I have the red and black one, and I honestly ended up liking it MUCH more than I thought I would! It's definitely not perfect but I really enjoy it, and being able to play some of the Evercade cartridges really well also won me over. I took it on a work trip with a few arcade carts that I picked up and had a lot of fun with it, and I was really happy that I took it along with me. The Data East, Irem, Toaplan and Gaelco arcade carts are my favorite. Xenocrisis also plays awesome on the systen with the button layout.

It's weird I think it mostly feels unnecessary but for 50-60 this could help you look into it, maybe get another cart and if it's not for you then your only out line 80 dollars US. I think it's fine for people wanting to collect something that's kinda Atari related or retro gaming related, but most of this stuff is available elsewhere

I ordered one of the red/black unit from Amazon. I was a bit skeptical but it's actually a nice handheld. For the price it's a great deal.

I have the Capcom one and the Atari Linux and Atari home console carts. Still might get this at some point but it's not a rush purchase. Overall I like the evercade experience.

Just recently got into Evercade and have been enjoying it, the Irem Arcade cartridge is what won me with R-Type and Moon Patrol. I have the Capcom version of this unit and the speakers on that one are quite loud, wonder if it's different parts in the Atari version or just different internal design. Would be great if Atari would renew the license with Blaze so we could get the Atari and Lynx carts again at more reasonable prices.

The devs claim that the only cart that won't work is the first one they made, because of licensing issues. So it only works on official evercade hardware.

Due to the control issues you experienced and the low volume you described, it sounds like you received a defective unit. From what I hear, everyone says the audio is very loud.

I have the Taito Super Pocket and the sound is really loud on it. Have to keep it turned down most of the time. Wonder if they have changed something. I bought mine last year when it first came out.

@@RetroDean66 I had an issue where there was no sound for a while. I was thinking of returning it and it started working out of the blue. Wonder if mine is actually faulty.

The main problem I have with the evercade format is I don't want to pay yet again for games I already own. I also don't like the idea of paying for games I don't want. If you could order a cartridge with 5-10 games that you got to pick, it would be much more attractive. The computer game cartridge sounds good, though if they added in Annalynn along with Donut Dodo, it might cinch the deal for me. The lack of brightness control sounds bad too. I use an RG350 and a GP2X, but I am thinking of upgrading. The RG350 is a very nice machine and built well with a nice bright IPS (I believe, though I don't know for sure) screen. It can run up to PSX pretty well, though I wish it could run Saturn games. But nothing past the Saturn and PSX really have much pull for me.

@@Mohammed1000real that's a good point. But I wouldn't expect that from Blaze and Evercade. Maybe we'll get something with an SD card slot from another handheld that's supposedly coming soon...

That's not what Blaze Entertainment stands for. All games are fully licensed. If you want emulation, Evercade is not for you. But if you like physical carts with licensed and curated games, it is.

For 60 bucks you can get a decent emulation handheld with emulators for most systems in a hundred different formats including this gameboy like format. They have better screens and can run a wide variety of ROMs.

@@tarstarkusz I think Evercade is probably for collectors who want something new to collect for while staying in the realm of retro. I personally think the indie stuff is great and I'm sure it's a dream come true for some of these developers to see their games on cartridges and being sold. I imagine a lot of them had childhood dreams of releasing and designing NES, SNES and other games and seeing their creation being sold and enjoyed. Me personally I've tried several rom players and consoles over the years with the intent of playing Blood Omen but there was always something off. Either something with the audio, or some kind of graphical garbage, etc. So it's nice having this version that plays essentially perfect, although the speaker was a let down for myself. Sounds like this product isn't for you but I'm sure lots of people are enjoying it and I think it's a cool little niche product. And I mostly like the selection of Atari games.

It is bad enough Atari is milking their own properties to death, but now other companies?licensing games half a century ago! Is insane!Who is this made for? Atari flashback classics for switch is portable, only 40$, has triple the amount of games, and this has multiplayer.

Honestly I think you're looking at this unit all wrong. It's an Evercade player with 50 built in Atari games. So if your in the market to jump into Evercade then the built in games are a bonus vs the original or EXP units. Admittedly those units have better build quality and larger screens (to my understanding) but the Atari, Taito and Capcom units are cheaper with built in games. So it's a stand alone console that can play the library of Evercade carts with Atari games built in as a sort of bonus or incentive to dive in. But further more, making these games available to people who want to play them, in as many forms as people want to buy, isn't a negative thing. As long as the consumers are happy and get access to these classics, it's a win win to me. And if they don't want them then they'll speak with their wallets and Atari will stop reselling them over and over again...
