Just me riding a Hyosung GT250R around and telling you what I think of it. Its a customers bike that I did some work on and needs to be road a bit after sitting for a while.

I've purchased my 2010 Hyosung GT250R last August and has been a great machine! My 7th bike since 1966 and must say it's been one of the most fun!

Im 6'6" and found the GT250R was one of the 250cc bikes I could comfortably fit on. As for the rust deal? My bike has lived outside for the last 2 years in sun, rain, snow, frost and hail and still cleans up fine.

V twin, large tank, twin disc, large tyres, digital read out with fuel gauge, oil cooled, large frame designed for a 650, designed by Suzuki gurus and if you fit a good pipe it sounds awesome. Too many positives to knock it. Just a good fun reliable bike if you don't want to try and break the sound barrier every ride. Still does 180kph

hey jake, nice video! i'm looking at a 2015 gt250r for my oldest kid's first bike. i'm excited, because i have wanted to play with one of these for so long. i'm a big fan of v twin sport bikes. i have had 5 sv650's and a superhawk, among many other bikes. your review was good, and i'm more pumped than ever. esp since i'm getting the fuel injected version that came later.

"That guy can't even break the law.." LOL! Thank you so much for this review, though. I'm thinking about one of these instead of the Ninja. The appearance, size, and that digital speedometer - I love it. But I keep hearing that its "crap", and the worst part is nobody ever has any reasons of information to back it up.. We'll see, I don't mind either way but this bike is beautiful!

Pretty cool idea to put a 250 in a full-sized frame. There would probably be a big market for them in states, but I've never seen one for sale, or even seen one in person where I live.
@JacketedSoftPoint12 жыл бұрын
i think the reason they say its crap is because its a pain in the ass to find parts for it, some of the japanese dealers have parts that will work on this bike, but from where im at, there's one for sale at $700, a REALLY good deal, and its the naked version, but theres no store that sells parts for it for miles around. this bike is way too under rated just because its never been heard of and that its Korean made, but some people are too stupid to see a good deal when its right in front of them.

@rosenfeld8 Maybe the new ninja 250 is less cramped but I know on the old one I was. The R1 felt great at 6ft. It's a more aggressive riding style and it fit me well.

Well, I'm from Malaysia, And yes, those naked bikes or underbones are not bad at all actually, for commuting etc. They're light, nimble, can filter traffic like crazy and very quick at acceleration(depending on the displacement though). My beloved 135LC is considered a very good bike LOL. But still, as I said, it's the only choice for majority of us Asians. Motorcycle are very expensive here, as I said, a new Ninja 250 will cost us RM22000 or USD $7200 here in Malaysia.

Great vid. I have the '08 GT250, standard version. Like the one in your vid, the forks were so spongy it was dangerous. It's perfect now after changing from 5W to 10W fork oil with the spec amount. Didn't seem like there was nearly enough oil in them from the factory after draining. Great ninja 250 alternative for taller riders indeed. The sport version position is pretty aggressive for a new rider and I think the headlights are ugly. My standard does well for learning.
@NCCVE13 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info. $80 for a gear switch is pretty steep, but meh. The bike looks a hell of a lot cooler than the ninja imo, and I've seen the 08 model on craigslist for around $1500 a few times. As far as handling goes, would you say there's any difference between say an 05-07 ninja and an 08 Hyo?
@JohnL-m2l11 жыл бұрын
Sounds cool. I want to get a Ninja 250 as my next bike, but after hearing what Jake had to say, I might just go with the 600. But I'll have to get a new license coz my license is only up to 250cc. I'm currently riding a 125cc underbone. It's small, but it's pretty heavy. As far as I know, modern bikes are pretty lightweight. Ride safe man, sad to hear you hit it four times. I know a guy who bought an R1 as his 1st bike and wrecked it but somehow managed to sell it off. But he was a douche.
@CoryMp311 жыл бұрын
ninja250r, the lighter weight and slower speed saved me in one wreck. have been hit twice on it and it has been hit twice in parking lots, outgrew the speed of the bike in about 10days. been saving for a 600 ever since, I have a strong sense of self control though. Just want clip-ons, inline 4 sound and bigger rear tire you get from a 600

