One point I didn't see you mentioning is a hypnotic gaze victim cannot catch the ball!!!!! See p. 50 under resolve pass action : " If the ball lands in a square occupied by a Standing player THAT HAS NOT LOST HIS TACKLEZONE, that player must attempt to catch it, as described....". It allows to lock out runners that have infiltrated your backfield. In order to score they must first activate and run down towards the TDzone, making the pass harder as it will generally be further away. This is also confirmed on p. 26 where it specifies that a player that has lost their tackle zone cannot attempt to catch the ball.

Things I have learnt playing with Vampires 1. The sidelines are no longer safe, who would have thought you could surf a sidestepper. :) 2. stopping passing by hypnoing the catcher. 3. Vampires are very dice heavy, you can't always expect the perfect out come. 4. hypno as much as possible, remember your opponent has to physically active their players. So if they have forgotten to and they have a turn over those players that haven't been activated still have lost their tackle zones (and skills). 5. Big guy/Dwarf/skaven/skink/star player killer move = hypno then blitz with Varghiest, no block/dodge and then 8 on the amour roll. 6. Cage clearing. 7. think diagonally, you might be able to get through your opponents lines without needing to dodge if you hypno gaze someone and then others zigzag. 8. Best to have thrall support, save on the bloodlust and also they are there incase you have base Marked a greater strength player. 9. Hypno the guard player. 10. It doesn't have to always be the Vampires that have all the fun. If you have a thrall thats base marked an opponent with skills and have you have already used your blitz, run up with a vamp, hypno and then block with the thrall (just don't blood lust). Would love to hear any other cool ways of causing mayhem on the pitch :)

Honestly hypno gaze changes the game so much that you almost aren't playing blood bowl any more. When people are learning the game, tacke zones are everything , and I feel like being able to freely turn them off should be guarded behind a higher skill threshold. I worry that by buffing vamps so much that it will be worse for the game as a whole as many more experienced coaches will have vamp teams running around and newbie coaches will be able to grab them and have success. The buffs really start to stack up: +MV thralls, Bloodlust not causing the vamp to leave the field, 2+ instead of 3+ hypno gaze. I know that even with the buffs vamps will still sometimes eat their whole team, but I honestly wish there was more downsides to make it a rarer team, specifically for new coaches to meet or play. It almost doesn't feel like tier 2 anymore, and given how much it changes the game as a whole, I feel like they should play kinda like tomb kings. Deadly in the hands of an experienced coach, but pretty hard to use unless you invest time and practice into it. I would argue the same for Slann. Because they change the game so much (with pogo stick everywhere) they shouldn't be easy to play well.

Also block and dodge are super important parts of the game, and the ability to turn them off also fundamentally changes the game.

A 2+ dodge is like the bloodlust roll I suppose, but if you fail the bloodlust on the hypno you may end your turn, cool risk decisions

Have you done a TT on dodging out on a 3+, vs sticking around and taking a 2-die block? Vis-a-vis getting injured vs the slim chance of a double skull for the other guy.

In the case of the 2+ dodge to score, surely less dice is more better. A 2+ bloodlust followed by a 2+ dodge is better than a 2+ bloodlust followed by a 2+ hypnogaze and then a 2+ bloodlust and score, especially as either bloodlust could result in a turnover

That's really board dependant: - the 2+ bloodlust only turn you over if you don't have thrall to bite. - the 2+ hypnogaze will not turn you over on a failure never so you can still try your doge afterward. Look at it this way : Using hypnogaze: 1) you position a free thrall next to where you want to hypnogaze 2) you move on to hypnogaze. 3a) you succed hypnogaze and move freely (5/6 chance or 35/36 if you use reroll) 3b) you fail hypnogaze , you can try your doge (1/6 chance or 1/36 if you use reroll) If you don't use hypnogaze you just start strait at 3b. Basically using hypnogaze is just trying to doge for free with no consequence. Also if you hypnogazed a way yo the BC it might let you squiz in a thrall in case the blitzer fail his bloodlust. Assuming you have a way to bite a thrall in case of failed bloodlust with the hypnogazer that is a 0 risk play that is increasing your chance to succeed next play. Even if you can't move a thrall next to the target just having one somewhere on the field that can be bite without having to doge by the hypnogazer means that worst case scenario you forfait your hypnogaze and go back to dogging. Not saying that this will always be the best play but if blitzing this bc is your way to victory. Might as well give it as much chance as possible.

You did say a lot about what hypnogaze can do and why it is good. I 100% agree with you on this point. But you did not say anything about it's drawbacks: 1 leaving your vampire based with an opponent player, giving away a tackle. 2 forcing you into positions that might not be the best regarding pitch coverage / control It is very good to allow key play like cage diving and turning over to take place but hypnogazing just for the sake of it is not a good play. Especially with the runner, if i am giving away a block on my 100k st3 av8 no defensive skill player it might better be for a game changing play.

You talk about using Hypno Gaze in lieu of a dodge. However, once you use Hypno Gaze, that player's turn is over, so it can't be used to avoid dodging out of a tackle zone.
