Thank you for the video :) What is the old battery connected to as you disconnect it from the car?
@VideoPajaa Жыл бұрын
I connected car connectors to the new 12V battery. Therefore car never loose 12V - just to be sure that I will not delete some car settings. Is better to use some spare 12V instead new one, because then is quite tricky part to remove clamps to add car connectors 😅

@@VideoPajaa do you know if it's possible to start the car with a dead 12V battery installed, if I connect a new battery to the old battery/car as you did?
@VideoPajaa Жыл бұрын
@@JaLLaM86 Yes this will work. Also jump starter work. EV needs just few amps to activate car - means also main battery and then car will start charging 12V. If 12V battery in car is dead, then after you will start car by help of other battery, then you may see that Heat Pump will not work - that due to low voltage in 12V battery. Once is 12V battery charged back to nominal voltage, all will work correctly.

Just replaced my battery with the proposed 12V Varta B23. However, my error messages remain (whole dash lighted up when the battery died). Any ideas of how to reset the car so it accepts that the 12V issue is fixed?

Try to disconnect 12V and main HV battery, wait 10min and connect them back.

@VideoPajaa thx, did it with the 12V, however not the HV battery. How do I safely disconnect that?

@@2crazydutchmen there are some YT videos how to disconnect HV battery, also on hyundai forum you can find some shop manuals

What is the size of the replacement battery? What is the BCI?

Hi, we do not have BCI standard here 😊. Here are dimensions for Varta B23 - L219, W135, H225 mm.

Interesting how the video SKIPS two two parts where the electrical clip is changed to the hookup.... How does one make that transition. It's a secret, lol.

Hi, If you mean time 4:58 - then the reason is simple. I needed more hands 🙂 so my son jumped in front of camera. So I just cut off this section 😇

@@VideoPajaa I was wondering if the switch is made with a less than 1 second pause, that the settings will not be lost, because perhaps there is enough capacitor stuff happening where the memory isn't interrupted. Also, *WOULD* the settings even be lost, I wonder. Perhaps it's all stored in non-volatile memory? And then lastly, how bad is it to loose settings? It's not like the keyfob stops working (I hope?). What settings are a pain to reprogram? I mean, why even bother when it might only take a moment to peruse through the settings.

@@Antiorganizer I did it always for all my cars, so I have no idea if keeping 12V is a need. Maybe it is just my overkill 😂

@@VideoPajaa Well, that was fun. Couldn't find a single battery with the 5 inch depth (front to back) that has a lip at the bottom. The slightly larger ones some have the lip on the front, but the 5 inch one doesn't. It means having to invent a hack to keep the battery in place.

How do you know that the big battery is charging the smaller battery from the dashboard i have a 2017 i pressed battery reset carried my battery to replace but i dont know if it was changed?
@VideoPajaa Жыл бұрын
At first the AUX. BATTERY SAVER+ must be active (in car setup) then the car is checking voltage on 12V battery - when voltage on 12V battery drops then car will activate charging 12V battery from main battery. During this process the blue diode on dashboard is flashing. BTW the AUX. BATTERY SAVER+ activates maximum of 60 minutes. If the function activates more than 10 times consecutively when in the automatic mode, the function will stop activating, judging that there is a problem with the 12V battery.

@@VideoPajaa Ah, so it is not necessary to turn off any fuse or something? I was afraid that if DC-DC converter kicks in to charge when there is no battery, there will be some damage. The battery solution to Hyundai is poor, I guess that many people will change to LiFePO4 if they can afford it. In cold climates you need version with heat foil, so there is some complication, but lead acid is really poor solution, it fails all the time. Thanks for good video to show how we can replace the battery. :-)

@@thomashenden71 Well it is always on your own risk. In manual is written that HV fuse should be turn off in any car service. But when you will keep 12V live with second battery, car will not recognize that something is happening 😃
