Love this video Dave!!! You do such a good job on these videos. I am so happy engineers are sharing on KZbin.

Great mix! Thanks for sharing this. I love seeing the methods people use. I’m glad I’m not alone in using presets as a starting point. This is so helpful

Both the Empress and the silk of the MBT sound just amazing. I was wondering what kind of gates you where using but now I know, thanks. I definitely like the Sonnox Drum Gate, there are sometimes sales with 50% off so then it's 80 instead of 160. I also dig the CLA Epic, really a versatile plugin. Great video Dave, thanks 👍🏼

The Sonnox is not $160 but $230. Too. much in my opinion. The Slate Gate works fine for me

@@MixingMusicAnalog damm you’re right their prices are in pounds, that’s 210 dollars 😮 Ah well 105 when in sale 😅

hey I noticed in your new setup with the mic and controllers in front of you: can you still reach the bus comp on the console ok? - and this leads to the actual question behind it: do you even adjust it a lot or kind of have a go to setting that just works for you?
@MixingMusicAnalog9 ай бұрын
The console compressor is pretty much set it and drive the signal into it. I dont reach for it much

The bummer thing about the Rupert Neve MBT is its main thing is the super silk and widener. Other than that nothing else is really needed. For now I am using Nfuse plug-in for those until they come out with a dedicated box with super silk. I watched many videos including audio animals and the plug-in super silk and widener are great. Nufuse also just updated the plug-in with harmonics on the super silk section. I cannot reason 4k expense. When the dedicated box comes out I will buy that.

I just got the SSL Bus +. For me it is a must have. Way better than the hardware SSL G Comp. There is so many things you can do with that box. It is sick
@MixingMusicAnalog9 ай бұрын
I would love to try the Bus + to see how much better / flexible it is. Unfortunately, SSL wont send me one. :(
@braxal69839 ай бұрын
@@MixingMusicAnalog They need to send it to you. Once you get it you will most likely keep it!
@johndoe-cb5ck9 ай бұрын
@@MixingMusicAnalogyeah if you can get one somehow that would be awesome! I can't make up my mind if I like the api 2500 (plugin alliance version) or a ssl bus ( analog obsession version) they both sound great!

Very Enjoyable and lots of inspiration, I have never seen Trigger 2 which is the biggest interest to me, I have a tendency to stay away from Slate stuff, but I might give that a blast! Im currently waiting for the Metric AB to get a tad more attractive (poor Scottish student) too. Uncle David, thank you for your efforts on all your content.
@MixingMusicAnalog9 ай бұрын
I love all the Slate stuff and Trigger 2 is pretty much the industry standard and has never failed me

Hey Dave. For drum replacement - what's your approach to pitch? Are you tuning the samples to the song and then tuning the 'live' tracks to match or are you going by what was recorded as the primary and pitching the sample to match?
@MixingMusicAnalog9 ай бұрын
I dont tune the samples to the song.

I coming from cakewalk by Bandlab and I love it but it will soon be a paid daw and I'm thinking about upgrading to studio one...HELP!....and I'm going to steal some of your tips,hehe...very helpful video