GardenSnake, Your riding by where I live, I'm looking to get a bike in a few weeks. Id love advice on what you think about riding about North DFW. I do want a sportbike, what do you think about a ninja250r to start off then move to a 600 class? or just skip the 250?

do you find the R1 more confortable then a ninja 250? I own a 250 ninja, am 6ft2 and am not cramped at all, not unless I wear really thick soled boots, but with normal shoes it's comfortable. I love the ninja, but perhaps one day I'll go for a supersport, my only concern is the lack of comfort. Since you've had an R1 and ridden the ninja 250 you should be able to tell weather the R1 is much less comfortable or not. BTW now at the moment I'm riding a DT125X a freakin fun little shoutty 2 stroke
@ymala112 жыл бұрын
Very cool video, laid back, and not boring at all actually. So it was mentioned a tall person could get on something like this without feeling cramped,how about someone at 5'7" - 8", would it be difficult to ride being that height?
@AQHackAQ12 жыл бұрын
Yes 2 strokes are simply awesome!Though they aren't the most friendly to your pocket in terms of fuel and maintenance.A popular 2 strokes in Malaysia is called the Yamaha 125ZR with underbone configuration. Oh yeaa, the old CBR 250 had 4 cylinders, the new, 2011 one have only 1 now. I've tried the new one, the first sports bike I've tried, very exhilarating and that was only 250cc LOL. I think,in the near future,my first 'real' bike would be the Ninja KRR ZX-150,what do you think? 2vs4 stroke?

i started on a 600cc fz6r big difference than a 600cc r6. so its ur call, I HIGHLY suggest the ninja 650r... its not a 4 cylinder (hard to learn on) and it doesnt have a leaned position. literally perfect first big bike. or you can get a ninja 250r which i would not suggest buying brand new!!

Wow that's a really nice bike, looks small, light and nimble yet with a powerful 350cc engne. 2 cylinders huh, the acceleration must be amazing. Would love to use it to zip through the highway and city. Just did a research on wikipedia, it says that this bike is now somewhat a collector item in the US? that would be tough. Well another thing that annoys me with 2 strokes are the distinctive noise, they just sound annoying, hurts my ear...

@AQHackAQ12 жыл бұрын
BTW we have limited choices, unless you're rich, we'll have to stick with our underbones and mopeds. My Yamaha 135LC is considered fast and at least maybe desirable to most people. A 150cc bike is considerably awesome to have. A 250cc and you're considered a very rich person. A 1000cc bike is considered overkill

Dont waste your time looking at a Ninja for $4500? Hyosung left overs 2009- 2010 go for $3000 New Bro, I got one for the price & I see them always selling! If you want a 2 stroke get an old used Yamaha RZ 350 they are a cheap Twin cylinder 2 stroke the can rip very hard and when tuned right can produce 100+HP. 4 Strokes I am starting to like more than 2 strokes as I get older. 4 Strokes make very good Torque across a wide RPM range plus they last much longer between servicing plus I don't like mixing oil and or filling oil ect. The new CBR 250s are not even close to the old 4 cylinder ones the new CBR 250s do not even have racing motors in them.

Aprillia RS 125 2 Stroke is good and fast when tuned properly 180km/h top speed but they are not very relaible. Another great lower cc bike is the CBR 250 the "OLD" one with a High Performance 20,000rpm rev limit liquid cooled inline 4 cylinder. Me I prefer Big Bore power bands cause I like riding duals sports in the dirt and on the road and 120km/h at a lower rpm is much nicer than a buzzy gutless turd LOL.

Not much power from a 135cc I say a High Performance 250cc is the bare minimum specialy in north America where the roads are long, open and fast. Even a High Performance 250cc 4 stroke is cutting it close for a man of average weight, hieight and skill. Plus a 250cc 4 stroke will always have a hard time maintaining speed on the highway 10,000rpm is not fun when it's time to cruise.
@AQHackAQ12 жыл бұрын
LOL what are your maximum speed limit of highway in the USA? 110MPH?!? Our speed limit is 110km/h on the highway in Malaysia, and a 250cc motorcycle is more than enough to keep up with the traffic. LOL I've been hearing a lot of you Americans complaining about bikes such as Ninja 250, Hyosung GT250r, CBR250 not being able to keep up on the highway/freeway. You westerns are extremely lucky, because sports bike are dirt cheap. A new Ninja 250 will cost us RM22000 or USD $7200
