Nice video well done. The one thing I suggest before installing the new axle is clean the grease mess from the broken boot around the transmission and add some high heat grease to the splines on both ends of the axle. This will help keep moisture which can cause excessive rust build up and easier to remove the next time.

The CV axle can be removed with only the sway bar link and knuckle joints taken out. Then I loosen the wheel speed sensor from the strut Tower. Lowering the a arm into my lap allows me to swing and push the shaft in and out towards the front. Speeds things up and you can still see and show people around. Oh and as prevent the sticking of the axle nut use a metric 32 or 34 socket I forget which

If I remember right, axles should be replaced every 80-100,000miles. I know it's been 2 years since your comment, but if you haven't replaced them, you should definitely by now

I would say change both but if you can afford only one just do the one that's bad and start saving for the other one

Yeah I just popped the knuckle bolt and the sway bar then lay the rotor arm in my lap and pull it out towards the front

You don’t have to disconnect the lower ball joint either just turn the wheel the other way

My Elantra makes clunking noises when shifting up the gears (6 spd. manual). Would that make the CV joints suspect?

@@alneal100 My experience with them has been they either make a clicking noise when they go out, or they hang up and clunk and make the car jump, like you just ran over a big bump. I've only replaced three, but they all did the same thing. Could be CV joints, could be in your transmission - hopefully just CV joints.
