The depth charge pond isn't a shortcut to LVL2 anymore. Tango trolled chat because he knows people can't help but yap. It leads to a deadend and treasure (Hypno knows this). The water elevator is for bringing wardens in to LVL3. The only shortcut you can take is dropping down through LVL3 but you still have to get back up.

It is, but it doesn’t happen *too* often (hypno getting unlucky like always). The way to fix it would be having an item sorter on every drop off, but that’s a lot of extra work and headache for tango

The mob switch deliberately isn't chunkloaded, so as a result if someone is coming from outside towards the nether hub, it won't be active and mobs can still spawn closer to the hub until the mob switch get loaded by the player

Also when you do go left, before going into the round ice room, try jumping along the wall on the right side when the water is down. 14:29 you have that white block and that diorite slab to hop on and maybe bypass the water into the circle room and home free.

7:51 Yeah, the Reckless Charge definitely proc'd from the shrieker that fired before the voice prompt happened. Partly because it takes a few seconds for clank to be registered by the system after a shrieker fires - as you can tell by the amount of time it takes to play the 'clank blocked' sound effect! And I'm sure you've picked up on this too, but there's a bit of delay on the card callouts - card effects seem to trigger about a couple seconds before the voice callout happens (depending on how complicated the redstone is of course haha) - it's most noticeable on cards that give beacon effects, like Loot 'n Scoot or Bounding Strides, because you can see exactly on your screen when the effect applies. (Which is also presumably why it seems like you should've managed to hit a shrieker just in time for Reckless Charge but it doesn't count it - because the redstone timer is actually starting earlier than you expect)

I also recall shrieker clank is on a separate redstone line from all other sources of clank like cards and artifact pickups, so it was certainly the shrieker.

I think callouts are a separate circuit, but there is a decoder for the callout where some cards are definitely slower to call out. It's not related to card redstone though. For Reckless Charge, tango set the timer to 3 seconds longer than the card says so that the callout has time to process. You can actually trigger it before the card is called by luck, though because of the redstone processing speed, hitting it right as before the timer expires would not count. Just as you said. That said, he definitely should increase the time again so that there is time to processed a delayed response on the other side as well.

@Emmulah proc is short hand for programmed random occurrence which is a fancy term to describe when some conditional or random chance event happens. Like in card games when you play a card that has a condition to trigger some effect or you have an item in a shooting game that gives you a 25% chance to deal extra damage. If the effect happens, you say you "proc'd that effect" In this case with Reckless Charge, proc'd means he was able to make the card effect happen by finding a shrieker in time. Another example would be in league of legends. If my champion has a 25% chance to critically strike, then when my character actually does do the critical strike damage, I would say "I proc'd critical strike" If this is still not clear then I can explain further! It's difficult to describe the general meaning in this short of a text.

I'm pretty sure another contributing factor to the apparent delay of card announcements is just that the announcement takes time to play; the music disc usually starts almost immediately after the card is activated, but it takes a few seconds to read out the card name

Just some thoughts: - Pretty sure picking up an artifact is instantly 4 Clank and not 3, unless that was nerfed, though when the random gong went off I still counted 4 clank block triggers - spending too much time on floor 1 to perfectly place ravagers has two risks: one, they'll just wander anyway. two, it causes more of your deck to be played which ultimately shortens the time you can spend picking up the artifact and escape. not that there's anything wrong with the strategic approach but there's merit in playing level 1 and level 2 more swiftly, especially if you want to get back down to level 3 - the first corridor to the campfire and berries seems to have 2 or 3 more shriekers now, which I haven't seen anyone comment about yet, as it was previously really quiet down that way. - that being said, given the amount of fish both in the water hole and in the depth charge location, and tango having said that killing the fish is fine (unless that was revoked), it might be time to properly consider the campfire fish fry meta - the random gong moments are really rough. given that there's no filtering at the drop off locations meaning dying monster drops can trigger those. - reckless charge also is nasty on when it can pick up your shrieker. I'm pretty sure the effect is in play like a second before the card sound plays, given the fact that you'll get your beacon effects like from loot n scoot just that moment ahead of time before the announcement. also it sometimes takes the game a really long time to process clank, so that could be messing the timing up too.

