With the advent of the stabilizer, it is now possible to mount 6 shards.
So that means I can kill the Hydra faster, right?

Just my 2 cents. 4x module reinforcement does work and the protection does stack. But the protection percentage suffers a severe drop beyond the 3rd package (diminishing returns). That 4th MRP probably only adds about 1% to the protection. As well, my experience with placing a module reinforcement package in a military only slot has been ineffective. Beyond that, thank you very much. As it gives me hope of eventually getting successful kills against Thargoids larger than Cyclops. Is there some place I can get more information on this Stun Lock system you use?
@nagasan4059
@nagasan4059 Жыл бұрын
Yes, stacking many module reinforcement does little to improve defense. However, if you receive a lot of module damage like this battle, it is different. Hydra's Swarm has a lot of missiles so that cause HUGE module damages. 2 module reinforcements quickly break and become useless. Not enough. (In fact, in this video, one MRP is completely broken and one is partially broken at 3:30, even though it was repaired by AFMU. It took four to keep more than two MRPs working.) Stun-locking is a chain of attacks that destroys the heart while maintaining a mechanism called the sleep phase. Learning about the sleep phase is essential to performing stunlock. AXI Wiki is usefull for this. wiki.antixenoinitiative.com/en/mechanic-bypass Unfortunately, I don't know where Stanrock is explained. I learned about this tactic from my friend... However, since it only maintains the sleep phase and attacks, the theory of stunlock is not difficult if you understand the sleep phase. You should keep in mind that there are two ways to maintain the sleep phase while attacking, using a heatsink like I did, or using silent running. Using heatsink makes it difficult to manage heat for maintain the sleep phase, making it difficult to use high-heat weapons. On the other hand, Silent running doesn't have that problem, but of cause modules will be damaged by heat.

No diminishing return. Every MRP gives you 2.5x more effective module life. So 2 mean 6.25x, 3 mean 15x, 4 means 37x for internal. For external modules it is only 30%, damage reducion which is around 1.4x life for 1, 2x for 2, 2.8x for 3, and so on. But the MRP hitpoint itself is linear, so 2 MRP obviously has 2 more health. But yes, there is no point in 37x internal life, because you won't lose them until MRP last anyway, so 2 is usually enough with AFMU. However for external modules a 3rd or even 4th can make a difference.
@Neo-vz8nh
@Neo-vz8nh Жыл бұрын
@@nagasan4059 i may suggest swaping one 4D MRP to 4A AFMU, and the 1A AFMU to 1D MRP. The reason is that AFMU repairs MRP 10 times more effectively, so a 4A AFMU gives 1512 integrity to MRPs, while a 4D MRP itself has only 235 integrity. And of course (as you may know) AFMU repairs MRP during mid combat without any drawback.
@draconusspiritus1037
@draconusspiritus1037 Жыл бұрын
@@Neo-vz8nh Yes diminishing returns. 1 MRP gives 60% protection. Meaning that 60% of the damage that would have been applied to whatever module or modules, 60% of it is diverted to the MRP. Adding a second MRP increases the percentage to just 84%. As MRP's are used up or disabled, the protection percentage goes down. Not a major concern usually for PvE or PvP. As most encounters won't last long enough to disable even one MRP. Having 3 MRP's all but guarantees your hull will probably fail before your canopy will blow out. 3x MRP's provides 94% protection. 4x gives 97% protection. 99% for 5. 100% at 6. In AX, Thargoids will actively target Drives, FSD, and PP. Often in that order. It's kind of like relying on SCB's and thinking you have massive shield strength because Coriolis counts SCB's when calculating shield health. But once your shields go down, all those SCB's are worthless. Find the balance that works best for you
@Neo-vz8nh
@Neo-vz8nh Жыл бұрын
@@draconusspiritus1037 But still not understand your points. 100% protection means full immunity, so your internal modules won't take damage. From this point it does not really matter if we count with 99% or 95% damage reduction, altough the former has 5x times many health, both can be considered immune. But the MRP will take damage, and a 4D has 235, 5D has 350 integrity, which is not that many if you recieve massive module damage. 2x 4D MRP will be still just 470. So adding extra MRP can make a difference. Obviously, it is a balance dance about what you need better, hull or integrity. But the main problems are external modules which only recieve 30% damage reduction, so the modules still gets 70% damage. 49% with 2, 34% with 3, 24% with 4. 76% damage reduction still not that many, especially if we consider that C2 mod Shard has an integrity of 42. To be honest this is the sole reason why hull tank builds are inferior to shield tank builds in PvP, or even in PvE sometimes, because missiles (especially the Packhound) eats away external modules. And the Thargons behave very similarly.

