I have a bottom of the Barrel ( nearly bottom ) 2019 Hyundai Elantra GT N line with a MT which is NOT ACTUALLY an Elantra but rather the European I30 with a mere 200hp from 1.6T with a suspension Designed from the Head of BMWS M DIVISION and with incentives i paid 20K ( msrp 24 ish) . It's a Hatch that was discontinued because Americans are screaming idiots in regards to car buying . Hyundai took the much better and more advanced 130 platform that Europeans and Austrailia appreciate and gave it a more name recognized name for an amazing price and NOBODY BOUGHT IT ! SO discontinued . It was the VERY LAST affordable practical , well designed car that is not soul crushing that was offered in US pre Covid Tax / Raising of prices of cars / devaluation of money and general increase in complexity and avg car pricing along with big 3 getting completely out of market trying to sell NON SUV cars in U.S and ceding that market to Koreans and Japanese although Japanese don't tend to give as much per $ and its well established that an Actual N car Is more fun to drive then the very good Toyota Civic R that is in fact very expensive . My CAR Is considered a warm hatch due to having only 201 Hp ( 0 -60 in 6s ) with no LSD like the more expensive but similar in many ways Civic Si which was not availible in hatch at time. Even with that it Is a hoot to drive as a 20k car and comes with MICHELIN PS4S tires that along with M CAR DESIGNERS IRS suspension and tweaks is a great car for what it is and handles and responds amazing when factoring cost for a basic sporty hatch . If it had an LSD it would be beyond awesome but PRICE is price and still more fun then anything that practical with a mere 200hp and good MPGS on 87 when driving normal . Point is that Hyundai knows how to build hatches as well as fun sedans and stupid performance CUVs under the N performance brands that are more affordable and accessible to more people . All journalists like them . Civics may be better on certain levels but you pay for Hondas so it evens out. This car is in fact a very sweet spot for people who want OVERKILL EV performance in a sport hatch . Not inexpensive in reality but in relative terms yes . Hopefully Americans with money will pull there asses from heads and see how cool this concept of a car Is for a fun car , I think they will . The Koreans are making huge efforts in most ways to catch up and surpass in many ways other brands and making steady strides and only getting better . Pricing reflects that but increasingly good choices and having owned 2 hyundais they have some great aspects. Nobody bought the best value hidden little gem and lost out . But knowing how good my car is despite not being designed to GREAT BUT awesome for price i know this will be the coolest performance hatch to get for a while and super fun. It will be way more performance and practicality plus fun then anything around and in N trim looks cool . Hyundai is going for it . If I had more money I would be on the list for one.. knowing how good my car is for what it is and how much better the proper N is cars are this will be a very fun neat EV that is not a tesla and an animal for a hatch .

Inspection showed a scratch down a side of the battery cover but a plug in the cover showed that it may have hit the battery pack. Mind you, the car continued to work normally. Without investigation to actual damage, the dealer said the battery pack must be replaced and it's not under warranty. That'll be $61,500 Canadian, thank you. The insurance company totaled the car, and his insurance rates will likely go up 50%. I can understand condemning the battery pack. After all, if they didn't and suddenly it bursts into flames, there would be a legal mess.
