These are incredibly helpful tools. I retired in August but worked 33 years in a police/jail department. All the security screws for lock plates were painted over numerous times. I bought cases of right sized security screws and used my ridgid cut off to put lot in head, use flat head screw driver to remove then replace with unpainted security screws. Made for quick work. Thanks for video!

I’ve used that technique a few times myself, great tip. Thanks for watching.

@@wikimon pretty much except you can only use them to cut They're nice because they can make more precise cuts like a circular saw, especially the ones with the blade depth pieces like the Kobalt and Craftsman ones here.

The craftsman, red and black color aside, looks like the dewalt cut out which is reviewed well by a lot of youtubers. This is in line your overall results. Given the price of the craftsman though I would just do with dewalt since I have dewalt batteries already.

@@kutapio that makes sense, it looks like DeWalt to me too

The Hyper tough warranty doesn’t exist just fyi I used mine one time and it’s a month old and Walmart refused to replace it and the manufacturer warranty doesn’t cover anything but manufacturing defects and the button broke the first time I used mine.

Hey did you ever check if you had the old impact still?

I got the Kobalt during the holiday sales and am happy with the size of the tool. It’s very easy to handle and since I can’t seem to cut a straight line, I like the blade adjustment. However, the blades are trash. I ordered some blades that are multi-functional and with them, I expect the tool to become one of my favorites.

It was a great deal over the last month or two. Killer deals.

You should have added in the harbor freight 12v hercules cutoff tool. It's a sweet little tool also, and pretty budget friendly. I would be curious to see how it stacks up.

I actually use that one in the shop. I included in a video on my old channel (it’s my podcast channel now). Here’s the video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/apzTZIhjgaaDrtEsi=HTgun1wC0M7Oxu0K

Picked up tje Kobalt cut off at holidays when it was $99 with their case stack starter kit so that included 2ah and 4ah batteries with charger. Good review! If i didn't already own Kobalt would consider Craftsman as lots of tools and it's made by SBD just like Dewalt.

Dude, they had that tool box/ battery starter kit plus free tool for $79 on a one day deal! I was all over it. I’m not a rich man so I rely on watching deals for these videos and that one was killer.

Kobalt selling bare tools is a very recent development. I bought the mid torque this time last year and I don't think they sold any tools not in a kit
@samsuplee75285 күн бұрын
They sell quite a few bare. It's just drills/impacts or starter tools they sell kit only just to get you introduced to the lineup.

Check this out- I bought the Kobalt on a one day day and paid $79 for the tool, a toolbox and a two battery starter kit. It was a crazy good deal.

Nice test rig. HT really showed its ugly self. Light and cheap, checked, but it may not get the job done, now that's a problem. CM would be my choice out of three here. Power (kobalt) isn't always everything...
@zacksintheshop4 күн бұрын
I agree. Craftsman was a good fit and had enough power for me.

I have the Kobalt. It's great but those kobalt blades are terrible. Already broke two on simple jobs.
@zacksintheshop5 күн бұрын
Thanks for the heads up. I used those blades on each tool during testing (only because it came with 3).

Hyper tough blades are historically crap. Would be interesting to see how much better it could do with a decent blade.
@zacksintheshop4 күн бұрын
In this test it was using the Kobalt blades, although another commenter said those were pretty bad. One day I’ll make a video comparing blades.
