HYMN: Now Israel may say, and that truly - Ps 124 [Old 124th]

"Our soul is escaped even as a bird out of the snare of the fowler: the snare is broken, and we are delivered ."
WORDS: A metrical version of Psalm 124, as printed in The Scottish Psalter of 1929; authored by William Whittingham (1524-1579), an English Puritan, translator of the Genevan Bible, and a close colleague of John Knox. Whittingham also left us ‘The Lord’s my shepherd’ and many other metrical psalms still in common use.
TUNE: The Old 124th, first published in the 1551 edition of the Genevan Psalter and composed by Frenchman Louis Bourgeois.
