I have been on Levothyroxine for 10 years & my blood test levels have been stable. I moved to a new state with new doctor. Had blood test 6 months ago. She wants to see me every 3 months in order to refill my prescription. This seems to me that she just wants the office visit fee. So frustrating.

I've been doing lots of research and not finding many detailed answers on exactly all the things that can cause hypothyroidism. If one hasn't had the causes you named, there must be other reasons? If I can figure out the cause, maybe I can help my condition.

Had nodules in which hurthle cells (benign) were found, so I had total thyroidectomy. I have Autonomic Nervous System Disorder. I was on 88mcg 6xweek and Dr. changed it to 100mcg daily. I had no appetite and ate small portions when I did eat, yet I gained 30lbs. I also had symptoms cited on this video. So I changed Dr., took new test and new Dr. changed prescription to 75mcg daily. I pulled up this video right after a phone call with my Dr. Look into ANS, you never know!

HELP ~ I am confused... I have been diagnosed as Hypothyroidism since 1988 and been taking 88 mcg of Levothyroxine for yr's... Recently I had my yearly lab work and Dr. appt... I was told I'm suddenly heading toward Hyperthyroidism.... But the only lab that is low is my TSH ( but over the yr's it fluctuates High to Low.) My T3 and T4 remain in the GOOD range.... My blood pressure and pulse is low NOT high... My weight hasn't moved more than a few Lb's in years over weight.. I do not have diarrhea. and I do have dry skin and hair... So my Dr. lowered my dosage to 75 mcg and now I am colder than usual / achy & tired... What am I missing that the Dr see's differently... Or what should I ask him to test besides the TSH / T3 & T4 ? ? ?

A normal level of vitamin D is absolutely necessary to stabilize your thyroid level either for hypo or hyper stages. Zinc, selenium, b Vitamins specially b12 should be taken and inflammatory foods to be avoided, specially sugar and fried food. Good sleep, normal exercise etc. will make sure that the fluctuations can be avoided. Bye

Hi, I live un the UK and just stumbled across your channel and love your succinct and friendly approach. Was at the hospital just yesterday, I have sarcoidis and yesterday the doctor told me I have hypothyroidism after getting blood tests back and I'm going to be starting on Levothyroxine 75mcg once daily. Was wondering if you think the Sarcoidosis could have caused the hypothyroidism as forgot to ask yesterday at hospital, many thanks?

Is there anything to fix it naturally? both my mom and sister have it and I have all the small physical symptoms: no moons on my fingers, extreme lines on hands, yellow feet, etc. (I mean all of them) and I want to see what I can do before I get a diagnosis because that may be hard. pt.2 I remember by sister saying sometimes your thyroid will appear completely normal on a screening and you need to catch it lacking with multiple tests. I think she did 3 over a number of months before I finally showed up on results thank you

Why is it dangerous to stop using it
@LevelUpRN

If you stop taking your thyroid medication, your thyroid levels can drop dangerously low, which can potentially lead to life-threatening complications.

Maintaining weight on 6 hours walk a day and a 1000 cals. I drink a lot of water. Doesnt look right. My definition is worsening have cut my intake further now. My heartrates 38bpm is that ok for a long distance walker. I may have higher calories up to 1500 not certain. Was anorexic. I am afraid i will lose my 6 pack. Gained 4 pounds last months on 30k steps daily. I like energy drinks. Seems body is retaining the extra fluid or something. I did lose my fitness before from the same thing whats wrong im considering cutting intake to 500 cals as i got cancer scare from increased fat gain as it had before. Another time i got osteoporosis. Fortunately that has been reversed to osteopenia. My calcium labs could be better but i can manage.
