Hi Kevin! Hope you’re able to see this comment despite it being 4 years old. By any chance, would you do an update on hydroponics for vegetable gardening?

interesting points ,if anyone else is searching for aquaponics courses try Debuncar Amazing Aquaponics Aid ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my work buddy got great success with it.

I've been watching your container gardening videos for awhile- you're channel is one of my faves! but anyways.. as of today- I've decided I want to get into hydroponic growing- I immediately thought of you and this is the first ever hydro video tutorial I've watched and, to no surprise, extremely helpful! Is that blog post you mention still available to everyone? Thanks #plantdaddy 😜🥰

hi just a little tip that may work better and cheaper than spraying the tote is to secure a black sheet of plastic or bin liner to the outside of the tote. Rolls of plastic is very cost effective solution if you have lots of totes Keith (Thailand )

Good tip - I opted to spray for portability sake...less moving parts or things that can fall off, but your method works great too :)

This is fantastic! Thank you! I’m new to hydroponics but is it safe to assume this setup would work well growing lettuce and leafy greens instead of herbs?

Can you mix plants with the herbs, like strawberries? Will they all get the same nutrients they need?
@epicgardening5 жыл бұрын
I try not to mix fruiting plants and plants I grow for their vegetation due to diff nutrient requirements over life span

Hi Kevin, do you have to flush the plants before harvesting?
@epicgardening10 жыл бұрын
clydog1 I typically don't and don't notice any issues...the way I figure is I don't flush anything I grow in soil (because it's impossible), so if I have the right amount of nutrients in the system why would I have to flush?
@HeliosZA7 жыл бұрын
Well - am I not experienced with Hydroponics; but I have grown using soilless mediums (therefore using nutrients to feed) and the reason you have to flush is because you want to get rid of the nutrients in the medium. The reason you don't do this with soil isn't because it is 'impossible' - you can theoretically flush soil if you keep it in pots and have good enough drainage - but it is because with soil you do not put nutrients (other than maybe some supplementary feeding) and therefore the nutrients are in the soil from the beginning of the grow. This means that by the end of the grow, there are very little nutrients left in the soil - because the plant should have consumed them all. With hydroponics / soilless: you are permanently adding nutrients, because there are no nutrients in the medium itself. Therefore, by the end of the grow there is nutrient buildup in your medium and you would thus want to flush it. The reason for flushing, is so that your plant can use up all the excess nutrients it has already in its storage, in an attempt to minimise the 'harsh' aspect that comes from having high levels of nutrients still in your plant at time of harvest.

Hi there, nice tutorial. Just one thing about your water level topping from a premade reservoir of water with nutrient. The water shouldn't be still for a long time so you don't develop any algae. Be careful about that, otherwise, thanks!

Because pronouncing the h is the British variation of the word. Which I find odd because many Brits drop their h's.

Can you eat plants with nutrients? Aren't nutrient solutions inedible?
@epicgardening7 жыл бұрын
You wouldn't want to drink the nutrient solution, that's for sure. But all plants have nutrients within them, growing hydroponically is just a different way of getting those nutrients to your plants' roots!
