Actually there were no sources that supports that claim it was because of seizures it was because they got rid of hyper sonic because they thought there were too many emeralds which is fucken stupid because dragon ball has the dragon balls and the super dragon balls while the sonic franchise had the chaos emeralds and the super emeralds and the master emerald so also more important information they said in an interview that hyper sonic was just a bonus for buying sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles also another thing tails was supposed to have a hyper form in the November 3rd 1993 sonic 3 prototype though the super form was unused but it still existed but they changed it because he was younger than sonic and knuckles so they made tails (inexperienced) with harnessing chaos energy so he needs to use super emeralds to obtain his first super form super tails also the hyper forms were supposed to have made a return in sonic mania in the games files the word hyper can be found in the same font as super used in the special stage screen when you get all of the emeralds "you can now play as super..." It would look like this " You can now play as hyper..." like and or comment if you thought this was helpful info.

The excuses they keep making up is getting on my nerves. They go from saying the sonic 3 and knuckles is non canon, to saying the form itself isn't canon, to saying seizures, to saying TOO MANY EMERALDS, to currently say to too many forms. It's clear to me that they DO NOT want the hyper transformations back. Heck they're was even data of hyper in sonic mania but the team were probably told to not add the hyper transformations in the game and got scrapped. If they don't wanna make the super emeralds canon fine, but at least have it as like a secret or something to unlock after completing the main game/story. But if they were to have them in stories again, have the chaos emeralds go through a ritual on angel island in the hidden palace where the master emerald can give the chaos emeralds there own super form.

I think the reason Hyper Sonic never returned is because he was never needed again, from a design standpoint. He existed to make sure the giant rings in the Sonic & Knuckles levels still had value even if you've already gotten Super Sonic. He's there to solve a design problem that was only there as a result of combining two games into one and letting you take your Emeralds from one to the other. Since that never really happened again, they didn't need to take away the Chaos Emeralds and make you do more special stages halfway through again, and so they didn't need Hyper Sonic again.

I loved Hyper Sonic because it felt like a true reward when you unlocked it and if you had never seen the form before it would really surprise you because up to that point the best you could do was Super Sonic. It also was better than Super Sonic so it wasn't like like a new skin only changing his appearance. It gave him new abilities and unlocked the true ending of the story. In my opinion, that is the perfect representation of why people loved Sonic 3 and Knuckles and why people are right in saying they never treated Sonic better. It really shows in the sales and popularity that came after. I think if they ever brought Hyper Sonic back they would be very surprised about the feedback they get.

Honestly in my mind the reason the hyper form flashes so rapidly is because at that point Sonic was to inexperienced with the chaos emeralds sure he was basically a prodigy with them but not to the extent to use hyper, and this reason could even be used to explain the flashing super forms the others have, and changing the design could be explained with the idea he can now more easily control it and it would in my opinion feel cooler as we see Sonic wielding a form better than last time we saw it, sorry for how fanficy this sounds.

Hyper Sonic was incredibly awesome. To me,that form was like Sonic reached God tier. You could say he may be UI Sonic. Then again,he was never used again because not many game developers remember him. And I don't consider Sonic's universe to be like Dragonball since nobody can fly and shoot energy and stuff. @@omni9387 Their official bullshit reason is that they never wanted to have Hyper Sonic at all. Instead, they wanted Super Sonic Heroes. But they couldn't get it to display all 3 Super characters at once properly, plus I'm pretty sure it would glitch the Knuckles fight, so Hyper Sonic was created as an alternative. Personally, I call complete BS. Iizuka is just a pussy. Christian Whitehead included a reference to the Super Emeralds in Lava Reef Zone where Knuckles fights Heavy King for the Master Emerald. There are Stone Relics that are left behind, after the Super Emeralds cracked open, and the current day version of the Chaos Emeralds came out. The Super Emeralds could still be awakened, but you need to be in close proximity to the Master Emerald to pull it off, and they don't really have time to go to Angel Island every time there's a new threat. However, Sonic Mania was indeed a missed opportunity. Christian Whitehead, who developed part of the game, said that he established that the Super Emeralds used to exist, but not anymore. Apparently, it's supposed to be a one-time form, but I don't think so. The Chaos Emeralds could easily just enlarge, like in Nazo Unleashed, to create Super Emeralds. However, all the powers that Hyper Sonic used to wield, like the Homing Attack that evolved from Hyper Flash, and the Boost ability, are now usable in Base or Super form, except breathing underwater. That's still restricted. Hyper Sonic is probably one of the most OP characters in fiction, simply because of his Reality Warping capabilities augmented by Hyper form. Chaos Control is already OP, but Hyper Chaos Control is HELLA OP!

