Absolutely nailed it Shawn with the comment about filming on ride with phones which no one (who vlogs) likes to do, but their policy will have this unintended consequence. I’ve also found the security are uninformed and needlessly heavy handed, when in reality you’re not about to kick off and start fighting them, you’re literally taking a video. So any rudeness or aggression on their part is completely uncalled for. I’ve never known a marketing department nuke such a big free resource for themselves.

The filming policy process is ridiculous, gladly I’ve got permission this year as I completely boycotted the event last year like a few others did and yes it needs a complete refresh for next year as it’s pretty much been the same since 2016

Great, detailed summary of the event for 2024 guys, hoping to head there this weekend before it gets too busy by Xmas. We've been over the last few years and have noticed that the closer it gets to Christmas, some of the rides like XXL, airborne and blizzard run tiny cycles which makes it really bad value for money but whilst it's less busy you get a longer ride mostly.

Lovely to watch this again this year… I really look forward to it… this is the first year we won’t be visiting with our 2 little girls tho as we didn’t fully feel safe in London last year which is a shame…. My 6 year daughter also had a accident on the helter skelter ride she still has a nasty scar on her hand and the 2 staff were just laughing at her 😭 So annoying about the camera situation…. Dive Bomber booster is actually our 'go to' booster at Winter wonderland. You get a much better cycle (well over two minutes by comparison with airborne 1 minute) there's never much of a queue and it's very fast and spinny! Plus a few quid cheaper!

Very concerning to hear about the lack of security checks at an event like this. It’s also such a shame to hear of your experience with camera equipment, like you say people using their phones is just the same. I’m due to visit in a few weeks with a large group of friends as a yearly tradition, it would be great to see some changes to the line up next year and hopefully some changes to their handling of camera equipment entry next year. People approaching you is always nerve wracking in these busy locations anyways, but to feel uncomfortable recording/using your equipment when permission has been granted is certainly off putting. I really enjoyed your video anyhow. Thanks for bringing us the content and being HONEST! Cause that is important, good or bad! Happy Christmas to you both.

I went last year for the first time and loved it even though it was very expensive and very busy. Decided to give it another shot this year but will probably be the last for the foreseeable, spent £200 pre booking stuff on the website just for me and my daughter and even that does not cover everything! Also the fact that security are more concerned about vloggers than other things is a cause for concern.

Love your videos. You two are always so happy, sad that you were treated badly by security. I have been almost every year for the past 6yr. My favourite thing to do is the Ice Kingdom. I normally do ice mountain coaster, but last yr the staff did not tell/reminded me to put the seatbelt on, so i was thrown around a bit and felt unsafe. So, I'm not doing it again.

The safety checks is concerning especially being in London and of that scale, it’s just a recipe for a disaster! This really does put me off going to this event this year unfortunately and it shouldn’t take a serious incident to take place for the organisers to then take action. Iy makes you think if they’re cutting corners on security checks then where else? The camera policy is utterly bizarre and it’s a shame it has put a dampener on your day and is the last thing they need to be worried about! Thank you for the honest blog 😊

Since I've found this channel, there's one thing that has really struck me, and that's just how hardy you Brits are! I live in New England, and all the parks and fairs close on Halloween, and don't return until April. I would absolutely love to go to a fair in the cold winter months, or walk around a park like Funtown in Maine, or Canobie Lake Park in New Hampshire and enjoy all the lights, atmosphere, and a few brisk rides. The most expensive place on Earth 😂 I used to live in London and I remember easily spending over £150 (the last time I’ve been there was 2018 and it was me, my husband and a 2yo kid). The food and rides are extremely expensive, but we really enjoyed the atmosphere. From what I saw in the video, Winter Wonderland is still exactly the same as it was 6 years ago…

Thanks for the vlog! I went to Winter Wonderland last year but left a little miffed. I went on the star flyer, aeronaut and made the mistake of going on it when it was busy - cost £8 and the entire ride lasted around 90 seconds - it went up, spun round once, then went back down. I know they need to make money and I understand the cycle times reduce when it’s busy but I felt ripped off - it should have been longer.

Loved Winter Wonderland when I visited in 2019, pre-pandemic it was packed, too much we could barely move! I'd prefer it a bit quieter like this but I wonder if the cost of living crisis is having an impact, it was expensive enough before money got tight. Love to go again.

I think the security side of things definitely needs to be looked at from checking bags coming in but also train security in how the approach folk. Contractions there Shawn. “Safety is paramount” you always preach. They’re putting measures in place for the filming, but you have a go when security ask for your filming pass. They’re effectively doing their job. Isn’t that good they’re double checking? Would you still have a problem with the event even if they didn’t ask?

I agree, it’s such a busy event it makes sense they put this extra measure in place. Also reduces the chances of children being filmed without parental permission! Yeah lanyards probably a better idea than a wristband - but don’t disagree with the no filming policy!

Love you guys as always, fantastic vlog. Winter Wonderland has stagnated and very little was mentioned of the prices - They are obscene, especially on the food (a pre-booked hot dog and can of coke is £18) making even Merlin look like a bargain! We were going to go this year, but for just 2 people, the 5 main rides, ice skating and ice bar it's coming in at £200. Hard pass.

After my experience last year I don't think I'll be returning for a bit. I got stuck on Ice Mountain, along with a lot of other people in carriages behind us and it's not like they just walk you off the ride either. We felt very unsafe and I ended up having a huge panic attack; it was all quite traumatic. It was also my birthday which was just the icing on the cake!

Worth going once for Olympia Looping and the ice kingdom, I wouldn't go back now. Too big, noisy and crowded, and doesnt feel special or christmassy. The Alpen Hotel fun house was so much fun!

I was there on preview day no one seemed to care about cameras. I saw a few go pros, and I had a canon sx 25x zoom in my pocket. As a had no bags, security just used one of them hand hold scanners but didn't say anything or ask what was in my pockets. I'm not vloging but took loads of videos/ photos in front of their security no one stopped or questioned me at all.
