One of the biggest clues in Prometheus was the mural depicting the Xenomorph life cycle. We provide a potential theory as to what it really means, and what the Engineers thought of Xenomorphs.

A reason why the Engineers might revere the xenos so highly is because they were their perfect creations. Remember what Ash said in the first movie? "The perfect organism." To a species that treats the creation of life as a religious act, developing such a perfect creature would likely be considered one of their crowning achievements.

You still don't know what you're dealing with, the perfect organism. Its structural perfection is matched by its hostility.I admire it's purity. A survivor...unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality-Ash I can't lie to you about your chances, but...you have my deepest sympathies.

I don't think they created the xenomorphs, but rather found an effective way to weaponize them. The Space Jockey from Alien just got unlucky when one of the facehuggers broke out and attacked him while he was transporting a cache of the eggs to attack an enemy colony. The "warning" he sent out was after he discovered that he was infected, and it was effectively saying something like "containment breached, enacting quarantine." Or something like that. That's my guess, anyway.

I love how Prometheus has become a topic to discuss about it. That was actually why I loved it so much. The unanswered questions are probably the best in this cases. Sometimes you need to know so much to actually think about it, and that's awesome. Sometimes, also, knowing everything becomes kind of boring so, yeah. I'm all in 😊

We may see that in Alien Covenant. Mr Scott himself called the Protomorph (the xeno on the poster and seen in the shower of the trailer) the "purest form of xenomorph", it will be more "animalistic" than the Xenos we've seen on film. How that will work I am not sure, but if you look closer at the shower scene you'll see the xenomorphs Hand is fucking huge, like eerily creepy.

That's the Neomorph, assuming what we already know about them, they are some offshoot of the main Xenomorph "species", naturally evolving on the planet the Covenant crew stumbles upon in an ecosystem where the Black Goo has infected and basically melded into the environment. The Neomorph is stated to be white, have more fleshy skin, quadruped at birth, bursts out of the back or throat, and is more animalistic. Perhaps this is the original reincarnation of the Xenomorph, however considering that Eggs were also found on that planet may suggest the Neos and Xenos are both sibling species at best. But who knows, maybe the Beluga-Xenomorph concept will return.

there seems to be two types of prometheans, the "seeders" (@2:32) with the egg shaped ship and the "engineers" (@2:43) with the bioengineered hammerhead shark ship. the "engineers" aren't wearing suits (look at his neck!), they have engineered themselves! with what looks like the same phenotypical expression as the xenomorphology. this is probably what the two factions are fighting over and I suspect that the xenomorph is a result of genetic meddling gone too far and becoming uncontrollable. they were likely trying to integrate some kind of insect genes for strength, durability or hive-mind abilities and those genes took over the genome in unforeseen ways. perhaps the engineers stole the mutagen in a military coup'de'dat from the seeder class, and used its properties in ways that were forbidden. both types seem to have religious tendencies, perhaps the 'chozo'(bird figures, metroid joke) were an earlier race who entrusted the seeders with this tech when they were in decline, to continue the sacred work of world seeding.

Very very interesting theory, I like the idea that there was a race even more advanced than the Space Jockeys which entrusted them with some of most advanced technology known, only for their students to rebel against each other. I also like the idea that the Xenomorphs are simply some "naturally" occurring organisms that have been tampered with the Black Goo by the Engineers to create the ultimate organism (see the Beluga-Xenomorph concept that very well inspired the Neomorph)

I'm not saying any of you are wrong here, but the difference in appearance could also be explained by time. It's likely there is a huge gap in time from the 'Life giving' scene and the construction of the 'military installation' on LV223. It could be thousands, hundreds of thousands or even millions of years between. Think how much our Civilization has changed in only a thousand years or so, our beliefs, clothing, speech and behaviour. Not much of a stretch to think that the Engineers changed their minds and appearance and during that time.

T.J. McCallum Brilliant observation. I knew there was a separation in factions based on some footage that was removed. It only made sense later, and I surmised the biomechanics (hibernation suit/hammerhead ship)was adopted from the Alien. What a slick way to reuse some of Giger's concepts. Thanks for your input.