I had always imagined that the hyper sonic transformation causes Sonic's hair to get a coating of some unknown metal only created by the super emeralds due to their immense heat and power combined with a massive absorption of particles from the air. And that these particles are used to form said metal that is extremely magnetic but has a magnetic field presumably controlled by sonic. As for the stars that fly around him, I imagined they too have a magnetic field, but that they are used to stabilize the main one on sonic so that it doesn't get out of control and end up destroying everything around him. And that when sonic does his second jump, those stars align in the shape of a ring while switching their polarity to north or south (whichever one is opposite of Sonic's) to pull him through, so that when sonic is going through them the stars switch to whatever polarity sonic is using, so that their conflicting polarities cause sonic to be propelled through it at an incredible velocity. So basically, I imagined hyper sonic is a walking rail gun.

In Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic 3 & Knuckles/Sonic 3 Complete, Super Sonic and Hyper Sonic's eyes are dark green. They are not supposed to be dark green. They are supposed to be black. In the 16-bit version of Sonic 2, after you get all 7 Chaos Emeralds, collect 50 or more rings and transform Sonic into Super Sonic, Sonic's eyes don't change color. They stay black. Sonic's eyes are not supposed to change color. Plus, in Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic 3 & Knuckles/Sonic 3 Complete, Super and Hyper Sonic's ending sprites have black eyes, not dark green eyes.

I think they should definitely reintroduce Hyper Sonic, because the movie has definitely brought in more fans, and they probably won't play all the original games, they'll stick with the more modern stuff, meaning that many might never even HEAR of Hyper. It's so sad that Sega's just single handedly ruining their own franchise.

Sonic had ALREADY gone down the DB ripoff rabbit hole with the Chaos Emeralds and Super Sonic. And the Eggmobile is a copy of Freeza's hoverpod. And it's not just DB; the Death Egg is a clear Death Star parody. And Sonic and friends jump into baddies and collect 100 shiny circles for another chance at life just like the heroes of their rival franchise. Why should Sega be so worried about being seen as unoriginal only some-odd years later?!

Hyper Sonic was without a doubt, the best transformation of Sonic, rivaling Super and Werehog Sonic. Hyper Sonic was a taste of going past the limit (Super Sonic). It felt worth it going through the process of collecting 7 Chaos Emeralds and 7 Super Emeralds to being godlike and unstoppable. All of this, and SEGA throws out one of the best things from Sonic 3 and from the franchise as a whole.

Fun Fact: Hyper Forms were planned to reappear in Sonic Mania as there's unused sprites of the word HYPER in the Special Stage Result screen spritesheet, as well as *Activated* Super Emerald graphics! Anyway, my thoughts on Hyper Sonic: Hyper Sonic is essentially Super Sonic's Super Form and I also see it having the same powers as Ultra Instinct, seeing that the after-images supposed to give the appearance of unbelievable speed and I believe that Hyper Sonic moves at (or close to) light speed. If the cracked Super Emeralds (in Sonic Mania) are anything to go by, I believe that due to the intense power and energy Hyper Sonic uses, the likely result was that he used up all the power of the Super Emeralds during the intense battle in The Doomsday Zone and when Hyper Sonic reverted back into his base form, that was the moment the Super Emeralds cracked, and from those cracks emerged the original, smaller Chaos Emeralds, reenergized and usable again.

Ik this is over a year old and I'm personally not a huge sonic fan I'm mostly here for nostalgia, but as someone who's played the original Sonic 3 and knuckles when years after it came out (I'm 14 now but I was 7 when I first played sonic 3 and knuckles) and it one of the first game I have ever played and whenever I hear some people talk about the new sonic games I always think back to hyper sonic and where he went?