Reckless charge activated because there is delay between when the shrieker goes off and when clank gets added (or blocked). The card also plays before you hear the audio. (Like how you see beacon effects before the card audio). Those two combined means the shrieker you set off a few seconds before the card played actually counted. 😁👍

Hypno i feel like your analysis of the first death at the ice circle was not complete. U lured the ravager downstairs and ate berries on the way up. U left with 2 berries and not a lot of health. Instead u could use the 2 berries to retain 2 extra hearts which would make a single vex hit survivalable.

There are only two types of clank in the redstone but 3 in the game. There is a bus of redstone for card created clank and a bus of redstone for noise related clank. Noise related clank includes Shriekers and artifacts. That’s why reckless charge fired at 8:30

Ya know I was just thinking about how I might go about playing decked out (and this is just a suggestion/idea not trying to insist hypno do this) I think once I had enough extra crowns and decent deck I would buy 3 shards from the shop and and play 3 dead runs where my only focus is to try and learn and retain as many clank/shrieker spots in each level as I can. No focus on gathering treasure or even getting the artifact just learning shrieker locations. For me personally that knowledge would benefit me long term more than those 3 runs being played normally...after proof read this got long sorry thanks for coming to my Ted talk I guess lol

The mobswitch only works for 1-2 people, if more are in the area at the same time, mobs might spawn again as the mob cap increases with the player count.

​​@@Zedantic Active shriekers are set when the deck goes in. They do not change mid-game. A shrieker that is active in a run will always be active in that run and vice versa. The reason you can't re-trip a shrieker at a moments notice is because they have a 10 second cooldown which is why the card originally had a 10 second proc time. A shrieker will shriek for 4.5 seconds and cannot be retriggered for 5.5 seconds after the shrieking ends. Tango lowered the time of Reckless Charge because it was proving too easy to just camp a shrieker and wait for the card to play. The card needed to live up to its name by forcing a player to recklessly sprint through the dungeon and find a new active shrieker, not just camp a known shrieker, making the card be more suited for a name like "Camping Trip" or "Resting Large".

@@liamengram6326 shriekers can change at any time, because it’s just based on random ticks updating a sapling that can never grow. In fact, there are 2 saplings per, so there’s a 1/4 chance that any given shrieker will be active at any moment. They do tend to update infrequently, but it is totally random and unlinked to game state, just needing someone to be loading random tick chunks nearby. In fact, when you hear a piston unrelated to a hazard, there’s a good chance you just heard one of the sapling randomizers toggling.

@@liamengram6326 I don’t know what you’re talking about… there is an observer in front of each sapling, and there are two saplings per shrieker. You can see them clearly in Tango’s vods - there’s a module right outside his storage room. Besides, if the modules supposedly know whether the game is on or not, why are they only connected to the red line? The purple line is the game active line, and you would see it if it was needed for the modules. Red is only used for registering shrieker clank. The shrieker modules are all self contained systems with no inputs and one output.

Hard runs are pointless. The payout is nothing. Just do Deadly or stick to easy ones. The payout for hard isn't much higher than the lower option.

I mean...I've proven this wrong many times. People have been saying this since Phase 2 because they saw more 18-21 artifacts being pulled from Medium than 30-36 artifacts pulled from Hard. The problem is they are just looking at raw numbers and clearly don't grasp statistics. As of the 1,000th run there were 450 Medium Runs and 251 Hard runs. So of COURSE you would see more of the higher value artifacts pulled from Medium because there were 200 more runs, people tend to ignore all the Medium runs that pulled Papa's Slippers (10), Jar of Speedy Slime (11), Tome of the Hills (12), Death Loop (13), or Pearl of Cleansing (14) all of which can be gotten on Easy. They only notice bottom of the loot table artifacts on hard or above for some reason. Across 450 Medium runs, players averaged 13.7 embers on successful runs. Across 251 Hard runs, players have averaged 27.4 embers on successful runs. It isn't...even...close. In fact, it's exactly double which to me is a good sign of proper loot table balancing.
