Fan 4 crisp, Pump & Bin... this is GOLD advice! I'm binging your videos before we take plunge and set up Gardyn tonight after moving into our new home. Still have unpacking to do, but figured, why wait till all of that is done. We're hoping by the time we are done getting settled, we at least have some true leaves to enjoy. I got a lot of value from this video, thank you!!!

Just do it! It doesn't take that long to set up😀. Once set up, you can forget about it for a few weeks and let it do its thing (except for adding water/nutrient). In case you want to keep it simple. Gardyn also works just fine without all the bells and whistles (fan, pump, H202, hydroboost, ect.).

Thank you for your beautiful channel and presence. I just ordered my iHarvest today! I have been working with an Aerogarden farm, but have quickly - in less than a month - realized that my plants need more room! I am so beyond excited and your videos have really inspired me The iHarvest is so beautiful and I love the sound of running water (I have little water fountains all around my house). There is never enough water sounds :D

I am just getting interested in growing my veggies inside. You commented to keep soil out of your home if growing hydroponics. I have a ton of indoor plants. Just to clarify (because I know nothing about this) I could compromise my indoor veg/hydroponic system with house plants growing in soil, correct? I have not heard this anywhere else and this seems like huge thing to know!!!

If you have been having your house plants for a while and there is no sign of pests, I don't think it is an issue. If you buy a new plant, it might be a problem unless you quarantine that plant for a period of time. Some people are lucky and don't have any problem. I had a huge infestation so I am very cautious nowadays. Safest bet is to keep house plants away from the hydroponic system. May be in a different area of the house.

Thank you for your channel. I’m new to hydroponics and started to wonder if you can’t grow flowering or fruiting plants in the same system with leafy greens at the same time? I’m assuming not because of different plant foods. Have you been able to accomplish it? Sure would be nice if the tank and system could be split in half with leafy greens on one side fruiting on the other half.
@plant4table
@plant4table 2 жыл бұрын
You can definitely grow cucumbers, eggplants, strawberries, tomatoes... with leafy green. No need to dedicate a separate tower for just fruity plants. You just need to adjust the nutrients level up a bit to accommodate them when bearing fruits. That's why Gardyn include a mix of tomatoes, peppers and leafy greens in their kit. Just that if you want to optimize fruiting plants, it is best to adjust the nutrient level to their needs.

Depending on the flower, some may be harder to force blooming unless light is well controlled. 12 on and 12 off is usually a good approach. Make sure they are covered for the 12 off daily cycle to ensure ambient room light does not interfere with the dark period. Also be sure to use hydroponic fertilizer and it may be wise to check water PH from time to time. Often you can find specialized fertilizer for blooming cycles. Feeding plants would be another great topic for the channel.

Hello. Thank you for the video. Can you plant vegetables with high nutritional requirements together with lower nutritional requirements plants like eggplant and lettuce in gardyn at the same time ? How do you meet each nutritional requirements,thank you
@plant4table
@plant4table 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, I think it is doable. I have planted lettuces with tomatoes before and they were doing well. Cucumbers however did not produce much. I am not sure if it was because of the low ppm or the cucumber variety at the time. I will have to do an experiment. I have not grown lettuces and eggplants in the same system. Eggplants and cucumbers need ppm around 1,800-2,200. You can try growing them together at about 1,500 ppm and see how they turn out. Have fun!

@Nicole Weltman hmm I used AG to grow cherry tomatoes and they did fine. Sometimes it depends on the seedlings too. They might get growth stunned and some type of diseases for some reason.

Do leafy greens tend to bolt sixty days after they germinate or after you start harvesting? Thank you for the clarification!

From my experience, lettuces usually bolt 60-70 days after gemination.

I think it is depends on the variety too. Make sure you choose the ones that is prolific and self pollinate so that you don't have to manually pollinate the female flowers. Buy F1 varieties. The seeds might be expensive but so worth it.
