Love the video bob. It's true though every second car now on the road is a Tuscon. It's chunky it looks great it's cheap and I'm sure they'll sell loads. It's nice to see a review showing the boot as lots of the SUV type cars don't even show pictures. Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing you on the far side. Darren.

Great review as always. I have had two ix35s and can confirm that so far there has been no need to use the 5 year warranty. Great reliability and after almost 3 years motoring my ix35 has retained 50% of its purchase value. Thats pretty good. Tucson would be the next step up.

While driving the 1.7 CRDI 116ps did you find it a bit sluggish for the size of the chassis, would the 2.0 CRDI 136ps be a better choice.

great review Bob. lovely looking Car. re the warranty, it's a bit of weird state of affairs as they advertise unlimited mileage but the clutch is only covered to 20k. some items are only coverd to 20k I believe. a fellow taxi driver I know took Hyundai to court and won because of his clutch after Hyundai refused to cover it.

Damn that looks lovely in white from the front, im downgrading from my mustang ecoboost to an suv in couple of years an thinking between the hyundai tucson and the kia sportage, hyundai looks beautiful especially in white, might get one of these 👍👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hi Bob just picked up a new Kia Sorento Platinum. Designed by the old Audi designer, I moved from a BMW 5 series m sport and it feels every bit as good. Every button and feature. Amazing value and 7 year warranty. Maybe do a review sometime be great to see what u thought. I managed to get my 2wd for €37k. Just if someone was going to spend 35k on the Tucson as I was, then I drove the Sorento and it's a different level and not much price wise. Keep up the reviews 👍

Chrome is usually a bit tacky alright, it's usually the French cars that apply more chrome when they want the car to look better.

When you said that the Hyundai Tucson was the top selling car, I was sure you had omitted to qualify that with 'in the SUV class', but sure enough, a quick google confirms that it was / is the top seller of all classes of car in Ireland, amazing. Good value it may be, but it is still a serious wedge of money, either to buy or take out on contract, where on earth are so many folk getting all the money from?

+GaffStraid the next credit bubble has been happening for the last few years and it's in the car market. Germany and France has been flooding the market in Ireland with cheap credit, we'll see over the next few years if the gamble pays off

Im sure these are great but there South Korean rival the SsangYong XLV 24,750 euro or SsangYong Korando from 25,995 euro. They have the same spec but there warranty is better. .

Compass in the mirror. Not a big selling point. What about boot space,rear passenger space,do the rear seats fold flat,could you fit two dogs in the boot?? Bit slack there Bob!!

Hate the sight of any of these type cars, but the soccer moms want them so their little angles will be safe, unfortunately for other road users they cannot park them because of the size, which is evident outside any school supermarket.

Bob Flavin Not specifically speaking about the Hyundai it is a beautiful looking car actually, I am talking about these type of cars in general SUVs Kia Sportage ,Nissan Qashqai and the likes, just bugs me they (soccer moms) can't manage them just buy a Golf, so you can park the bloody thing.

I crinch everytime I see one on the road which is regular, often see 2 at a time! I always think its become the default mode for the unimaginative unambitious mundane irish punter, new car......buy a golf or a Tucson. I'd actually happier buy a Kadjar, Ateca or Kuga as they are nicer to look at, it shows you don't just run with the pack and surely the resale values of the Tucson will tank after another year or so. That said, Hyundai are doing a remarkable job with both the appeal of the brand in the media, now a solid established dealer network and the 5 year warranty means they are "doing the simple things consistently well" which perhaps is enough for the typical irish punter.

Mums think it looks like it will run over other cars and keep the little angels safe in the mum taxi. Mums want a Range Rover/Xseries but we can't afford them here so... Just a bulkier Quashai. Most are just 2wd, not exactly fuel sipping due to big wheels, weight and bulky shape
