The limited just has so many "must haves" to deny. If you can afford it, it's a no brainer. The other trims will get you from A-B but the limited just looks so much better and has the wanted features.

Those chargers kind of look familiar... The outdoor review of the Limited was shot at the new(ish) EA chargers about 2 miles from my house. I remember that 70 degree day; the next day it was in the 30's. Yes, the Limited is definitely the way to go. The roof really changes the car, and the heads up display is transformative. However, after test driving both the Ioniq 5 and the sibling Kia EV6, the Kia's handling is much more to my liking. I'm shopping around for one now.

A super comparison of the three models! Thank you so much. One issue no one has covered is the necessity of AWD for winter driving. I have had a front engine, front wheel drive vehicle for years and have had no problems with NE Ohio winter. Is an AWD EV really necessary under these circumstances? With a rear wheel drive only configuration you would be saving money on the purchase price, reduce the vehicle’s weight and complexity and not have to give up the range - considerable in some cases - of AWD . Any thoughts on this by anyone? Thank you
@dconner92 жыл бұрын
Agree you would most likely be fine with RWD; especially since the motor sits over the rear axle. You would however be giving up more power; although I have driven the RWD and it seemed fine to me from a performance perspective. You will also lose the heat pump which could hurt range in the Winter months. Thanks for watching!
@moonsapling Жыл бұрын
If you dont plan on going offroading (which this vehicle isnt made for) RWD is all you need. It has absolutely enough power to travel comfortably and the money you save on AWD you can spend on good tires. Also dont forget the fact that the electric motor sits on the rear axle and combined with very precise traction control and good tires I highly doubt you will have any issues even in snow. A friend of mine has a Ioniq 5 Long Range RWD, he has winter tires on jt and it had no trouble climbing to the ski resort unlike some AWD SUVs with bad tires which struggled to get through what we did. If you dont need 300hp then you wont miss the AWD. It acts like RWD 99% of the time anyways.

What also gets me about these cars with a big pano glass roof is they don't open here N. AMERICA but I seen in a Phillipines video the Id.4 roof opens. I want an open roof why pay for glass hot box and it doesn't open for $1-$2k extra. Also why they give Asia an open roof and US fixed glass when Asians constantly have monsoon downpour rains is beyond me. 🤣🤣Give us all open roofs not everyone has to be another Tesla. I was thinking the same it’s the ladder effect. 🤔🤔🤔I’ll go SE wait I can get the SEL for 3k more but then again I can get the limited for 3k more but wait I can get a Tesla for 61k Funny how our minds work and pockets get bigger with each step. The bummer for me was it’s expensive to insure and most importantly it won’t be available as of now until Jan 2023.

Does it make a big difference on headroom with the glassroof for taller drivers?

Don't know if it's mentioned in these comments. Limited will turn down the drivers seat into what they call gravity. Does those adjustments you did, automatically.

I'm having thoughts of cancelling my Tesla Model Y order to get the Ionoq 5. How are the seats for comfort? I hear the Tesla has very good seats but the ride is stiff.

Do any of the trims have fog lights? Which trim would be best in fog?

Heads up display, I love how that's a big deal again. My 2001 grand Prix GTP had it. FYI windshield that have that tend to cost 3+times the amount to replace bc a special coating, well back then they did

The "Limited" must stand for Limited Availability if they're producing so few of the Limited model trims 😐

Can somebody tell me how to order Hyundai Ioniq5? I am in Dallas TX and almost no Hyundai dealer has it so I won't be able to test drive it. But it seems I cannot even order from them. Option is to go around 250 miles to pick up what you are looking for? Second question, how much range one is loosing for going from RWD to AWD?

A note. Your paying an extra $6k+ in mark up at your local Hyundai dealer....comparing price with Tesla....

I am on the pre-order list...and I can say I am VERY disappointed with my local dealership. They are marking up all Ioniq 5 models $10k. Ludicrous.

Shop around; if you are willing to travel, I am quite confident you will be able to find many SE and SEL’s at MSRP; and perhaps a few limited models as well. Last I checked, Hyundai 112 on Long Island is MSRP with a $175 doc fee and no dealer prep as an example. Good luck to you and start calling around! It’s a great car

Shows their integrity. I walked away from one that was asking 5k over. They called me 2 hours later to say they will take it down 1k and I sent him a picture of the invoice of the SE I bought at msrp.

No one answers my questions, when can I get one in the State of Virginia. I called the dealers and they tell me not available.

SE RWD for the win.

I’m thinking Limited RWD: Range, glass roof, HUD, and ventilated seats. (That is, if Limited is even available in RWD…?) But also wait a couple years for dealers to stop marking them up by … what? $5K? Not interested in the matte paint and the sub, personally. Heat pump: gotta have it!

@@mr88cet It appears that most of the AWD drive cars are destined for the northern states, and the RWD cars are mostly sent to the southern states. You can find a few AWDs in the south and a few RWDs in the north, but they're rarer. It may be worth travelling or having a car shipped to get what you want. You may also want to do a little travelling or have the car shipped in order to save a little (or a lot) of money. A lot of dealers are charging insultingly high markups above MSRP (10K+ is not unheard of), but it is possible to get the Ioniq 5 or the EV 6 at MSRP if you shop around a bit and are flexible regarding where you're willing to purchase. I live in the NYC suburbs where the second part of this video was shot, and the dealers around here want between 3K to 6K above MSRP. I can drive an hour or two out to Long Island or north to Albany and get either car at MSRP. Do your homework and call around. It is possible to get these cars at MSRP. It's somewhat harder to get the exact choice of colors, however.

@@michaelgoetz7506, excellent info, thanks! I’m in Austin TX, so I might find it easier to get RWD. Cool!

@@mr88cet My sister's in McAllen, and there's definitely a lot fewer dealers near her. I advised her to get the RWD version since chargers are far between down there and the extra range may be useful.

@@mr88cet Q: stop marking them up by … what? $5K? A: worse upwards of $20K and $30K, but of course if you listen to the teenagers tell it (hint, disconnected from the real word and not yet living as TRUE adults) battery technology and EV vehicles as whole are supposedly going to "get cheaper" in the near future. Phil's response: ok when...? and this has been my question going back to 2020 and the arrival of the GLOBAL PANDEMIC, and before the onset of WW3 in Ukraine.
