I lease one for £340 a month average over 2 years 12k/yr miles. With Octopus it's less than 1.2p/mile to run. It's definitely got an Uber vibe to it but is saving me a fortune. I'd definitely get another Hyundai/Kia though. It's been faultless and the app is brilliant. More power and range for my next lease.

Hi, Not sure if you’ll see this as your comment was ages ago. Are you still happy with the car, and may I ask, what’s your average mileage per kWh in the real world? In my BMW 330e the in car display always estimates 25% higher than real world performance. Real world is 2.5miles/kWh. I’m considering the Ioniq next and hoping it may be nearer 4. Thank you!
@esm7708
@esm7708 3 жыл бұрын
@@ezrolith85 rolling average after 18 months is 4.5mile/kWh. Expect 150mile range at worst and 175 mile at best. Looking at lease prices I'd recommend you get the long range Kona or Soul. Loads more range, similar equipment level, much better fast charging and not hugely more per month.

@@Ifyoudonttakeitucantfakeit I'd like a Model Y and I love what Tesla have achieved. I do worry about how quickly they've done it. I'm not a big fan of the big screen, I'd prefer a traditional dash board. Hyundai have some great new models coming soon. My Ioniq can run at up to 6 miles per kWh which is amazing.

@@Ifyoudonttakeitucantfakeit Ioniq is more efficient than any Tesla. In fact is the most efficient EV on the market. Efficiency is not how long it goes , but how much power /100km or miles consume. Ioniq can do even in the winter 9kwh /100 km. A tesla will never reach that number.

Ioniq is a seriously underrated car and a hidden gem. The issue with the 2020 38kWh version is the low DC charging speed . Hyundai reduced the charging speed ( because of lower pack voltage) as compared to the 28kWh version. That is a step backwards.

I feel very smug driving my Ioniq 38kwh for the last 4 years, it costs me £216 a year in home charging (I used to spend £1350 a year on diesel for the same mileage). 193 miles is plenty for me, I only use public charging about twice a year and never had a problem charging. I have not had any repairs to do. The brake pads will last well past July when the car is returned, I will probably have to replace the 2 front tyres. Only get an electric car if, you can charge at a domestic tariff, preferably at home. And, you like the idea and can manage by waking every morning with a car with 200 miles of fuel in it. Whatever you drive, be safe.

I agree with just about everything. That's why I bought my Ioniq electric. I would like to add that many fast cars do not benefit at all from their speed as they also have to adapt to the surrounding traffic. In other words, in traffic, my Ioniq goes as fast as the fastest Tesla... to a much lower price.

I purchased a 2017 model earlier in the year and love it. The maximum speed in New Zealand is 100kmph so it really doesn't matter what a vehicles top speed is.

@@stephenholland5930 if tou have a 40l bucket and a 50l bucket the 50l will take longer to fill if you fill it from the same tap. Here in New Zealand the fast chargers are all 50kw so the time to charge is a function of battery size. What I do like is having options on where I charge, at home via my domestic supply, the 50kw fast chargers at a cost of around $6 taking about 20 minutes, or the 22kw chargers which take longer but are free and can charge to 100% of capacity.
@Moore30
@Moore30 3 жыл бұрын
@@iallso1 It's not that simple Ian. The gen2 car charges at a slower RATE than the gen1. Of course it takes longer to fill from empty but adding 20kW in a gen2 takes longer than adding 20kW in a gen1. I haven't seen any reasonable explanation as to why.

I don't get your comment about "real world" range. You say the quoted range is 193 miles but you calculated that to be 160 miles real world. I've had my Ioniq for about 6 weeks now and I get around or slightly above the 311km stated range (Australia). 311km equals 193 miles. So why are you losing nearly 20% of the range but I am getting as much as 10% MORE?

Hyundai Sued Over Electric Vehicle Battery Fires Roughly 200 individuals are seeking compensation, and GM has issued a recall of 70,000 vehicles with similar batteries. Hyundai Kona vehicles outside dealership Some 200 individuals have issued a class action lawsuit against South Korean automaker Hyundai over a string of battery fires in their electric vehicles (EVs). One of the plaintiffs, a Hyundai Kona EV owner who asked to be identified only by his surname Kim, was among those seeking compensation from Hyundai for what they believe to be the reduced value of their EVs and other losses. The plaintiffs also want the company to replace the Kona EVs’ entire battery pack, not just update the software, as Hyundai’s recall provides; the battery is by far the most expensive part of the vehicle.

Non-plugin hybrids have a very small battery, just enough for accelerating you from a full stop, which costs a lot of fuel. They don't add much weight and are therefore a more economic petrol car than a regular petrol car.
