Such a sweet story about your mom. Hello Hyce’s mom. The “I don’t know how to announce stuff when it’s not like a meetup” at 31:17 and then unexpectedly meeting up with a Dutch dropped car set speeding down the rails is the pure ES&DT lore that we have come to expect. 😂 Haha, “I don’t want to get like, off track here”…. 1:12:05. Perfectly timed yet again. 🍌 Salami! A 2%’er here. Yes, it was a time. Got to hear of some lore and nostalgia, and even some deeper thoughts on life.

It's really wild that we all have that similar backstory of people shitting on you for liking trains... using the EXACT same talking points with Thomas and language that is... uhhh... not suitable for today's climate. I invited my parents to a Lego Convention near them and afterwards my mom made a comment that was, "It's really nice to see you engage with other people who also have Lego trains, its leaps and bounds away from the days when you were bullied for liking trains and Legos. I feel like I got to watch your inner child healing." It really is a blessing that I met my best friends thanks to the internet because of trains and that we can engage in an online community daily rather than live in a bubble where we have to mask our interests. Hope the younger railfans have it better than we had it in terms of the bullying.

For your British fun fact today, I’d like to introduce you to the story behind the Great Eastern Decapod. James Holden, the CME of the railway, was given the task of designing a making a steam locomotive for the specific purpose of showing off against competing electric trains. Specifically, to accelerate a 315 ton train from 0-30 mph in 30 seconds. For this he made an 0-10-0 tank engine, and once the demonstrations were over, he just made it into a 0-8-0 tender engine.

Graham County ran the Shays in scenic service from the 60s to the mid 70s. They ran freight with some kind of diesels that I cant remember till close and the tracks were torn up in 1980 I think. 2 of the Graham county shays survive! 1926 is in Cass, as youd assume, but its mostly a parts rig. The 1925 Is at the Spencer shops, currently undergoing a rebuild. #doitforJim I had the realization of this yesterday, that I have a physical connection with this game having seen the 1925 in person and its mind blowing to me. We need the New haven Jersey Lore, side note, whys Jersey remind me of Dusty from Twister especially with the 'Halen. 2% 2% 2%

My club in Riverside has a live steam big boy that runs on 7 1/2 inch gauge tracks and we don’t know how much it pulls. But I’ve heard of a story where they used our big boy and two other northerns to pull somewhere around 120 cars over at train mountain. But the craziest part about our big boy is that it has three oil burning nozzles where most live steam have one it was even donated to our club from the family of the original guy who built it and the city, of course tried to tax us like we were getting donated a real full size steam engine because it costs in the ballpark of a quarter of $1 million

When i was a kid, everyone my age, was more concerned about football, basketball or baseball. I couldnt care less. I played Soccer, that didnt help my social situation, I am also extremely fair skinned, my first born son actually has Albinism of the eyes because both my wife and I are so fair skinned. I didnt watch "sports" besides Racing. I grew up watching NOVA, Jeopardy, Modern Marvels, etc. I read everything i could get my hands on that dealt with anything, ANYTHING, that moved, Cars, planes, boats, spaceships, and of course, trains. My grandfather grew up dirt F***ing poor in Owlsley County Kentucky, and started working the railroad when the family Tobacco farm wasnt bringing in enough revenue for him and his 16 other siblings. Hell my grandfather, i think only finished 4th or 5th grade. Taught himself how to read and do math, and everything else. Dude was my damn hero. He got me into trains real quicklike, and took me to railyards he used to work at as a Heavy Equipment/rescue Operator when i was 5 years old. My mind was blown. I was already fascinated by transportation, but he worked with it, and that made it all the more special to me. He was a giant among men, to me at least. And when i tried to share my love of this stuff to classmates, yeah i was shunned, yeah i was bullied, yeah i got the hard R thrown at me more times than i can count. However, that grade school educated man, taught me more about life, how to work, how to fish, how to cook, how to be self reliant, how to work on cars and machinery, how to improvise and fabricate, and so did my parents too. But there is a reason, my first born, has his name, Colson. And you know what, all the people that bullied me, sure they know sports, good for them, they dont have life skills though. They have to pay somebody to fix their stuff. I do it myself. From wiring, to plumbing, to cars, computers etc. I'm a bonafide jack of all trades, because of him. So yeah man, take it on the chin, we all came out better, for the love of giants that shaped our lands, and the people who rode and built them.

I'm amazed how many people on the internet have come out about being picked on or bullied for liking Thomas the Tank Engine. I remember feeling weird because the series itself was in that "its for babies" period where the show got dumbed down hard and as result getting picked by other kids in my class. It lead to me having a dramatic switch from Thomas the Tank Engine to what I saw as less "baby" things like hype focusing on Star Wars & Video Games I saw my brother playing on our Xbox 360 (Call of Duty World at War & Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer because that's what was popular at the time & I vividly remember he played with his friends) but ironically I always came back to my love for Thomas somehow over time through fan content, but I owe it to that Fictional Blue Dumpster for giving me an appreciation for machinery, locomotives & anything else railroad related.

That was an impressively long ramble. An interesting ramble, and I liked hearing it, but still impressively long :)

I can't tell if Hyce is over-tired or violating rule G. Since it's the ES&D, I'm going with the latter 🤣

For the next Railroader Stream HYCE should be required to use NOTHING but the Strasburg Thomas Mod 😁. I feel ya on being looked down for liking trains and the whole Thomas thing however remember that George Carlin and Ringo Starr both narrated Thomas Stories and played the Conductor (Shining Time Station) so there's that...On a more serious-ish note, loving the GP38 work Beeman and Jersey did. Hope this opens more doors to other GP units being modded in or officially added in. I'd love to run a GP30 consist in this game.

In all honestly I made the comment at the start of watching the video before the whole Thomas - thing was mentioned- hence the edit. However come September I will definitely be donating towards Hyce's Jameson Fund....if the Thomas Mod would be traumatic i could only imagine what a Day Out With the Blue Dumpster event would be like lol.... He's gonna need something to help cope 😁
