My lawnmower was hydrolocked as badly as the one in this video. I can tell you from first-hand experience that it was not because the oil was overfilled. I hydrolocked my lawnmower my storing it standing upright "on its nose". That said; this video was godsent. I stripped the carb, fuel tank, exhaust muffler and airbox and cleaned it all up. Pulled the pull starter (with the spark plug out) a few times too. Put the lot back together and presto; the old girl is running again like a charm. Thanks for this video. I am certain it saved me a bundle to either pay someone else to service my lawnmower or worse than that; buying a new one.

Same thing happened on my Webb Mower totally locked because i tipped up the mower to clean the grass of but forgot about it and left it tipped up .spark plug removed and turned over a few times plug replaced and no problem job done

Good diagnosis and fix , and now a fine mower . I wonder if they stored it over winter stood on end to save room in the shed. all that lovely sump oil settled in its new lowest point the barrel and carb. if the exhaust valve open then exhaust.🤔 good video 👌

Hi Roy,I believe you will find that the extra length of starter cord was to allow it to pass the ring attached to the right handle,you can see it at 1 min 50 seconds,allows you to start the mower when standing upright.

What if you have all the symptoms of a hydro locked engine but no oil comes out of the spark plug hole? The string pulls when the spark plug is out but feels locked up when the plug is put back in?

Is the plug the correct one for it what plug is it

A Briggs and Stratton plug that looks like the exact size as the one I’m replacing.

I also have a Briggs engine appears to be hydro locked but no fluid in cylinder and flywheel key not sheard. Any advise?

I have been told flywheel key way sheard. But mine is not sheard.

@@copedennis1 I think I’ve narrowed it down to the flywheel pin also but haven’t had the chance to tare it down again yet. I went and bought the pins already.

Dang the oil is everywere there so much oil looks like they keep refilling the oil wow in the gas tank in the carburetor in the exhaust in the spark plug wow