I just read what you stated about it not being a suit. It's genetics again. Same with the goo. Interesting. I'd have to agree with you. Either way they are two factions, and they both are part of a cult following the Alien. This means the author of this video is spot on. The Alien is a monster. It's a bug. So there is a higher being out there who created the Engineers. Sorry. I could be an atheist and still have to agree this is where the story is going. So to the other people who criticize the posts I made...If that's why it ruins it for you then you are going to be really disappointed when the Aliens 👽 you believe in turn out to be something you could never have imagined. I repeat, you still have faith if you believe in aliens. You just hate the idea of Jesus. You hate the idea of a father. You hate because you don't know love. Don't blame me.

The enginers where searching for eternal life, so they made the first black fluid and created mankind as you can see in the begining of Prometheus, The Engineer sacrifices himself by drinking the black fluid, so that his DNA whill mix whit other organisms in our world, after that ;evolution takes place and humankind comes forth,. they created mankind to experiment on them , humans have the same DNA as they do, so what the result whould be with te human experiment whould have the same efect to the Engineers. They tried to perfect the black fluid on there teste planet and new organisms emerged, they studied them and tried to perfect the black fluid so that they could test it out on humans, but before they could, they where killed by the creatures that emerged from the black fluid. The last engineer wanted to go to earth to teste it on humans anyway, but was stopped by the people on the Prometheus. The engineers diden't worship the Xenomorphs, they where a result of there research and experiments and they find them fascinating becouse the Xenomorphs could withstand almost anithing and could change, adabt and live on... This is my 2 cents on the mather...

Well I believe we need to remember the offical timeline. Engineers first create the life on earth (not only humans, you cant see anything but rocks there) by sacrifice so they believe one need to die in order the life to florish. Then we have a spaceship crashed on the distant planet with full of xenomorphs eggs and after tens of thousands years we have a laboratory on different planet where they created the black goo and which prometheus crew found. When we sum this up Xenomorph was a life form found by them somewhere in space. They were amazed by it and tried to combine black goo with xenomorph DNA. It turns out to be so dangerous only one engineer survived. What we see in prometheus are creatures which are offsprings by genetic mutation caused by xenomorph infested black goo, which had different effect in different situations. We should also remember that facehugger probably infest the host with black goo as the alien grows as a tumor which has some host DNA. What we will see in Convenant, are probably both spieces and subspieces.

Like the Borg in star trek. Assimulate new species to perfect their own dna. Same with the visitors in V in the 2009 series. All the same story, flowing from different minds. The real question is, what is Hollywood, and the people in the know, trying to tell us? You even see it in the mutations of Nemesis and the creatures in Resident evil. In this case the black goo is the T virus.

Makes sense....I mean, your conclusions based on the movie. The movie itself doesn't make any goddamn sense XD Connecting the origins of mankind and the Xenomorphs is just such a ridiculous move from these reboots. They try so hard to look ''deep'' with their creationism discussion, and fail so miserably. Know what made the Xenomorphs from the original movie so scary/fascinating? The fact that they were ALIENS; tough creatures who evolved in a world completely different from ours, having a nature completely different from ours, what made them be such an enormous threat to humans when they finally met by simple coincidence.

