about 10 secs slower, but as you say, fewer random events and choke points, but has more chance of oversteer and AI crashes through the Stab City section

We don't call the Hail Mary the "Sarah" line, or the run from the highway to the train tracks the "Oleg" line. So many people have contributed various different lines to Gfred over the years. None of them have had their names attached to any of them so this wouldn't be any different. A name is just a name. I'm personally not a fan of "Elevator" line as it doesn't really make much sense to me in the context of the other lines or Gfred as a whole. Anyone can call the line, or any other line, whatever they want. I'm not stopping you from calling it the Elevator line if you want. I just put the question out there in this video to see what would be a popular name for it within this community of Gfred watchers. However one thing I haven't done yet is actually mention Saucercats at the originator of the line (at least from what I can remember, and mainly because I couldn't remember who did create it) and that's something I'll absolutely correct in the next Gfred (which will be the non-birthday snowfreds). Every time a new line is discovered I always mention who did it and give them the credit they deserve. Oleg in the early days of new line discovery, Tom(?) after the discovery of the parachute line, Sarah after the discovery of the Hail Mary. I haven't done that yet for Saucercats so absolutely will. But none of that really gives any rights to make other people call a line whatever the creator wants it to be called. It's all about what naturally becomes the way the wider community reference it. That's what I'm trying to figure out now as it becomes more of a mainstay in runs.

A lore-friendly name would be the *Calafia line*. The road you take before going up the southern slope of Chiliad is called Calafia Road, and the steel bridge you cross is the Calafia Bridge.

Super specific comment here. The sound design of going over that metal bridge on the way to the new route of Chiliad, is absolutely on point. There's a metal bridge just like that on a road in the mountains close to me and it sounds exactly like that. I know GTA v is getting up there in age, but still top-notch on some of the sound design.

