Hybrid Track Installation #51: Replacing tracks on the Kubota KX080-4 with Steel Hybrid Tracks

In this video I replace the rubber tracks on the Kubota KX080-4 excavator with New Steel, Rubber Hybrid Tracks. I show the removal of the old tracks and the installation of the new tracks. I show you how to remove the tension on the old track in order to remove them. I also show you the proper way to add tension to the new tracks. I discuss the chart on the excavator that shows the proper measurement when adjusting track tension. I use my Milwaukee M18 grease gun to easily adjust the track tension. Handling of the tracks is accomplished with the Kubota SVL75-2 track loader.

Hey, Our 80 got the same tear like yours! Ours happened at the marked spot on the track where its joined together in manufacturing so we think it was a defect considering we baby the tracks to keep them in good shape... Anyways, how have the hybrid tracks treated you the last 3 years? Is there any clearance issues between the angle blade and the track, our dealer swears it will hit the track and we should stay rubber

Did you have to change any parts out when going to steel tracks? I was told I would have to I think on a new kx 057

It was a direct swap. I did not have to make any modifications.

Do they help with floatation?The spacing seems like they may have a little trouble in mud vs regular steel tracks.

I haven't notice any significant difference. I only have experience with the rubber tracks. They are easier to lift the tracks out of mud compared to the solid rubber tracks. Probably because it allows air to enter.

I'm curious if the new tracks are wider, the kx080 I run cuts into things a bigger wider tracked machine will float over. They are too narrow, the stock rubber tracks. and too blocky. leaves a mess everywhere it goes.

Nice work. I assume the tracks are right off the boat from China? Looks like the rollers, idlers and sprockets work for steel or rubber?

The new tracks are great. I've worked a few jobs that have junk and chunks of concrete and the track are unaffected. So far so good. Thanks for watching!

After taxes and a $750 tariff, it ended up costing around $7,000. I love them!

Aw man u left out one part I'm looking for. Is there a tool to drive pin in? Or can I just whack pin in with a 5lb hammer

Oops, sorry about that... I put the pin in the freezer and drove it in with a sledge hammer.

What way do tracks install? Narrow bolts towards front of machine? Towards the blade

@@kwmiked I don't think it matters which way they are installed. I recommend contacting the manufacturer for clarification. The tracks did not come with instructions, which is one of my concerns.