I'm 44. I have been following Alien since I was a kid. It's probably the most influential movie I have ever seen. I was introduced to HR Giger and would study his art for years after just to understand the Alien, and did not know why I did. As time has passed, I soon began to realize that there was a serious connection with the concept art and the production behind the movie. This opened my mind to the same thing with several other science fiction movies and there creators. Obviously, Jodorowsky's Dune holds more of the genetic code for all sci fi movies and stories, with the exception of Alien. Alien is pure. I'm certain that the story was developed long ago. I think most of the other pictures (Aliens/Preadator..etc) after the original Alien were made to capitalize on the fascination of the so called "xenomorph". Mind you that I haven't been following blogs or discussion groups on this subject. Blogs didn't exist until recently, and I had these ideas when I was still in my 20's. I'm still not sure how I subscribed to this you tube thing on xenomorphs. I don't even like that label. Its hardly correct, and was a mistake to call the alien creature a xenomorph in Aliens. It's ironic that they later were labeled as xenomorph and now there is a black goo that MORPHS everything and anything into the Alien life form in Prometheus . Could it be that this came about as a way to turn a twist done on the original concept into a reality in the upcoming movie. If I had to guess, I would say that Ridley Scott has been disgusted all these years at what has been done to his original masterpiece. This was his way to turn trash into gold. Maybe I'm just overthinking things, and I'm just another obsessed fan that is part of this cult following? I might never know. I think this post is spot on!! I never stopped to think that they were worshiping the Aliens! Now it all makes sense. I mentioned concept art. Just look at Giger's art book Alien. It's full of concepts that depict worship and religious symbolism. The concept mentioned in this you tube commentary, points out the same concept with the Decon mural. The mural in the Giger book is similar to it. Maybe, all of this was thought out earlier, maybe not. Lucas proposed how many Star Wars movies he would make publicly. Spielberg did the same with the Adventures of Indiana Jones movies. I heard about this when I was very young. It became a reality for the most part. I feel Spielberg and Lucas were racing to the top without holding back to the public, and capitalizing off of toys and merchandise all along the way. In the meantime, Ridley Scott was staying quiet waiting for the right move. He had no problem making other movies, and still proved to be a more creative and artistic director/producer. It's just a thought. It's fun to wonder about. Alien will always be my most favorite movie. Next would be Jaws, and then any movie by Stanley Kubrick. I might also dare to say that these directors all secretly want to inform the public of conspiracy( I know .. I just dropped the c bomb!). I'm not really saying I buy into conspiracy theories, because there is not much that can be done if they were to be proved true. I just think it's interesting how the generations have become more and more open to the idea that we are not alone, and the belief in alien life forms. Now, it's popular. People are even starting to think Aliens created humans. It's interesting that Prometheus was made with this theory as it's foundation and had very little to do with Alien. Could it be that this was Ridley Scott's way of patiently waiting to reveal this theory. It's highly religious too. Calling it Prometheus as if to say is that we have been blind to the truth. Maybe he is even saying that the idea of the alien life forms creating us is a misconception. It's possible that he is alluding to the Fallen Angels,/Nephilim. These are the gods. These are the architects in the Bible, and the Engineers found in the Prometheus movie. It's not spot on, but it's a hint. It's a poke at what might be a deeper message for this dark and wicked world we live in. Sorry for going on a rant, but like my idea about R. Scott, I too have been patiently waiting to reveal my little secrets that I have been pondering over. Hey! Who was ever going to listen to all this junk I was dreaming up? It's all in fun. I have to get back to reality now. See you at the movies!

So I re read what I wrote. It's quite a dissertation. I apologize to those with a weak heart, and hope that the author of this you tube post will find it entertaining. I might not be totally clear on my points, and I tend to wander from point to point. Sorry. If I could I wouldn't mind fixing this. So if there are any questions I'd gladly try to make sense of the randomness that I spat out on my last post. I believe my main point that I was trying to make is that Ridley Scott is trying to accomplish several things by releasing Prometheus, and now the upcoming Covenant. I won't go into this too deep after my last post, maybe these thoughts are enough to spark what some of theses reasons might be. I will say that the names Prometheus and Covenant allude to a very religious concept. I also go deeper into saying that if this movie was trying to reveal secret knowledge then it would not be that there is truth in the existence of life other than humans, because I don't think that is necessary. I believe that it is revealing the existence of God and Creation. It is saying if you can believe in aliens, then why not angles/ demons. In other words, if there is a God there is a devil. In the case of this argument, if you can be convinced so easily of aliens as the creator then why not believe them to be the fallen angels. Why not? You see, people are scared to believe in God as a creator and that there is a devil or Satan. It's easier for some reason to think science has all the so called facts. However science cannot disprove anything either. It can't disprove God, demons, aliens, Dracula, zombies, and Frankenstein(that's humor by the way, Im not that crazy!). I've got news for y'all. If you believe aliens came here and put us on this planet, then you have Faith too! It's just faith in something other than a Christian God. You are also mocked by the people who believe rocks collided in space to eventually lead to pond scum that evolved into all of existing life forms on earth. So we are all crazy right? Ha. I think not. I think some of us just aren't ready for the truth because we are happy "thinking we have a grip on everything"(MIB). Well, that's all I'm saying. Thanks to directors of sci fi movies, they are educating the subconscious minds of everyone. Opening the minds with the most powerful drug there is, FILMS. They are preparing us for the truth before it's all over. They are at war too! Directors have their own beliefs and theories. Ok. I did it again. I blew things up. So what. I have nothing to loose. I suppose that I personally welcome ridicule. Maybe, I just want to stir the pot. I'm also curious to see if anyone else thinks these crazy things that I proposed. Who cares? It's just fun to wonder. Hope a least someone can get a laugh out of this.