Some possible suggestions: Try to use guardian module reinforcement. More integrity per module. Thermal vent beams maybe, but I believe the frag cannon will do more thermal DPS given you're face tanking. But use all modified shards, I don't see the point of having class 3 standard shards. Other than that, amazing job.
@nagasan4059
@nagasan4059 Жыл бұрын
It's a good point, I'm glad you noticed it. There is a reason why I use 2 class 3 standard shards. Because I also considered using all 6 modified ones, but that would consume too much WEP (meaning low damage par energy) and low shield damage. Of course, there is also the factor of simply being hot. I think it's possible to use 6 modshards by using 2 or more heatsinks at the same time (heatsink have a WEP recovery effect), but then there are another problem: not enough heatsinks for 5 minutes battle. So, using only one heatsink in same time, firepower to the shield, DPE, heat, and firepower to light up the first heart in first magazine... As a result of trying to meet all these requirements, I have select 4modshards and 2standard shards. There aren't many reasons why you didn't use Guardian MRP. I personally don't like that it can't be turned off. That's the only reason. (I'm using translator, so sorry if my English is wrong)

@@nagasan4059 another solution, albeit I didn't see if you had it, is using the Sirius pre-engineered heatsinks have absurd capacity at the cost of reload. And hey, you don't need a xeno scanner if you can identify visually and focus the heart manually for another heatsink.
@nagasan4059
@nagasan4059 Жыл бұрын
@@samgames2096 This video already has 7 Sirius heatsinks. Of course I could have used 8, but for my tactics, 7 would have been enough, so I added a Xeno scanner (wouldn't this look better as a video? - that's the reason). There are only 2 heatsinks left at the end of the video, so even if I had 8 Sirius heatsinks, it wouldn't have been enough to use double heatsinks tactics. Mod Plasma Charger, that's a nice weapon too, great for hunting scouts, high power, not hot. So good for AXCZ. As you know, DPE is very low so it's not the best for stunlock. Anyway, it's fun to think about the possibilities of various builds.

I use 4 C3 basic shard with 2 C2 mod shard. It is still has good dps while heat sink not even neccessary, because it wont deplete the WEP capacitor. It is harder to use for sure, but also punish you less. It can kill Medusa, one shot Cyclops. Never tried Hydra though.

This is a tactic called stunlock, and simply explained, after destroying a heart, it stops moving for about 30 seconds by not being detected, and destroys the next heart during this time to create a chain. It looks easy, but it's actually not as easy as it looks. The Hydra is very robust, to the point where it was unworkable before the arrival of Stabilizers, so of course any delay in operation will cause this tactic to fall apart.

@nagasan4059 Жыл бұрын
@@xboxisgay23 To be honest, I think the Gauss Cannon is an ‘old weapon’ in these days. It’s up to you whether you try Stunlock or not, but I don’t think it’s a mistake to use mod shards. Mod shards are also useful in general tactics like Cold Orbit. If you're looking for a large-scale battle such as Open's AXCZ, you'll want to learn other tactics than the Stunlock tactic. Because there are many times can't do stunlock due to NPCs, lag, and other players' actions. Well, Stunlock may look simple, but it’s actually more complicated than it looks. If it were easy, there should be more videos of people soloing Hydra in 5 minutes, right? That’s what shows the difficulty. What is important in Stunlock is understanding the behavior and mechanics of Thargoids. Learning Stunlock helps you understand AX. Conversely, if you don’t understand the mechanics, you can’t do Stunlock. Now, to understand the mechanics, AXIWiki is useful. To learn how Stunlock works (why Hydra doesn’t counterattack), it’s a good idea to learn about the sleep phase. wiki.antixenoinitiative.com/en/mechanic-bypass Also, there is information about the behavior after destroyed the heart here. wiki.antixenoinitiative.com/en/combat-speedrunning Same tactics can be used to take down Medusa or below when using basic ammo.
