Here is an update on the new RTS game project now called Hyperwar. It is being made in the Unreal Engine 4 by a solo developer. Latest gameplay clips show the attack helicopter unit in action as well as many kinds of artillery units, formations, outposts as well as base building and radar settings, sound improvements, wall turrets, shields, army and base customization and and the coolest new feature a support cannon.

The fan favorite feature of RTS games, unit responses, has been added and even the overall volume of other sound elements will be lowered when they speak so that you can hear them better. There is a mix of voiceover actors for both unit and base callouts and notifications. The quality of all of these is excellent, at least to my ears, and I think you will approve too.
The developer has also integrated epic music by Scott Buckley into Hyperwar, which should help get it closer to its real time strategy game inspiration from Command and Conquer, Supreme Commander and Earth 2140!
To make this a triple sound fest, explosion sounds have been reworked and improved which you should be able to hear during this gameplay showcase especially with many of the new artillery units I have yet to show to you.
When it comes to non sound related news, the developer has created the save and load functions for Hyperwar which wasn’t easy as he told me considering all the elements he has added to the game now.
And those gameplay elements have come together in this latest and exclusive video clip I got straight for the developer himself to form a clear picture of the scale and scope of unit combat and base building in Hyperwar that you can expect to be able to play. I can only say I am very impressed with the visual and sound design as well as the combat mechanics with unit formations along with base building, resource collection, supply of ammo and energy among many other gameplay systems, some of which I will talk about more in this video.
Customization options, which you can save to new profiles and load them at will to use or change, are going to allow you to not only alter the paint job of your base and all the units, but their camo patterns as well, along with the flags flown by your buildings, as demonstrated here. All purely cosmetic of course, with no impact on unit stats or gameplay.

I grow old with Battle Realms, Warcraft TFT, Red alert, C&C & AOE. Tbh, Im hype for this to come out. Esp those realistic stuff aspect: Day&Night transition, Radar&Energy consumption, Fuel, Ammo, Scrap mechanics. Not to mention the projectile phisics. 11/10 will hype for this. Man.. I can see myself sitting for hours playing this game.

Beautiful game, i will definitely be getting it. New set up with old game fighting style. Graphics are good and game play as well. @@perafilozof It certainly looks cool and promising, but I am unsure if it would be my cup of cofee, I am not really into these modern militaristic games, Tempest Rising or Sanctuary for example are more up my alley. But that does not discount this guy's achievement, I mean, a single guy! Very good, props to him. And I really like the commander radar mechanic, if something similar would've been adapted for a more scifi themed game, I'd be very happy.

Hi and thx for the comment. Yes, indeed this game does have proper light of sight which is blocked by terrain elevation. Like you could see in this video and the clip about tanks shooting at walls instead of over them.

That's awesome. I'm actually doubly-impressed that it's "real" Line of Sight rather than "fake" Line of Sight (like Red Alert 2). Nothing wrong with the latter, but the former is a very exciting upgrade that could make some exciting dynamics that make stuff like height advantage more circumstantial than plainly decisive- the map could be sprinkled with bizarre terrain formations that could totally mess around defensive capabilities @@perafilozof

This game looks like what if you took Command & Conquer, Supreme Commander, and Warno, and blended them all together. The only thing missing in this game that I can see is infantry. Also, the original name, "Paths to Supremacy" sounds a lot better than "Hyperwar".

I do hope unit response sound would sound more similar to Desert of Kharak where each line sound professional with some radio and jammer effect can be heard across the field to build up immersion and seriousness of the battle instead of funny line like blizzard games.

Hi and thx for sharing your thoughts on this. An interesting view... I personally look at this game not as seriously as Homeworld which has a certain tone set for the whole franchise. And I totally enjoyed that myself in HW. I don't think the developer here is going for a full on lore and world building to such an extent. But who knows, I could be wrong by the time we play the final product.

I can't believe you missed some of the more iconic sound-bites from C&C Generals: The GLA/Rebels had some priceless quotes, though they may have aged a bit... poorly 😂 "Can I have some shoes?" / "Ow okay okay I'll work", or the... 😑 bomb-truck that would scream "ALALALALALALAH" as it sped straight into a crowd of US infantry soldiers before exploding... Also the Chinese Army VA's which were _very_ on the nose, and I'm almost certain they would've just used, like, American voice actors told to do a Chinese accent... 🙄 Actually yeah now I get why you probably skipped over those examples lol And let's not forget some of the Soviet VAs in Red Alert 2 😂

The thing is those lines and script went well back than. But it aged poorly in a highly polarized society of today. This is why Generals 2 wouldn't hit the same today, as any studio making it would be under fire once the first line was heard by the millions of social justice warriors online. Best we can hope is some indie developers doing it all under a pseudonym and taking the pubic Crucifixion which comes with such a game in stride, not caring about it.

Unreal Engine is at 5.3 while UE4 has been out for quite an while. But the main difference between them is the graphics and textures. Plus, UE5 is more optimized for an open world game. All things considered, Hyperwar looks pretty great in UE4