lunatiksAlterEgo I bought a PS3 solely for that game. I'm not the gamer I used to be anymore. I was around for Doom on the p.c. And had a micro network set up in the apartment via USB cables. Ha, ha. Me and my college roommate would play for hours listening to rage against the machine, bullet in the head. That's how old I am! Anyway, I agree with you about the look and feel of the game. I think Mr. Scott is not the type to budge even for a tribute to his original concept. He's self centered and proud. If you watch anything as an extra on the DVD sets for Alien, then you will see that he was hard to work with. Harrison Ford still swears that Blade Runner was the worst experience he had as an actor. I believe this to be the case for any of Ridley Scott pictures, a huge challenge. So no, he would hate the game. I also think he is the artistic B personality that would be opposed to video game franchises and any money being made from it. To him it would mean selling out, which is a big no no to do when it comes to representing yourself as a true artist. He's a stuck up artist, and proud of it! That's why I admire him. He's not afraid of what anyone thinks or says, and would rather never do another Alien picture if it meant selling out. I do think the game has impressed other directors and producers though. The next Aliens (or Alienzez, as I jokingly call them) movies are somehow tied into this game. I could be wrong.

In an earlier draft of the screenplay for Alien, the Space-Jockey race, now The Engineers, worshiped the Xenomorphs. The Nostromo's crew was supposed to discover murals much like the one in Prometheus. I wouldn't be surprised if they carried the themes over.

If you are right I would say that the engineers worship then for the same reason the android in the first movie was in awe of them. Not as a wepon but because they are indeed the "perfect organism" with there biological structure and purity of thought and direction. But I still think the engineers created them. The engineers seem to have control over the black goo in the different things they get it to do so they abviously made it and it is clear that the aliens mutations come directly from this bio-wepon. Although the black goo is also seen to be used for other purposes other then creating the xenomorph so I doubt it is simply a lifecycle accelerant. The mural on the wall is probably more of a monument to there own achivements as the big engineer head is more plausible as a god they worship.

I'm so happy people are finally putting that one together, I've been preaching it for years. But no, I do believe the engineers made them. With all the evidence to support it it's kinda confirmed. They did say the point of Prometheus was "who would want to make monsters" the question alien Covenant will ask "why". They created the Xeno's in their attempt to create the perfect organism. It was all for religious purposes as well, as seen in the alter room. If your trying to create life, what is the ultimate end if not the "perfect organism."

+Chameleon1616 exactly you know what's something I noticed. The Engineer architecture looks almost camouflaged and built into the environment or at the very least designed to match it. That may be why we don't see much of it in the trailer of Covenant. We also know they will be visiting an engineer temple so clearly their architecture will be explored more.

I think the engineers discovered the xenomorph. They worship it as a perfect organism. So, they have studied it and developed the black goo in an attempt to duplicate the xeno. Or create their own, which as we see hasn't been 100% successful yet.

Your onto something, but I do think they created them. The engineers were creating all different kinds of life from themselves(as seen in the beginning of the film, but then they were also using the black goo. They were trying to create the perfect organism(which is the alien) as a form of worship to their deity most likely.

