This video compares the friction properties of Pro-Line Hyrax, Pro-Line Trencher and Pit Bull rock beast tires on different grounds. Tires tested include:
Pro-Line Hyrax G8 Rock, 1.9 inch, 45 mm x 120 mm
Pro-Line Trencher G8, 1.9 inch, 46 mm x 121 mm
Pit Bull RC, PB9011NK Rock Beast XL, 1.9 inch, 43 mm x 120 mm
Grounds tested include:
Carpet
Anti-slip (tape) surface
dry and wet grass
dry and wet stone
dry and wet tar
ice (frozen water)
Further information:
Sliding was performed with low speed only (0.5 - 2 cm/s)
The entire weight of the cart was about 4.17 kg, distributed over 4 wheels
In all tires we used the standard foam, as delivered by stock.
This is part 3 of a trilogy. Part 1 of this trilogy explains the basic aspects of stiction and friction and shows how to determine friction coefficients on different grounds. It also presents the construction of a frame that allows to attach different tires, load it with different weights, and finally measure friction (or stiction) forces on different grounds at different sliding speeds, see here: • How to Measure Frictio...
Part 2 compares the friction properties of five different sets of tires on different grounds and conditions. Tires tested include the AUSTAR AX-5020, TRAXXAS Trx-4 Defender (stock), MST CFX-W J45 (stock), Gmade MT 1903, and Pitbull RC, PB9011NK rock beast XL. Friction was tested on carpet, anti-slip (tape) surface, dry and wet grass, dry and wet stone, dry and wet tar, and ice (frozen water). Conditions were at different sliding speeds and loads. For more see here: • What is the most stick...
