Very nice lab videos. I am wondering why you are not using a shlenk line for switching between the inert gas and vacuum. Maybe you just don't have one on hand but I find it much better for purging the flask before the hydrogen and you do not have to switch out stoppers as much so the reaction is better sealed.

Obtaining primary amines from nitriles requires ammonia presence (or other organic base), not acetic acid; Additionally raney nickel requires really high pressure, over 30atm, not just baloon.. Did You received anything beside starting material here?

Basically, this is a procedure for the reduction of a nitrile to the corresponding amine with hydrogen gas and a Ni catalyst.