This is my theory ever since I saw Prometheus. It's a bit long-winded but bear with me: The engineers did not intentionally or directly create the xenomorph organism as we know it. However, I do believe they indirectly created it. Follow me on this: In Prometheus we see the black goo both seeding planets with life and then utterly destroying and reshaping life as we know it. Consider the black goo for a moment to be as a tool. Like any other tool, say an axe or a hatchet, you can use it to both hunt animals for food or chop wood to make a fire to keep warm, or bury it into the skull of Bob because Bob's a dick and you want Bob to die. The black goo by this analogy, is basically just a hyper-advanced tool beyond our comprehension with our current (in the view of the movie) level of technology. It's an extremely adaptable bio-weapon in the case of the black goo as seen on LV-223. It encounters an organism, perhaps by attaching itself to the DNA of it, then adapts to be able to kill that organism based on what it finds. This is reflected by how quickly we see the black goo evolve into different organisms in the film. Now this flies in the face of some Aliens story arcs but I don't subscribe to the idea of a xenomorph homeworld if we agree that they're bio-engineered by the Space Jockeys. Keeping in mind two basic principles: 1 - that they're a bio-weapon and 2 - as envisioned in the original '79 film, they have a short life span of living at most a day or two? These creatures could be dropped into a population center, adapt to overpower whatever life forms they encounter, wipe them out and then be programmed to die off once they've run out of hosts by which to reproduce. In effect, you would leave the planet largely undamaged as it might be in the face of a conventional war while removing your enemy. So I would imagine the black goo was originally used as a bio-engineered tool that was intended for seeding planets with new life. Conversely, the same technology used to create life could also be used to eradicate it when weaponized in this manner.

Great theory! It makes sense that you mention the factions between the engineers. I never saw it in that light. I would probably agree that they may have encountered the xenomorphs and used them as bioweapons. Interestingly, there was an edition of a Predator comic in which it ended with the predator was seeking out the engineers. Perhaps there may also be a conflict between the Yautja and the Engineers as well.

Current theory on the matter. So we know they created the Xenomorphs, I'm sorry , but the evidence is finale on that one. We also know they created them for religious purposes. The big head room and alter was all paying image to their gods. Now, let's take into account Ash's quote from Alien, "perfect organism". The engineers were creating life, and what is the ultimate end if not making the perfect organism. So then there's the black goo, the paint in which the engineers use to make their art. The black goo is a DNA Manipulation Agent(this part is confirmed), which breaks down, reconstructs, alters, or augments the DNA within living vessels. The black goo itself is another big point because it's clear it had a major part in the origin of the Xeno's. the question I also want to know is that is the origin of the black goo.

