Thank you for sharing to us your knowledge and experience. Great job! I believed on your word and didn’t buy that extra tool. I changed my Ioniq plug-in hybrid HSG belt with a box wrench (slightly offset) and 2 feet extension on it. I’ve done that with no problem, but very, very slowly and use my force. Definitely doable. You need another person to help you from the top while working underneath. Did it on my car placed on a little Harbor Freight ramp. First belt change after 200,310 miles (highway), as well as clutch actuator reservoir DOT 4 fluid change, and spark plugs. Didn’t have any problems with my car before, and the old belt was still good. Great quality. Thank you again and keep doing your best, God bless!

Great video!! I tried this method and I broke the 12point 17mm torque point on the tensioner arm - too much torque applied by myself (I guess)... I then ordered the belt tensioner compression for 100$ CDN and even though a bit slow process, I found this a safer method when you are working alone... BTW, keep on posting this great videos on the Ioniq Hydrid. They are well done, easy to understand and very educational. THANKS!!!

Jose, I started watching your channel because you used the Toyota Hybrid badge at the start ! After watching some of your videos on repairs of these Hyundais with the HSG drive belt , along with the ridiculous automatic dual clutch transmission they have . With the low mileage problems you have shown , along with the high priced upkeep . So glad I own a Toyota !😊

Great video! When he says go slow releasing the main tensioner, GO SLOW. Don’t ask me how I know but let’s say you did not go slow enough and sheared the bolt off so now you have to find another way to reset the tensioner… but who would do that😅😅 Floor jack and a pry bar going vertical while going SLOW can get it done 😅

My 2013 3rd Gen Prius is coming up on 100,000 miles. How much does it cost to clean the EGR cooler, valve, and intake manifold? I've heard that those clog, which can cause head temps to be above tolerance, which can lead to head gasket failure.

This is a very poor method. The tension on that 17mm tensioner is not built to accommodate the stress applied. The tensioner broke following this method, so others beware!! Whe nthe tensioner broke, I was lucky I did not get seriously injured. Just replace the belt the correct way and save yourself the risk.
