The Hyundai i40 is big and bold, with sharp looks that have no problem turning heads. The car makes a stylish, practical choice for families - and thanks to its range of efficient engines is also a good-looking option for cash-conscious company car buyers. If you are looking to cut your motoring costs, bear in mind that the car's 1.7-litre diesel engine can do 62mpg, but remains powerful and responsive. The car is good to drive, too, and while it's not quite as composed on winding roads as a Ford Mondeo, it comes close. The six-speed manual gearbox is light to use and the interior is decent quality. Cars are generally well equipped -- and comforts such as air-conditioning, nine airbags for added safety, and reclining rear seats are offered as standard. Practical, cheap to run and good to drive, the Hyundai i40 is a fine car for you and all the family, whether you're on business or heading on holiday.

I had two as a taxi. We found them to be the most unreliable Taxis the fleet as ever used. Gave the the first one the benefit of the doubt but the second wad just as bad. There unreliability was so bad Hyundai dropped the i40 in 2019 after just 8 years. Be very careful if your buying one or any Korean car for that matter and don't listen to sites like this

I have one of these......have had it now two weeks. It is a brand new blue drive model, and I have to say as someone who has worked on and driven hundreds of cars I am so impressed with the build quality, the comfort, the level of equipment, and the amazing amount of room inside. Yes I know it is not the fastest car on the road, but if you want speed buy a sports car. I for one love this vehicle, and like the idea that it is unusual. Everywhere you look there are Fords, Vauxhalls, Audi's, etc, but very few i40's and I like that. It is nice to be different. And please.......do not criticise this car until you have driven one. Like me, I think you will be very pleasantly surprised......... Update after 9 months. Car has now done 13,000 miles and apart from a clutch niggle when the weather is really cold it has been a joy to drive. It is so nice to drive, and everyone who has ridden in it has commented on how nice it looks and how good the ride is. They are still quite rare, the estate version is more popular but I prefer my saloon. Do I have any regrets?........NO. I still love this car and would replace it with another one when the time comes.

I couldn't agree more Steve. I've just been given one of these cars yesterday as a courtesy car and I'm absolutely amazed at the way it drives, it's build quality and specification. It's better to drive and has a higher spec than our Vauxhall Astra "Elite" despite the i40 only being an "Active" trim model. I used to think Hyundai were cheap & nasty, I was so wrong....

My dad drives a i40 and to be honest, it is a very smooth car and glides along bumps on the road. Its engine is very silent so the interior is practically almost sound proof. The car is indeed spacious, there is more than enough legroom and headroom at the back and front. This is indeed a very improved car from Hyundai

In Australia the Elantra is sold alongside the i30 as "Small" cars (with i20 and Accent as "light" cars) and i40 Sedan (Saloon) and Tourer (Wagon) are sold with the i45 Sedan (Saloon) as medium sized cars. The i45, Accent and Elantra were designed primarily for American, Asian and general markets, where as the i20, i30 and i40 were designed for European tastes. :)

The bump in the floor in the back of cars is not a transmission tunnel, but a driveshaft tunnel. Any way this car does not have a driveshaft tunnel because it is front wheel drive. Tunnel is for exhaust pipes and other pipes and tubing.
@1958plymouth440V8
@1958plymouth440V8 11 жыл бұрын
Doesn't have to be a transmission, it can also be an exhaust. Having a hump in the floor can also help contribute to the overall stiffness and rigidity of a car's structure. :)

North Americans haven't liked estates/wagons since the '80s for some reason. It's a shame because I find German estate cars quite cool. Canada is a little better; there's a bigger market here for small hatches and estates, because, well, us Canadians are just cooler. :) I do believe they sell the A4 Avant in the States at least, but you very rarely see it.

My Cruze does 50 mpg and will leave the Hyundai at the lights (mine 2ltr diesel) and done it leaving rep who thought he was in a bmw lol. Also handling a bit floppy in fast roundabouts. Plastics on lower dash scratch if you look at them. Eco version tyres mega bucks.