In the "Fire and Stone" comic story ark, it's shown one Engineer to easily destroy xenomorphs with their its bare hands, as well as the local evolved life on LV-223 that was accelerated by the black goo. 1. we havent seen the "actual' engineers yet. The actual engineers were most likely flying in the pebble, the humongous large round structure hovering over the waterfall at the start of Prometheus. As Ridley said, these are gardeneners, and they seed world - for some reason they took hominids from Earth and upgraded/modified human stock some several ten thousand years ago. Their most ambitious projects were the pale white giants we saw at the start of Prometheus. These were elevated/perfected to absolute peak human perfection. 2. These pale white giants rebelled against these 'engineers' analogue to rthe Erich von Daniken bullwonkey stories from the 70s, much like fallen angels and Nephilim. These PWGH's turned the bionanotech of the engineers against them. 3. The Jockey was one of the creations of the PWG's. The PWG's may be developing slave races and turning them into bio robots. 4. The PWG's after their rebellion turned their own bodies in horribly strong transhumanist BioMechanical Android Giants, you see at the end of Prometheus. These are NOT organics, like the PWG's - they may in fact be androids much like David, or some kind of replicant synthetic transhuman being. These BAG's (Biomechanical Android Giants) are evil, and they have reason to hate humanity. Explantions for that maybe forthcoming, but I am terrified thart Ridley Scott found some kind of "I am a scared old guy" deist faith and wants to shoehorn the idea of "god" into the Alien canon. As in - that shyte series "raised by wolves", which was just so *yuck*. 5. There is some kind of galactic local very slow drawn out ecological conflict going on where the BAG's (let's call them Prometheans, as they seem to have stolen black sperm fire from The Gods). They are creating black ooze that takes terrestrial analogue biomes and turns all animal life, or anything close by (such as a medbay) in memetically analogue shapes. You can put a hand with fingers (etc) in the ooze and the ooze will cut and paste a hand shaped form, presto you get a facehugger. 6. David figured most of this out and is experimenting with all this. David now "has his wolves" and has been contacting Weylamnd Yutani with some kind of threat (See : advent). David warned WY off him action, yet they are "proceeding with action", and as a result "everything will change". It may be that David is now using the black sperm demon ooze to seed worlds with these4 "bue ant" killer parasites. David is clearly creating specimen that maximize terror. That's terrorism. The original versions were bad enough, but the upgrades David is creating are infernal machines of extreme cruelty. That's intentional. Maybe he just hated Weyland - maybe Peter raped david a lot, and in return David wants to vent his extreme trauma and in return rape all of humanity. David doesnt have a high opinion of the future prospects of the human race as is. 7. Nobody is worshipping Xeno's. Xeno's are a weapon of mass ecological reformatting. You seed the planet and literally ALL animal life is eradicated, most likely until the Black Ooze burns out. Could be hundreds of years. Xeno's are just a very intentional kind of biological warfare that's purposefully intended to terrify intelligent human life. It's a weapon of pure hatred. The BAG's hate humanity for their own reasons, and David also hates humanity, possibly for completely different, similar or equal reasons. We don't know yet. King ridley scott had his reign. More younger and talented directors should take over the frachise and he should retire before he ruins it. "Raised By Wolves" is a clear sign Ridley is becoming too old for this kind of work.

My theory is that the Engineers did create the Xenomorphs. They started seeding worlds in the hope of producing what they believe to be the perfect life form, which they eventually achieved with the Xenomorphs. On creation of the perfect life form a sect of the Engineers society starts to worship this supreme species as a deity and their greatest creation. They then decide that the rest of the universe should be transformed/replaced by this new supreme being and start to send ships off to planets around the universe to begin this transformation. It kind of fits in with the Prometheus myth in that this sect of Engineers stole the fire (black goo) from the gods (the ruling class of Engineers) to give to Mankind (the Xenomorphs). I suppose I am not keen on the Engineers finding this race as it is too perfect an organism to have simply evolved naturally and would then re-raise the old question of who actually created them. I like to think that this question has already been answered and we are now moving on to the next set of questions like the reason why they created this species.

Giger, is pronounced with a long e for his last name (GHEE-ger), most westerners do it with a long i (I use to do it before I watched the documentary on him and heard how they said it), but it's a Swiss-German surname. Had an Art major friend that did his final paper on his art work just after the Alien movie came out and he showed me the work that the movie was based on and several other artwork that he had done. I fell in love with his work back then. Love his artwork and it was a great that you mention him in your theory on where the Alien artwork designs come from. Good theory too. Though I think they will do a 3rd movie after Covenant. I also think they "stumbled" upon what ends up making what we have as the classic Alien though a mix of our DNA, the black goo, and maybe a third strand. The engineers may have had something similar before "making" humans and then testing on them and had "servants". When they used it on humans they got a creature they couldn't control and used them as weapons. This may be a possibility of how the xenomorphs became a bio-weapon for them, and less of a servant. On the mural, the facehuggers shows that they were doing something (experimented?) and I think this is were they show the develop of servants or weapons. But the upper mural looks like the creature is subjugated to the "engineer", though it is had to tell if it's an "Alien" or another creature that has some resemblance to the xenomorphs. Just my theory on this topic, which may be way off or close, we will just have to wait and see in the next movie has in store for us.

