In this video I get the oil pan and head put back on the 505 Cummins. I cover head gasket install tips and tricks and go thru the proper stepped torque followed by torque turn procedure. I also get some of the valvetrain stuff installed. It is starting to look like an engine again!

All I can say is I’ve never had that problem 🤷‍♂️. I was and I add still am a mechanic at 70 even though I’m all screwed up 10 in my neck and 14 in my back. And a novice machinist. I just putter mostly. That’s why I subscribed to your channel just recently. I love your big Monarch lathe! I really love watching Adam (Abom), mr. Pete, others too, and learning about machining. All I have is a small Logan 11” LeBlonde 15” top speed 500 rpm’s and a Bridgeport. It looks like you never take any time off from all the projects you have going on. Thanks

No doubt that's going to be in forklift and running before I am on the road (well legally)! Do you have those weird pre-heaters for cold starts on your intake manifold (ones that spray diesel and have an igniter)? If so are you keeping them?

New bolts is ideal, if this were a high powered build I would use new ones. Cummins sends a bolt stretch gauge if the bolts aren't stretched you can re use them supposedly. These aren't torqued to yield just torque turned.

@@steveschumacher5470 Granted it is a viscosity improver. However, we figured that if you could dip a flat blade screwdriver pointy end into STP and then you find out that you could not keep the screwdriver from slipping between your finger and thumb it had to be one terrific lubricant. Plus, we had experience with engines with zero oil pressure lasting long enough to get things shut down and suffer no damage because the engine had STP in it. Snake oil? Well, when it first came out we found that after putting it into an engine we would have to turn the idle back down a bit.