GFRED SUMMARY SERIES Gfred #267: Gambits in the Rain . . . . SPOILER ALERT After a Stunt Race in Nero, it’s time for Gfred, but not before he jumped out to start a new Session. When Yuraki asked his first GTA Platform, it’s X360 for Online and PS2 for the entire Series. He then began inviting people however he can. He doesn’t even go outside and told people not to set up Carguessr. It’s been too crazy so he just sit and chill in his office. As Ben Millard said, “Quiet Time” Espanyol said “All the work we do for you. And this is how you repay us” Then he watch Princess Robot Bubblegum. Pancrojones said “This is a rerun” though he never properly watches TV in GTA Online, though he did in IV. Raymo said “And nobody watches them” despite it being pretty impressive. But he needs Parachute so he had to go outside anyway. He decided to hitch Fanatic Crow’s Sparrow, before he stumbled when exiting the chopper. RBS said “I love how you come out and just have a helicopter waiting” as Broughy told everyone to stop killing. Remember, if you die, you might lose the Parachute, so he gave people 2 minutes to get theirs. And yes, this is the Final Normal Gfred of 2022 while his Assistant now panicking over the chaos outside. Bash asked “When will there be a snow, Fred?” and he answered one of the coming Sundays, and One Early at PH. GTA on Wednesday is Tiring indeed, especially in Xbox. Espanyol said “We Xbox players love you too” even though he didn’t say anything about them specifically. When Apenerd asked “Is swimming faster under or on the water if you don’t have wet suit?” the answer is “It didn’t matter” Luke said “I’ve never done it but I know how it works. I’m winning easy” that’s what the Rookies say. Also, Nos is present to watch today. And turns out there’s gonna be a rain in 7 minutes, that will spice things up. Verdilith donated “Welcome to the last normal Gfred of the year!!” as the Rain already pouring in at the Start. Still, this is an unusual time in Wednesday because he had to skip Sunday Stream for being sick. And he decided to dismount the bike early instead of drowning it. Chiliad will be interesting depending on how long the rain is (which is about 15 minutes) Of course he did a nightmare multiple Resurfacing. He’s still in the Swim Line but he gone lost too much time from that mess. And yes, no Wet Race Car Rules applied here. Verdilith is also leading, what a surprise. There’s always plenty of time saved on the Swim, these Speedrunners have been training plenty enough to do this part well. Even his training still lost him 10 seconds at the Freeway. His performance are just bad these days shown by his struggle to go through the gutter. The Run is definitely his weakest point, it’s been years since he reaches the Highway First. After plenty of look around, he encounter one of the only cars around… Dilettante. Itz Liam stole it from him however. And yes, the Car Wrestling is also his weakest part as he take on a Dubsta, while he can get some very impressive times after that. He NEED to Improve. He feels like he should take any of the cars oncoming at the Highway though. He’s now considering peeling off to Senora Road. And he FINALLY remembers about the Dad Joke much to everyone’s exasperation, with a Train going North awaits, forcing him to detour a bit. And poor Adraki, having to run out of the Quarry, something bad must have happened. What he got is a rotten Orange one though. Still, even the Run Skippers got a Dad Joke today. And now the Rain finally starting, right on time. Now he chose to peel off, especially in a long rain for the rest of the race, especially if he found a 9F or Sultan. It would make big dividends. Though people had the same idea. He’s unsure with Rocoto. Then Moritzundso found a 9F. He stops at Skipst stealing a Surano. Would have steal them had he’s quicker. And yep, there’s nothing else, Moritz is so lucky. He’s checking the Casino too. He would be livid if Killer Stream’s Zion caught it first. And after a cheeky shortcut through the Lobby… he indeed found one at the corner, as well as the immediate launch down to the Highway right in 16th. But the Leader, Elite Coconut is already at the Interchange, so the win’s already gone, but perhaps he can aim for a Top Five. And yes, it is indeed Verdilith’s 9F that he saw on the Arena. Though his Lead’s sacrifice is a bold strategy, might do wonders at Chiliad. After some dodgy spinning Airport Jump, he did a working 360. While Fanatic Crow’s Dubsta who stole his Dilettante hit the wall on the Dismount. Straight into Top Ten. Infernus and 9F in the rain is so rare for how banned they are. Everything has to line up for this. It’s a definite Hotlap today. Then there’s a random Tipper who clipped to the wall before teleporting almost right above Jacques’ Buffalo. But… Skipst got an Infernus… yep. At least 9F is a bit quicker on the flat, but Infernus will demolish everything on the dirt. But right after he’s overtaking, a turning Rebel reveal a wild Journey which takes Broughy out hard. Now he changed his mind, he’s going for Elevator. It should hold well on Chiliad, possibly even more so in the rain. He’s curious and want to mix things up. He slide a bit too much to execute it well though. And now we’re getting thunder too. It’s a tales split between those with the sufficient car and those who doesn’t. Now he’s reaching 5th while Skipst is nowhere to be seen. It’s pretty decent though he overshoots the Summit part a bit. He takes advantage of Evinco’s Surano’s struggle at the Checkpoint due to the Drivetrain. And he indeed beaten both Moritz and Skipst at the Hill. Though Copyright bumped him quite hard. Compared to the hard to guarantee Hotlap, Elevator might be the New Default unless you get a very good car in the dry. He’s 1 minute behind Mayo Epic at 4th and 1:43 behind Elite Coconut. So, the chance of improvement beyond death in front is next to none. Espanyol’s Surano defy the Raton Canyon Chicken by titling himself at the railing. But maybe he should be the one waiting… Tin Man said “Broughy you have to give the new line a proper name” he thinks people coined it like Elevator, and all different variations of these, and he didn’t like it too much. He now ask people’s suggestions in the Comment Section. He notices Ben Millard’s “Goldilocks line” Just right, not too difficult, not too slow. Now Verdilith died and thus 4th is closing in while Coconut takes the ‘win’ at around 17:40. He’s just 20 seconds behind Podium before Mayo died. And it might not even from Parachute too. But he lambasted Mayo for not following the Gfred Spirit and ragequitting. He takes on Josiah because it’s pretty safe… until he hit the tree. But it seems like he mistook Coconut taking the lead as Coconut winning, when Verdilith died. His ramp is a bit sketchy though. Though he seems to be getting overtaken as he’s 6th now. Maybe he should be gone for Hail Mary. People seems to be pleased that he’s getting 4/20. It was a disappointment and he should play it ‘safe’. Verdilith landed early but Broughy still lost by 1,1 second. Still, Broughy takes the Top 5 after such a bad start from earlier. Though he didn’t know that 9F has an Empty 9F shown by poor Druzhok having not a good day at the Descent in the Bike Valley. Darogen said “That crash at Zancudo entrance lost it” which is true. Going from 16th to 4th in 9F makes for a good result to close off the Normal Gfred of the year as he congrats Coconut. He asked Verdilith what happened. RBS said “Nah 2nd. Elite was in the lead the whole time” Elite is really dominant today. GT Driver said “This Wetfred is good preparation for Snowfred” RBS said “I was 2nd and Verd flew over me down the observatory, then blew up on the last jump down to the bridge before Zancudo” You never know how it goes in Gfred and it’s even more so in the Snowfreds. Elite Coconut said “I was 2nd and verd flew over me down the observatory, then blew up on the last jump down to the bridge before Zancudo” Meanwhile, RBS got 2nd, Evinco and Skipst got 5th and 6th. Copyright and Moritz is in 7th and 8th. And Fanatic is 10th.

@broughy1322 if you want to be in the front group at the highway, you need to take the left line before the rocks at the first checkpoint. You see it on the map where lots of other people are going. The main advantage is there is no risk of surfacing. Also, in the beginning the closer you swim to the surface the faster you go Then, at the highway run past a few cars for those running behind you to fight over, so you can just take a car and leave. If you get into a bad car, it is worth stopping for a decent one before the quarry. In terms of entertainment of course your current "bad" tactics are much better 🙂

I've been on a huge mountaineering kick on youtube, watching tons of videos about climbers scaling everest, k2, annapurna, etc... Anyway, there are two main styles of mountaineering. Slow style which is more expedition style wit huge teams, lots of supplies and oxygen tanks. The second type is called alpine style. Which is a newer type of style that is generally a lot more difficult, it involves bringing as little equipment as possible and attempting to push your body to the limits by summiting a mountain like everest (which normally takes 60 days) as quickly as possible (like 2-3 days instead). Anyway, you should call the new line the alpine line. Since it's sharper and shorter and tries to be faster. :)

there has been times he's failed the hail mary, either from slightly wrong line or car damage, so it's not as guarantee as you suggest--plus regular parachute is the absolute safest option since he wanted to secure that position