Part of me thinks the Geiger material used on the mural was more of an easter egg than anything else. It's actually the original work he made during development of Alien where he created a mural that was never used. The two depictions of the figures and "face-hugger" are direct copies of the original work. From what we know of Covenant and the Alien lore, the face hugger doesn't exist yet. Certainly not at the time the Engineers would have created that mural.

I always thought it was more of a combination of both, and that the fact of the two factions of the engineer race might have used the black goo for different purposes. In that one was seeking perfection of form, while the other was seeking perfection of of a bio-weapon, but in the end lead to a civil war over what to do with the result. One side worshiping the Xenomorphs creations like a manifestation of their precieved perfection of form, while the other using them like mere weapons perfected for destroying their enemies, and the war came about over one side seeing the other defiling or misusing the creations.

There is one flaw in this theory. After seeing the movie another time i noticed there is doorways with debris of the doors(first at the entrance of the Engineers complex and others a bit further) and like an other youtuber pointed it out in his video the debris are inside the complex - like if the Engineers were attacked from the outside of the complex by someone or something possibly by xenomorphs used by Engineers in there civil war and it's possible that the complex on LV-223 was made to find a way to fight against the xenomorphs but they were too late and got attacked and several of them have been victim of what appears the be chestbursters so they definitively been victim of an attacke involving xenomorphs but i don't think it was an outbreak because if it was one the door's debris would indicate the door has been destroyed from the inside toward the outside. The reason why the crew thinks it was an outbreak is because they didn't know of the xenos existence at that time and probably concluded that it was the Black Goo that caused an outbreak. Once again it could have been a logical conclusion if the debris of the doors weren't inside the complex. However like you i don't believe the Engineers created the xeno and i also believe that at some point they used the xenos in their civil war. There is something that also bothers me. Why people thinks the Engineers wanted to destroy humans? I know David came to that conclusion but what if Earth was part of a plan to test the Black Goo in order to neutralize the xeno the other faction(s) was(were) using against them. Since we don't know how many factions were fighting against each other and we don't know which one was those who were seeding life on other planets i don't think we can say for sure that only 2 factions were involved. In a civil war there is usually the government side, the anti-government side and sometimes a neutral side as well. Of course we could speculate for years about this and both be right and wrong at the same time because we don't know enough yet about Covenant to really formulate a theory that's why yours is as good as mine.

A hypothesis is either a suggested explanation for an observable phenomenon, or a reasoned prediction of a possible causal correlation among multiple phenomena. I think what we're seeing in the mural (in the ampule room) is actually the deacon & not a true xenomorph. If you look closely at the body on the mural you'll notice the absence of any "bio-mechanical" body parts, i.e. the hoses clearly seen on the classic xenomorph's body (head, neck, etc.) The deacon's body is much more "smoother" & organic looking (lacking any bio-mechanical body parts) compared the classic xenomorph. I think the classic xenomorph is the final stage in the evolution of this "perfect organism".

Perhaps instead of the mural being an ode to the perfect weapon (or perfect creation), what if it is simply there to act as a bio chart? Like the development charts you'd see in doctor's office or at a veterinary clinic. It could be a chart showing the life cycle of the xenomorphs for study purposes. If the black goo was, in fact, developed as a bio weapon or for experimentation, perhaps the Engineers extracted it from the xenos, like a serum developed from their blood or DNA proteins. Since their blood is highly acidic, this would explain the cellular degradation the black goo causes, along with whatever transformative properties it holds. Obviously, none of us have the full picture (and probably neither does Ridley Scott) but it would make sense to have bio charts of the creatures you're developing bio chemicals from.

