So pretty! I see a lot of hands since I work at a school. There is quite a variation in nail color amongst people. I definitely have a yellower natural nail than my coworker for example.

I’m not saying your wrong but there are MANY FACTORS to why a nail is more or less yellow and the top factors of WHY MOST people have overtly yellow nails to the point that most of you are saying “Most nails are a little more yellow”…..well yes, the people that you speak of in “most” with this yellow tinge….Well, I hate to shock you but if any of you are licensed aestheticians then you would or should have been taught some form of what deficiencies can show by looking at clean un polished nail. So, in theory, the nails that some of you are saying “needed more yellow” is quite a sad thing to read as someone who has spent 3 + decades in Medicine. That “yellow” that you are so accustomed to seeing in a “natural” nail is a sign of high cholesterol. MORE than 100 MILLION Americans have HIGH CHOLESTEROL. THAT is a sad and shockingly high percentage showing the health of the average person that you see most. Of course there are other “signs” showing deficiencies such as ridges in nails, no “moon” or a very large “moon”, splitting of the nail horizontally vs vertically etc etc. All of which are signs that as a nail aesthetician you SHOULD have been taught in school, at least a good school. If you were not, do some research and learn some signs of what nail malformations can mean. Certainly preface any “discovery” in a clients nail with “I am not a medical professional, however we were taught that ……. So it might be a good idea to show your doctor your nails as it could mean ___ to ____.” Now I realize they are there to spend money and you are not there to scare the bejeebers out of them so casually mention it if you feel strongly you may be onto something because if they have been seeing you every 2 weeks for a touch up or polish change, we would likely NEVER get a chance to see their real nails, “naked and afraid” and they can tell us a LOT in some cases such as pre-surgery we will insist that ALL fake nails are taken off, toes and hands as it is the quickest way for us to check what is called “cap refill” meaning if I squeeze the thumb or middle finger and then let go, I am pushing all of the blood out and as fast as the blood comes back into the nail will show me the changes in blood flow that will help to diagnose something such as shock or other blood circulation issues. It is an excellent test to use to help diagnose an altered mental state, circulation of 02, dangerously low or high vital signs (Bp, pulse, breathing rate and temp as well as oncoming loss of consciousness. Yes, your health can tell us a LOT through something as simple as checking your nails. I have great respect for aestheticians with training of this nature as I had a patient come in with what was clearly a new manicure and some absolutely WILD nails (I believe she called them sculptured nails? They had flowers on them that looked like baby roses. Really pretty but obviously something I couldn’t put a glove on LOL!) and she presented well although a bit overweight and said that her “Nail Lady” insisted that she come and show you (me) the photos she took prior to doing her nails. Annnnnddddd guess what color they were? YELLOW. Not a slight tinge and not “butter” yellow but that slightly “off” tinge that (to me) it sounds like you are all saying that more realistic nails have more yellow. Well, going by what I am seeing here and the “needs more yellow” comments, that would be about what I saw and I sent her for blood work that, sure enough, showed that she was indeed very high in her cholesterol as well as some other issues. It might sound like “nothing” to you or that it is “none of my business as I am not in the health care world” BUT, it is something that absolutely made a difference in this woman’s life and had nothing been seen or managed correctly like taking photos of her nail before having that “Sculpted set of true artistry” done on her nails, she may have continued to just go about her life not knowing, or she could have been on her way to a major heart attack as it did turn out she had a 97% blocked coronary artery and ended up having an Angioplasty plus a stent. THAT Aesthetician saved her life just by taking photos of her “naked” nails. If you have the training, USE IT. If you do not, LEARN IT. I personally would not hesitate to explain to a patient in your line of work, what to watch for, especially if your interest in learning is sincere. And one quick note……just because a client may be overweight vs a client that appears thin and fit, never assume that the slim client is “MORE” healthy than the thin one. High cholesterol and Cap Refill have no prejudice against who they go after! Just keep your phone handy if they do not have theirs or email your photos to them to bring to their GP. The OTHER issue about the “more yellow” to look natural is easy and one I would expect you all to know, YOUR SCREEN PANTONE. Not every screen will show the same colors unless calibrated to a Pantone so don’t go by the screen on any electronic including a television as the color you SEE being 100% perfect because it RARELY IS. Other than that, your career choice is important to the health care field when you take a 100% interest in the health of your clients nail, you are actually taking an interest in the clients health if you know what to look for and that one patient was not the first one sent to me by her “Nail Lady” so keep up the great work and if you do not or did not learn that in school then it is never too late so research and talk to someone in general medicine or even ICU, CCU or ER if you know a Nurse, Doctor or a Specialist! YOU are important and have played a part, many times, in saving a clients life by just giving your opinion based on what you learned. And that is all you are doing is giving an opinion, from there, it is up to them. So, thank you for what you do besides making beautiful nails and happy people.❤

Great colour match but I think they needed to be a little more transparent, this would have made them perfect. Regardless, I really think you did a awesome job, one of the best I've seen. Years ago we had a fellow tech who released her own free edge colour (hard gel) and it sold really well, I do not know why the market didn't keep it going, I always had clients asking for natural looking nails.

These came out much better…! In my opinion, a little too much white as the natural nail is a bit sheer..also I think the shade of the natural free edge is more of a beige tinge than a solid yellow..just my opinion..I’m sure you’ll have lots! 😊 Also..I’m a gel nail tech and I use a beige builder gel when extending a nail and it comes out a perfect shade of natural!😀

Oh my goodness!!!! That is so beautiful! I used to get my nails done like this in the mid 90’s and instead of a clear gloss my tech put buffering cream in and buffed them with a drill buffer. They would shine and I could paint them and take it off and the buffering shine would stay. LOVED IT! excited to see this trend coming back. I also have very small nail beds so he used a pink that wasn’t so transparent so it would disguise that. I even had them longer on my left hand and not “completely” perfect which really made them look natural. Also, if anyone asked if they were my nails I always said yes…my shirt, shoes, car etc…are all mine because I bought and paid for them 😂😂😂

Hello I know you technically just did a video about this but, I wanted to know if you have ever heard of this “Gracia free edge gel.” I’ve been seeing the hyper realistic/ free edge gel nails and I’m curious and a little skeptical. I tried doing BGIAB for a natural look but that burned unexpectedly, after doing research. I thought they were similar to regular gel polish but I was wrong, and tutorials don’t really share that in videos. Sorry for the long comment I just wanted to know your expertise or if you’ve heard of it?

I just don’t know why this is a trend. If I want my nails to look “natural” I’ll leave them alone to grow, not polish them and let everyone see all the gardening dirt, food remains and cooking remnants under them, along with the cracks in the corner and uneven edges. I thought we were done with “pink and white” and boring natural, let alone long extensions that look yellowed. It’s a solid no thanks for me but to each his own.

i used to get acrylics for years and that's how i always get them done. i never liked the fake look and was unable to grow my natural nails so the only reason i got my nails done was to look like i could grow nails. i never used designs or polish or anything on them. always just white with the pink ontop.

What are those clips you use to keep the sidewalls down? I have a few clients with really high sidewalls and I saw it's like a paper clip you use to hold them down?

They do look natural for some people. For me no because my natural tips are more clear given that they are beautiful ❤
