This is being done outside as well, The buckets will not flood since they continually drain. The 27 gallon bin can over flow from the rain, but just check your TDS (nutrient level) and adjust if needed. See the nutrient KZbin video. Thanks

Create some space at the outlet drain of the bucket. A little bit of large gravel or pieces of pvc at the bottom can help.Perlite might be too fine and not allowing to drain correctly.

if you lift the water reservoir high enough. you can gravity feed it to the plants by drilling a hole in the container lower than the top of the water and put in a valve. open the valve three times a day and your done. you could even put in a solenoid to open the valve three times a day or have a power valve. so you could do it without the pump. just a thought.

how do you clean and store your perlite from the dutch buckets in-between growing. I live in Ohio and do my dutch buckets outside so after the growing season I have to do something with it before winter comes. I started with 60 buckets last year with great success and I have moved up to 228 buckets this year. I saw that one guy soaks his paint strainers with the perlite in a mild bleach water, then rinses it, lets it dry, then dumps the perlite into 55 gallon plastic drums then next season dumps back into each bucket with strainer. Does this sound about right to you? or do you have an easier method? Thank you for your time!