The problem with all this speculation is that the guy who ought to have all this planned out and set up doesn't really give a shit. Ridley Scott isn't Gene Roddenberry, or any other of those guys who set out to create a universe and have all those details about the background in their heads. The first movie was just supposed to be a slasher movie in space and it wasn't Scott who made it a franchise, but the studio that handed the rights to other creators to make a buck. He made it abundantly clear over the course of his career and the interviews he gave, that he doesn't really give a shit and doesn't really have a universe in his mind, with rules he or anyone else could adhere to. You're basing this particular theory on a detail from a movie that wasn't even supposed to be part of the Alien universe and canon when they started shooting it and it was studio executives who told Scott to tie it in with Alien. There is no real cohesion, no unified vision and nobody actually working on it who seems interested in having such a unified vision and who would take ownership of the Alien universe and give it an actual canon. What is the point of all this speculation when you know that there is no answer to anything outside of fan fiction and what other amateurs and fans dream up? Without a authority that says "Yes, this is right." or "No, this is wrong.", there is no point to any of this. When you say one thing and some other dude says the opposite, you're both equally right and wrong and even if every fan on the planet would agree that something should be this or that way, there still would be no legitimacy to it, as long as the guy who started it all doesn't take ownership of it and refuses to become a authority or an custodian of the universe and the canon. And even if all of that were different and Ridley Scott actually would drop hints to bigger truths behind what we see on screen, it would still be a bit far fetched to conclude that the Engineers are worshiping Xenomorphs just because of that mural. We humans don't worship everything we portray in pictures either, do we? Looking at old human murals and other artwork, one could conclude that humans worshiped horses for example. Looking at their ships and technology in general, the mural might just be something as mundane as a bio hazard warning sign. Meaning, a race that builds ships that look weird like that, might also be weird and go over board with simple warning signs.

To me the scene with the engineers at the beginning of Prometheus has the feel of a ritualized assisted suicide for a condemned man or disgraced leader.

If Engineers created humans, wasn't it like 4,5 billion years ago? Why Engineers didn't evolve through out that time?

Space jockeys were at war with the yautja hence predators have stolen technology off the space jockeys the xeno's were a bio weapon to use on the yautja

upon closer look of the mural the alien like figure in it resembles the deacon alien more. maybe when a facehugger attaches itself to an engineer a deacon like alien is created. much like the deacon itself after the squid hugger attached itself to the surviving engineer...

looking at the mural of the engineer "Prometheus" by the bird being, I think it has to do with the Bird Dogs from the Alien book Out of the Shadows, without going into too much spoilers, the crew went down a mining shaft and found "mummified remains of a bird dog alien creature" and that there were "prehistoric" xenomorphs that semi-looked like them. my guess is that bird dog thing is the one we see in that mural might have been the base for the xenomorphs, combine with engineer DNA to create the ultimate weapon. or like earth were created by the engineers then were wiped out for not being to their "vision"

I think that they were in fact some kind of creation or experiment that got out of control. Or perhaps something that they tried to interact with and ultimately failed.

And this theory dovetails perfectly with AVP where the ancient Aztec murals also showed Xenomorph worship. If not, then the whole Aliens saga is a bunch of inconsistent dribble.

Given the fact that the Engineers never came back to Earth, it seems logical to me that two factions of Engineers fought against one another and possibly wiped Paradise out. The LV-223 Engineers were the last remaining Engineers.

Yeah man i agree with your theory , i really dont like to think that such an awesome and fierce species like the xenomorphs were 'created' like some kind of robot instead of super evolution Also agree about the 2 factions of the engineers and 1 wants to destroy them because they are a disgrace or something

Yes! @Hyrbid Network I agree with your theory! Subbed! The life cycle of the Aliens depends on the host discovering it so it can begin to spread. In the original movies, humans discovered it, and they wanted to study it to create biological weapons. The original trilogy is basically history beginning to repeating itself but through humans before being stopped by Ripley. Engineers had the same idea before and got one step further, creating the 'goo' to remove the 'face hugger' part of the cycle making it more effective, and easier to control as a weapon. The base on LV-223 is where they created the goo but they need eggs to begin cultivating it which is why the ship on LV-426 was carrying eggs; they are the easiest form of the alien to transport safely (to resupply the facility). In the first Alien, the derelict ship crashed en route to LV-223 with the eggs and was later discovered by humans, thus the Aliens life cycle restarts anew. Engineers worshiped the Alien because they're fanatics who want to destroy inferior beings. They see this organism as a divine gift or blessing for helping them achieve that goal. Or they're cocky bastards who are just commemorating their own success in cultivating a weapon from these 'perfect organisms'.
