A lot of people insert magnets into their phone cases to easily mount and dismount their phone on their dash… it’s so funny to me that every review of this car doesn’t understand the brilliance of the magnet on the dash.

@@TaylorOwen The heck does this have to do with experience? We're not talking about dash-mounted magnets sold as consumer products which you install yourself. We're talking about the magnet in the Ioniq 5 and whether it can hold your phone. So unless you have an Ioniq 5 I don't think you're speaking from experience. I'm saying if anyone is wondering whether the magnet in the Ioniq is strong enough to hold a phone - there's literally a youtube video showing that it cannot. Where exactly did you see the Ioniq 5 magnet support a phone?? Or are you assuming that it does?

Is the styling really marmite on the Ioniq 5? I thought almost everyone loved it - I certainly do. One of very few cars in production that would interest me purely on styling, but the technology and engineering are hugely impressive too. The one thing that Hyundai's EVs haven't really nailed yet is fun driving. Hopefully the N version fixes that - or maybe it's just not a reasonable expectation for a mid-price crossover.

I like this quirky design so much I’ve already ordered a Project 45 first edition, which was the version you were reviewing. I really love the interior design and, contrary to some of the comments, I think this looks futuristic enough to stand the test of time. I certainly hope so, as I intend to keep mine for several years. Anyway, loved Ginny’s review, especially the in-car nap…!! Now, where’s my kitten eye mask and duvet………..

I only had very few cars in my life with rear wiper and I almost never used it, but it was ugly all the time. My last 3 cars didn't have one and it was perfect like this. Plus it adds some air drag which is bad. If you are in a place where it rains all the time, try water repealant, it's just great and you will barely use the front wiper either. It's the best way to deal with windows.

Yep I really think that we should put some wiper on every window. Including sides because it's so difficult to look at the mirrors when it's raining. Actually no, we should have only screens all around, this way no need to clean it up, no sun or rain problem. And if the view is ugly it could be enhanced. Waiting for that I will buy a car with a digital central panoramic rear mirror,

My parking space is tiny and the driver's side door is very close to the wall, so I usually enter and exit from the passenger side, like she did here. I have an ID3 and it's pretty easy to do, although it's not completely open like the Ionic 5. At least there's no gear lever to stick up my bum.

Trying to compare with Tesla M3 or MY. Tesla great job, max speed, range especially. Still prefer, being in Europe, comfort. 99% of my trips are within 200kms one way. In southern climate or summer, I do WANT ventilated seats. Also Android Auto, and HUD. Also like reclining seats with foot rest and reclining console for arms rest, all electronic aids especially against collisions, automated parking (Executive version), blind spot cams on dashboard when turning, V2L, sun shades integrated in back doors, sunroof shade, wide space available inside with good visibility through the back window etc. Also 5 year car warranty illimited kms (Max 80 000 for Tesla... Reliability issues?), and 8 year battery warranty (same as Tesla).

Clearly aimed at the quiet and refined limo-like market. That will suit lots of people. The price of the top spec 4wd big battery with the option packs is circa £48,000 - that's about £20,000 less than an equivalent Audi Q4 e-tron Vorsprung edition, and even several thousand under a top spec VW id4 and neither of those has the super fast 800v charging system. This Hyundai and the Kia EV6 look like a very appealing prospect with their 5yr and 7yr warranties as standard.

I had high hopes for the new Hyundai and Kia EVs but this is disappointing. Poorer efficiency than the Ioniq Electric, Kona, Soul and e-Niro. Heat pump still not standard. Hyundai seem to be going backwards. Only thing that's moved their tech on is the 800V charging which is only usable if you can use one of the 18 350kW chargepoints in the UK. Lets hope the Kia EV6 is better but as its on the same E-GMP platform I doubt it.
@Lewis_Standing
@Lewis_Standing 3 жыл бұрын
It's a bigger model, it's heavier therefore efficiency is less. That's the individual car design floor not the platform. They've made big models because they're popular and will sell. The underlying battery and motor will be equally efficient. My 2020 kona came with the heat pump as standard but they've tried to reduce base prices for example to get into the new UK grant segment. The 800v future proofs the car for rapid charging on long journeys where the huge range needs replenishing quickly. Now if they bring out a smaller EGMP based car with lower efficiency then you have a point.

Delorean looks much more slimmer and more dynamic. IONIQ5 is abit on the fat side like most new e-cars nowadays.

Oh my goodness, Ginny...! I am genuinely shocked...! No... No... not with your singing... Though, now I mention it... Sorry, no, I digress... ;-) No, what I'm actually shocked about is that you're the first reviewer I've seen for this car not to have fallen madly in love with its looks.

I don’t like the creases down the doors, really spoils the look of the car? The wheel design is eye-catching, but a real dirt trap in a practical sense

It looks great like the best Italian hatchbacks of old times - only its huge - it's a big car - if you need this space it's great. The interior is....not my taste, it looks to me that they put all design power to the outside, for the inside was nothing left.

Cool review - funny and very cool. I have bought it already here in Germany. Same color, but without Relax seats, because it loads energy to fast.

Well someone should tell her that if she wants the wheels to 'match' the wheel arches, they couldn't swap them from one side to the other, as recommendced, to even out tyre wear.

Yes, less is more. If it was just 10% smaller and with 50% less unnecessarily fiddly detailing it would be perfect. For those who like the fiddly detailing you can apparently add more of it, including decals down the side as a dealer option!
