I bought the launch edition of this car 18 months ago. I´ve clocked 40000 kms so far. One of the best cars I have owned. Great value for this price in India. I wouldn´t think twice to buy it if I´m looking for an electric car. It'll give 500kms range easily in Indian conditions (highways)

@@theacechip Not in where I live. Roads are good and I have very good roadside assistance included in my insurance (they will basically come and fix it within 30 minutes. I am not sure about India and I dont have any experience using the tire repair kit in cars.

@@Zesty_Soul Read my comments carefully. I didn´t say anywhere that it's the perfect car for Indian conditions. I said it´s a great value car for the price in India if you are considering electric. I live in Europe, so I can´t comment about the lack of spare wheels and it´s impact india. In the past ten years we had to use only once the spare wheel in our parent's Honda in India. That´s my only experience.

My mom had a 2016 Kia Optima and the engine caught fire on the highway driving to p.a from nyc and they told her it was her they couldn’t pay cuz it was to much damage to determine where the fire started even tho that engine was recalled and they gave it back to her a few weeks before saying it was fine

Some of the misses: 1) Rear seat ventilation; 2) AWD option; 3) No spare tire option (important if it needs to become your only car also for highway use); 4) Ground clearance to be at least 15-20 mm more; and 5) The option/availability of the more powerful 77.4 kWh battery pack.

Car looks amazing and all, and I definitely can't afford it yet. But who tf at Hyundai decided to give white bezels to that display? I just don't get this. Displays (almost) all over the world get black bezels for a reason. Even If I could afford it, every time I would get inside, those big bezels would remind me of where I spent those 45 lakhs. I know they fixed it in Ioniq 6, but still they should not have put those white bezels in ioniq 5 in the first place, specially when it costs that much. Rant over.

Great car and more importantly, a great review by Nikhil. This guy never disappoints whenever he is on the screen. Most importantly, he explicitly calls out the things he didn't like or thought to be told. Renuka could learn a bit or two from him. A reviewer concerned more about his viewers than the corporates always strikes the cord with the audience better than anyone else. Autocar should bring more reviews by Nikhil. This person is a treat to watch on YoutTube when it comes to automobiles.

Real range is even lower unfortunately. If you use the 400 HP on highways, expect to see sub 200 KM range. I have test driven it. Other points are true.

@@shyampsunder2003 Generally I tend to discount around 125 kms from the claimed range when it’s an EV so since it’s 418 kms in the test cycle it should give 300 in the real world at least when driven nicely

@@bloodorwater discount should be in terms of percentage of KMs and not fixed KMs. I extensively test drove both the XC40 and MG ZS EV and bought the ZS EV. For my trips I only assume 50% of the ARAI range because I drive with a heavy right foot. Others in community get upto 70%

Question: Why is there no mention of any comparison with the Atto 3. That has 201 bhp and almost all the features of Ioniq 5 but is 10-12 lakhs cheaper? 45L price tag appears too steep. Kia EV6 pricing is still understandable as it is an AWD and much more powerful but this is a RWD with almost the same power as Atto 3. I dont understand the premiumization.

Not so sure if all the above points justify a 33% premium ... after all BYD may be a new entrant in India but it is the largest selling EV co in the world, selling more than double of Tesla (so much that Tesla imports BYD's battery technology) ..... also, there is no way on the planet that Hyundai and Kia can command any kind of brand premium ... they are no Merc or Porsche or BMW so that part is out of question ... personal view: people should pick the BYD Atto 3 over the Ioniq 5 anyday!!

Make what you will. An on- road price would be nothing short of 55 lakhs. With current electric charging infrastructure with limited fast charging and most of the energy produced in India is with Coal, there is no carbon offset.I am not sure where I am saving going electric. Surely not the planet or my pocket.

Great car but I'm surprised that Hyundai launched the Ionic 5 & not the Palisade. An electric car at almost 50 lacs vs a full size 6 seat SUV capable of giving the Fortuner a run for its money. My money is on the Palisade..

If one is spending this much money it's better to buy a BMW i4, at least it's a well engineered car. @2:23 who even does an extremely awkward white thick Bessel for the screen, @12:36 these clearly show the lack of experience (that is a basic ergonomics a car need) and poor engineering of a car. For an enthusiast, Hyundai's steering feel and feedback is a disaster. So I wouldn't consider this if I have a 50 lakh budget.

When it comes to ev, Hyundai is more premium than any cars except Tesla. Also only Hyundai has V2L and 18m charging. Hyundai is EV of the year and Kia is faster than Bmw. Ioniq6 is the longeset range in the world in that segment.

@@38djw8swj It's not about the fastest, efficient... it's about the comfort, convenience, drivability. These are the most basic things, if a car doesn't provide these fundamentals things, it's a proper waste no matter what all specs and features it offer. Like I said you can clearly see, (from the timestamp I mentioned above) the basic ergonomic flaws which can irritate you in a daily drive which cannot be tolerated for a 50 lakh car.

Problem with EVs, is their resale value. An average chacha from a village knows batteries degrade overtime. 45 lakh you invest, after 2 years of regular use, battery might come down below 80 percent health. Goodluck finding a buyer. And if you keep for 5+ years, boom, that car turns into a tin can, no use for you, no use for anyone else. 45 lakh, gone. No resale. Yes, there is battery warranty, replacement schemes from certain companies, but that will change when EV becomes mainstream. This is such a detrimental direction for the automobile industry. And dont even start about the mining of battery resources. There isn't enough nickel and cobalt and lithium in the planet for a road full of EV.

Lol. You have no idea buddy. Why would any manufacturer give 8 or 10 year battery warranty if the battery is gone in 5 years? These batteries will last longer than the life of the car itself. Same🍕🍔 journalists when MNCs' EVs This offers ARAI claimed range of 600+km, which is true. (Bcz it's not Indian brand) this offers white plush premium looking interior theme which increases ambience.
